The Flash Golem
◈ Weight: 1841 kg
◈ Affiliation: Necromancer Who Summons Death
◈ Classification:UndeadMindlessSummoned Entity
A hideous monster stitched together from the corpses of the dead. This fusion, chaotically tangled by the power of death magic, may look crude at first glance, but it is incredibly tough, resilient, and efficient. Because it is infused with a massive amount of death magic, its body will decay at an extremely rapid rate. To prevent collapse from rot, fresh corpses must be supplied on a regular basis.

Level 4 necromancy spell. Flash Golem Summon.
The Flash Golem was a monster on an entirely different level from any summon I had been able to pull out until now.
“Groooooooar!”
I smiled as I watched the Flash Golem let out a long roar. It was far superior to useless zombies or skeletons. While it had no special abilities, it was armed with enormous size and overwhelming strength. Its physics-defying physical power was practically a special technique in itself.
“Let’s go.”
I entered the village together with my party members. Yuri hurriedly let us inside.
“This was your doing.”
Yuri said as she looked at me. Her voice sounded like she was holding back tears. She seemed to have already figured everything out. There was no point in making excuses now.
“Yes. I’m the one who raised the undead.”
“The Sage…”
Yuri gazed at the battlefield with moist eyes. The corpse of a wolf, now reduced to nothing but bare bones after being used as material for the Flash Golem, was visible. And that wasn’t all. The bodies of the Spriggan warriors who had died in battle were also scattered about, turned into white skeletons.
“The Sage would have wanted to protect the Spriggans even after death.”
“…You certainly have a way with words.”
Yuri let out a sigh as she spoke. She must have known it too. To defeat those mushroom monsters, they needed the power of something even more horrifying.
“Since the water’s already been spilled… you must win.”
“You’re stating the obvious.”
I held out my hand to Yuri. She looked at me with puzzled eyes.
“That necklace around your neck. It’s a treasure you inherited from your parents, right?”
“How did you know?”
“Could you lend it to me for a moment?”
Without another word, Yuri took off the necklace and handed it to me.
You sense fairy magic emanating from the necklace.
You feel an underground magical power surging forth.
As soon as I put on the necklace, the mana I had spent summoning the undead began to recover at an astonishing speed. It was an artifact—the Underground Fairy’s Necklace. With this, I would never run out of mana no matter how recklessly I cast spells.
I prepared another spell.
“Animate Skeleton!”
You have summoned the power of darkness...
Evil magic spreads outward!
The white bones of the Spriggans and the massive wolf began to rise once more at my necromancy incantation. Skeletons rose with the sound of rattling bones.
I dashed out of the village with my party members. The Flash Golem and the skeletons. An army of undead followed behind me.
Alright then… shall we begin round two?
Walking Fungus is inherently immune to poison. Poison Arrows have no effect, and they can move freely even inside spore clouds. Additionally, Walking Fungus do not feel fear. No matter how disadvantageous the situation or how horrifying the sight, they never flee. Because they do not know what fear is.
Interestingly, undead share the exact same traits.
“Goooooooooo!”
A massive body nearly three meters tall. The undead monster known as the Flash Golem, weighing a full 1.8 tons, charged toward the horde of Walking Fungus with a roar that sounded like it had risen from hell.
Thud!
The Walking Fungus tried to throw their bodies at the Flash Golem to stop it, but it was useless. The difference in mass was simply too great. Just by running forward, the Flash Golem sent the Walking Fungus tumbling to the ground in droves.
The Flash Golem grabbed one of the Walking Fungus. As if seeking revenge for the dead Spriggans, it twisted the creature with both hands like it was wringing out a wet rag.
Bang!
The Walking Fungus’s body tore apart horribly. It died spewing spores like a broken cotton doll.
“Huff… Huff…”
Even within the thick spore cloud, the Flash Golem stood completely fine. The fungal bodies clinging to it were useless. After all, it was a monster without organs, blood, or a brain. Even if mushrooms grew on its body, there were no organs to weaken.
The Walking Fungus desperately reached out with their arms to stop the Flash Golem. The Golem swung its fists without mercy. The heavy, fleshy monster’s punches caused the heads of the Walking Fungus to explode. Any Walking Fungus that took a single hit from its fist collapsed and could not stand again.
The Flash Golem unleashed merciless violence. Walking Fungus were sent flying with broken limbs and crushed bodies. Their debuffs were terrifying, but once you blocked the debuffs, they weren’t much of a threat.
“Groooooooar!”
The Flash Golem let out a victorious roar. Following behind it, the army of skeletons made of bare bones clashed with the Walking Fungus.
The skeletons, armed with the long spears they had used in life, continued to stab and kill the Walking Fungus even inside the thick spore clouds. With the sound of cracking bones, the skeletons thrust their spears. The Walking Fungus resisted by spraying spores, but the skeletons silently turned them into skewered mushrooms.
The battle between the fungal entities and the undead was quiet and eerie. There were no screams, no war cries. Neither side fled. They continued fighting until their bodies were completely destroyed and they could no longer move.
While the undead fought the fungal creatures, I approached the massive fungal mass.
“What a fucking creepy fight.”
Alma, Roa, and Noman prepared for battle. The other two I could understand, but…
“Why did you come along?”
“W-well, I thought I might be of some help… I mean, Captain Seori said I had the qualities of a warrior, you know?”
“You’re a scholar. Not an explorer.”
“Still…”
“If you die in battle, I won’t take responsibility.”
I didn’t care either way. My party members approached the Fungal Queen. The closer we got, the more her enormous body filled our vision.
◈ Weight: 12,000 kg
◈ Affiliation: Fungal Queen Swarm
◈ Classification:Living CreaturePsychicPlant
Ugh! This is a colossal mass of fungal matter. This monster, which grew grotesquely by absorbing the twisted underground magic, has somehow awakened psychic abilities. The Fungal Queen commands other fungi through telepathy. This horrifying creature will not stop until it covers everything in the dungeon with damp mycelium.
※ This entity is alive. Various traits applicable to living creatures apply.
※ This entity uses psychic powers.
※ This entity is a Plant. It feels no pain, knows no fear, and can regenerate even if parts of its body are severed. Due to its unique nervous system, most poisons are ineffective.
“Roa!”
I handed Roa a belt containing Wildfire Potions. She pulled her hood down low and vanished as if melting into the shadows. She had used the Guardian skill, Invisibility.
Alma swung her greatsword at the Fungal Queen’s leg.
“This thing is disgustingly huge!”
“Don’t get too close. It can use Psychokinetic Shield. If you touch it, your brain will get fried.”
“Fucking mushroom bastard! Who the hell does it think it is, using psychokinetic shields?”
Bundles of tentacles grew like fine fur across the Fungal Queen’s body. It used those to wield its psychic powers. If close-combat classes like us got too close, the Queen would personally emit psychic waves and boil our brains.
The Fungal Queen shuddered. Yellow psychic waves flowed along the tentacles covering its body.
“Watch out!”
The Fungal Queen fired a massive beam made of pure telekinetic force. The ground caved in as if struck by an invisible club.
“Shit!”
Fortunately, the attack was slow and not particularly threatening. Fungal masses began falling from the Queen’s body, wriggling like small insects as they crawled across the ground.
“I swear, if I have to fight mushrooms twice, I’m no longer human!”
Alma ground her teeth as she skewered the small fungal monsters with her greatsword.
“Flash Golem!”
I called for the Flash Golem. The golem, which had been happily smashing Walking Fungus, lumbered over with its massive body.
“Ram it!”
“Groooooooooar!”
With a monstrous roar, the Flash Golem slammed its shoulder into the Fungal Queen’s torso. The Queen’s massive body shook. Its small tentacles writhed as it poured psychic waves into the Golem like electric shocks.
But an undead that had been freed from death forever did not know pain. The impact would have knocked a human unconscious long ago, but the undead Flash Golem ignored the Queen’s psychic attacks and swung its fist in rage.
“Groooooooooar!”
With a roar that sounded like it came from hell, the Flash Golem extended its arm. The flesh across its entire body writhed as if exploding. The corpse, activated by death magic, repeatedly contracted and expanded its muscles like a living being, unleashing tremendous power.
Crack. Crunch…
The tough fungal mass shattered and crumbled, flowing down to the ground. The Flesh Golem did not stop. It swung its fists like a machine gun, pulverizing the Fungal Queen.
“Ooooooooooh!”
The Golem grabbed a bundle of the Queen’s mycelial tentacles as if tearing out a giant’s intestines and forcibly ripped them out.
Crackle!
Spores scattered in all directions like falling snow. The Fungal Queen staggered and collapsed to the ground.
Thud!
The Fungal Queen fell.
“Now! Roa!”
At that moment, Roa, who had released her stealth, threw a Wildfire Potion.
Boom!
Roa had timed the potion throw with a crossbow shot to trigger an explosion. The sticky, alchemical flames poured down onto the Fungal Queen’s head like rain.
At the same time, the Queen’s tentacle bundles suddenly stood straight up. The flames slid off uselessly to the ground as if they had hit a waterproof tarp. It had used Psychokinetic Shield to block the fire.
“It still has energy left to use psychic waves, I see.”
“Then what do we do?”
“What else? We beat it until it gets tired.”
I began cutting away the tentacles sprouting from the Queen’s body alongside Alma.
Bzzzzzzzzzt!
The Fungal Queen fired psychic waves in all directions. But Alma and I dodged the attacks with good timing, Roa moved around in stealth, and the Flash Golem simply endured the hits with its tough body.
The Flash Golem’s body was melting, but it didn’t matter. As long as we killed the Queen, the fight would be over.
As the tentacles were severed, the Queen’s psychic power weakened. Roa triggered another Wildfire Potion explosion.
Boom!
“Got it!”
This time, the Fungal Queen’s body burst into fierce flames. The Queen writhed desperately to extinguish the fire, but it wasn’t agile enough to put out flames created by alchemy. What did twelve tons matter? In front of a Wildfire Potion, it was nothing but a twelve-ton mushroom roast.
“Huff.”
I left the burning Queen behind and looked around the battlefield. The Walking Fungus, having lost the Queen’s control, fell into complete chaos. They wandered aimlessly across the battlefield, doing nothing but walking in circles—just as their name suggested.
The skeletons seemed to have reached the end of their duration and crumbled into dust. The Flash Golem was pinned beneath the fallen Fungal Queen, burning together with it.
“It’s over.”
My party members gathered around me one by one. Thanks to the Flash Golem, we had been able to defeat the Fungal Queen with relative ease. Without the Golem, we probably couldn’t have won.
…And the reason we could create the Flash Golem was thanks to the sacrifice of the Spriggans.
In the end, it was the Spriggans’ sacrifice that had protected their village.
When the battle ended, the barrier gate slowly opened. I could see Yuri and the warriors running across the devastated battlefield.
“Shall we head back?”
“Yes.”
The Spriggans had finally obtained the victory they had longed for so much. With this, all those who had died fighting could rest in peace.
I returned to the Spriggan village together with my party members.
