I Became a Dragon!
After my shift ended the way it always did, I logged onto Novelpia and was midway through a keyboard war with the author when drowsiness rolled over me all at once and my eyes slid shut of their own accord. I clenched my jaw, barely catching hold of a mind already slipping under, and hit enter on the comment I had been writing.
I watched the upload's loading bar with thorough satisfaction, and then I lost consciousness.
When I opened my eyes again, I was inside a cave.
My vantage sat unnaturally high. In the lake pooled within the cave, a colossal dragon sheathed in blood-red scales shifted in perfect lockstep with every move I made, and the sight left no room for doubt.
I had been reincarnated as a dragon.
That day shall come without omen.
A crimson dragon, flown from another world, shall burn the sky with wingbeats vast as Mount Tai, and by his breath heaven and earth shall turn to ash.
When his footsteps split the earth and every living thing kneels before his flame, the Gate shall close and the world shall become ash.
The stars of heaven shall fall, the deep darkness of the sea shall be rent apart, and mountain and field shall vanish into the blaze. And so, in that hour when heaven and earth are torn open and remade,
the dragon shall appear as savior, draw aside the veil of darkness,
raise up a new order, and once more open for all life a road of hope.
A new age shall dawn. From the ashes the seeds of life shall sprout, and the world shall be created anew.
