Desperate Lecture Hunt – Enter the Gatekeeper
It had been over ten minutes since I'd changed the stream title to "Battlelands Lectures Provided (For Low-Tier Kill Bet Streamers)". But Prism's DMs, chat, and donation windows were dead silent. Well, not exactly—chat was buzzing, just not with anyone signing up for lessons.
The chat's mocking fact-bombs hit me like a slap to the back of the head. 'Oh, right.' This wasn't some labor office dawn waiting room. You don't just leave the door open yelling, "Anyone for a gombang run today!" and expect folks to pile in.
"Uh... bros, I'm still clueless about the streaming ecosystem. So how do I do this? Should I go room-to-room pitching myself?"
Yura. The streamer dubbed the 5-tier gatekeeper. What level was that exactly? Kinda fuzzy, so I pulled up the tier chart Odin had sent.
Starting from the top: 1-Tier—guys who can main order and rack up kills solo. Pros like [Odin], [Zeus], [Teo], [Panjeo], or streamers like [Gruja], [Choke], [Mungchi], [Apple] who main high-skill content.
2-Tier—solid shots but not quite main order material. They handle sub-orders or sometimes lead the main squad. 'If 1-Tier's the boss, 2-Tier's like the enforcer, huh?'
Then 3-Tier. They could main or sub in casual games with friends, sure. But in high-stakes kill bets with hundreds or thousands on the line? Nah, too shaky. 1- and 2-Tier are undisputed physical gods. 3-Tier's... ambiguous. Good ones snipe like 2-Tier; bad ones flop like 4-Tier. It's all about angle reads, positioning, wingman play, crack shots—the fine details that separate them. The ceiling for brain-off, pure muscle users.
4-Tier... do what they're told. Farm on command, hand over items (even theirs), revive downed teammates, fetch cars, bait rushes as meat shields. Fancy name: sidabari.
'So... 1-Tier class prez, 2-Tier vice, 3-Tier treasurer, 4-Tier errand boy?'
Finally, the glorious 5-Tier. At this point, splitting tiers feels pointless. But to them, it's cutthroat. Like how challengers lump bronze through plat together, but bronzes obsess over sub-ranks and LP down to the tens. I couldn't tell 5- from 6- or 7-Tier. Avg damage around 100? High underperform rate... 8-Tier? Total noobs. Can't WASD, don't know item pickups.
Anyway. Yura, 5-Tier gatekeeper. Avg damage 119—ambulance-worthy. Top of 5-Tier for following and shooting... but just that. Not 4-Tier good, not 6-Tier bad. Beat her? Promote to 4. Perfect gatekeeper fit.
She wasn't around back when I watched streams, so unfamiliar... but 'Everyone else feels the same.'
I opened a new browser tab, searched Yura on Prism Studio. Live, ~800 viewers.
'...Why so many?'
Her thumbnail showed killer mindset. Explained the crowd.
Dove in—ear-piercing shriek shredded my eardrums. Lower belly cramps shot straight to my skull.
"Ugh, fuck, my eardrums are bleeding."
My mutter went live via mic.
"...Current from my earphones. Not aimed at Yura—don't misunderstand. Anyway... greetings first."
Prism etiquette: Donate on entry to announce yourself. But Jua? Broke.
'...Can't skip another gukbap.' Frugal till kill bets. Typed instead.
No lame "instructor" title—that'd get me flamed. Had to use the objective rep from chats.
My message sparked Yura's viewers.
Yura stared blankly at the results screen, then spotted chat and jumped.
On-screen, Yura waved with aegyo. Her killer vibe shook—800 felt lowball.
Yura's eyes went wide.
Ooh, cool, instant yes? Then hit my stream to sign up.
'Instructor house-calling? Ridiculous...'
DM'd her my death code via her nick. She invited.
*Ding-ding-ding—ding ding ding—*
Muted her stream, accepted. Aegyo voice hit immediately. Regret instant.
"Jua-nim! Hiii~!"
"Ahem, yeah, nice to meet you, Yura-nim."
"Ran Lands with Odin yesterday—heard tons about you!"
"Ah, the praise overload, huh."
"Huh? Playstyle's straight barbarian... sorry! Odin's words!"
"...Barbarian?"
"...Like, fearless and badass? Lu Bu's a barbarian in our era too..."
Desperate spin, but doomed. Odin betrayed me. Next meet: Arena yacha rule. Loser adds "OdinUnderJua" to title.
"So... what're you teaching? I've had 1-Tiers coach me... doesn't stick."
"...Not your first rodeo?"
Something felt off.
Lost. Lost again. Body shaking with rage. Worst ever? Worse than labor office shit limits. Site chief framing me for his theft. Pay delays morphing daily to weekly to monthly to yearly.
"Master! How was I? Died but good round, right?!"
"...Told you peek—you peeked and died. What was good?"
"Push! I finally pushed instead of cowering!"
"Sigh... that's just suicide... Drop the master crap. Don't say I taught you anywhere."
"Whaaat? Learned more from Jua Master than Odin/Zeus!"
"No! Hell no! Don't call me master!"
Head pounding—rubbed temples. Period pain forgotten. Blood pressure spiked, neck stiff.
'...Blood meant for below surging up?'
Collapse from hypertension—who'd save me? Fun start turned blood-pressure hell by game 5.
Game 1: Parachute snagged pylon, instant death.
Game 2: Solo farm looked promising—then leaped from moving car.
Game 3: AR'd Odin pickup, headshot.
Game 4: Pure luck loss, skip.
Game 5: Self-peek suicide rush highlight.
"Yura-nim. What's your biggest issue?"
"Um... angles? Always headshot dodging bullets... downed then insta-gibbed."
"No. Biggest problem: You're playing Battlelands."
"...Hic?"
