Complete NTR Immunity
The sun was blazing. There was no mistaking it — summer had arrived. Maybe it was because I'd been stuck in that freezing basement, but the sunlight felt especially warm against my skin. Was this what a frozen dinner felt like, thawing out in a microwave?
My women and I had set out to recruit a new girl. The moment we stepped onto the street, every pair of eyes in the vicinity swung our way.
So this is what superiority feels like.
Han Yuri, whose looks would never lose to anyone, anywhere. Kim Yerin, who wasn't far behind. And Baek Hanyoung, whose beauty had already been proven to the entire world through film and television. Every last one of them was a woman of overwhelming beauty. And wedged right in the middle of that formation, of course, was me.
They're probably assuming a little guy like me is related to them somehow.
We didn't look alike, but at a glance the four of us might have passed for siblings. There was no other reason women like these would be walking around with a guy who looked as dangerous as I did.
"Hmmm..."
Mid-stride, Baek Hanyoung started scanning the street in every direction, as if something about the surroundings had gotten under her skin. Ah — maybe she was running low on moisture. I stopped and looked at her.
"Ugh, this is actually pissing me off."
"What's wrong...?"
"This way for a moment."
The look on her face was rare — she was genuinely pissed. What was this about? I figured I should follow her for now. I trotted after her as she strode toward a dark back alley, her steps long and purposeful.
"Just as I thought."
"Hm? Someone you know?"
"No."
We walked a good stretch deeper into the alley, and there they were — three sleazy-looking men standing around. Thugs? What were they doing here?
"Numbers line up. Three of 'em."
"Yeah? Then let's get started."
"Whoa, whoa. Calm down. Calm the hell down. I was just about to do it anyway."
One of the thugs stepped forward. Wait. That face — I'd seen that face somewhere before...
Mind Control!
He was a villain who'd set the community boards I used to haunt on fire. Rank: B-class. A degenerate who used hypnosis to brainwash women and turn them into his personal slaves.
I'd heard a lot of C-class heroes had fallen to this guy. But why was he here?
Don't tell me he's after my women?
It was true I had an ability that worked even on A-class Superhumans. But I couldn't guarantee it would defend against someone else's power.
"Every last one of them looks fucking delicious."
"Wait, that's Baek Hanyoung. What's she doing here? Are we completely fucked?"
"Doesn't matter — my power works on A-class too! I'll take the dragon-horn bitch."
These sons of bitches...! But there was nothing I could do. I called up the Status Window in my mind. Maybe it would throw me a line that could actually help.
Just sit tight and watch how this plays out.
What? What the hell was that supposed to mean?
I'd recommend covering your eyes, too. It's going to be pretty disgusting.
The Superhuman called Mind Control grinned from ear to ear and snapped his fingers. That had to be the activation trigger. Something pink spilled from his fingertips and coiled around Han Yuri.
"Got her!"
He stretched out a hand, reaching for the swell of Han Yuri's chest.
"Heheh. I've wanted to grab these since the second I saw them."
Except that was never going to happen. Because —
"Hey. You fucking stink."
"Huh?"
— a torso without a head can't do much of anything.
Before anyone could blink, Han Yuri's tail had already lashed forward like a whip, faster than the eye could follow, and smashed into the bastard's skull. Normally that would have just snapped his neck. This guy died far more gruesomely than that. It looked exactly like taking a hammer to a towering stack of meatballs. Flesh and bone sprayed in every direction. I was starting to understand why the Status Window had recommended I cover my eyes.
"Huh? Wha—!"
"You. You shoved that disgusting voice into my head just now, didn't you?"
Crunch. One of the remaining thugs had his head seized by Baek Hanyoung. His luck was no better. Crack. If Han Yuri was a hammer, Baek Hanyoung was a hydraulic press. His skull crumpled inward — and it took several long seconds to finish the job.
"Oh, fuck...! Stay back!"
The last thug scrambled over beside me and clamped a hand down on my head. Did this one have a brainwashing ability too?
But I had no way of resisting a power like that!
You do!
Every effect that threatens you is nullified.
Wow. I guess I did.
"One step closer and this guy di—"
"Yerin? I don't care. Kill him."
"Sure."
Kim Yerin drew a sharp blade from her wrist and drove it through the throat of the man who'd dared to put his hand on my head. It looked like watching a slab of meat get butchered.
None of your females can be brainwashed by any means. They desire only to serve your body — and will choose suicide if they cannot.
Their craving to serve you cannot be stopped, not even by your own commands.
Yeah, it would've been real nice if you'd told me that earlier. Then I wouldn't have had to watch this vomit-inducing spectacle! You piece of shit!
"Well. That was a thorough waste of our time."
"It couldn't be helped..."
I let out a long sigh and left the corpses where they lay. A Superhuman body turning up in a back alley wasn't exactly a major incident. They died often enough, after all. Walking away and leaving them there wouldn't cause any trouble.
"I haven't the faintest idea how many more we'll have to kill."
Tell me about it. I was too soft-hearted to have a good answer for that. But one thing I did know.
Anyone who got in my way wasn't getting forgiven.
The Ice Witch, Victoria.
She was originally Russian — born and raised there. Unfortunately, her country was torn to shreds for one reason or another, so she naturalized as a Chinese citizen. That was where she earned her current nickname, along with a genuinely badass alias. From there, happiness should have been the only thing left waiting for her. But then another problem cropped up.
The Chinese military invaded the island of Taiwan, botched the landing, and the entire country splintered into seventeen pieces.
Left with no other choice, she had to apply for naturalization all over again... this time to the nearest country: Korea.
"...What an unbelievable life story."
That was my honest reaction. What kind of person lived like this? If you were going to have bad luck, at least have a reasonable amount of it.
"So before this woman came to Korea, they ran her through all kinds of tests. They wanted to know if her real ability was causing misfortune."
"Abilities like that exist?"
"Of course they do. They're not exactly common... but they show up every now and then. So far the strongest one's been C-class. If an A-class misfortune user ever appeared, wiping out an entire country would be the least of it."
So Superhuman abilities didn't always produce good results. Right... evolution didn't exactly guarantee you'd roll the optimal trait.
"Sehyun. This Victoria woman... do we really have to subjugate her?"
"Hm? Oh. Yeah, we do."
If I didn't subjugate the Ice Witch Victoria, the penalty was a full 1,234 hours of getting passed around nonstop by Baek Hanyoung, Kim Yerin, and Han Yuri. They might as well have just said I'd die. God damn it.
"I've met her before, you know."
"Oh, for real?"
"She came to our school as a guest lecturer."
"Huh? I don't remember that at all."
"That's because the professor was at the casino, so class got cancelled."
...I ignored Kim Yerin and listened to Han Yuri instead.
"How do I put it. She seemed like a cheerful person. Though she was soaked in booze."
"Then what's the problem?"
"The problem is her rampages. You remember how the temperature in Seoul suddenly tanked a while back, right?"
I did. It hadn't been the entire city — just certain districts — but the temperature had dropped to eight degrees below freezing. In June.
"Someone suddenly asked Victoria a sensitive question. I don't remember exactly... but it was probably about family."
"Family? That's not a big deal."
"I can explain that part."
Baek Hanyoung, who had been listening quietly from the side, cut in.
"Victoria was abused from the time she was a child. It happens often enough. An abused Superhuman hits adolescence, awakens their power, and kills their parents."
"So that's why the family talk..."
"Yes. Nobody died that day, but a great many people were seriously injured. Several of my classmates had to have their legs amputated, if that tells you anything."
A truly terrifying track record. And the fact that she'd done all that without receiving a single punishment was...
"That woman's insane. She's a tyrant, basically. If she doesn't like someone, she tries to kill them."
"How did someone like that even pass the naturalization exam..."
"A-class Superhumans are always a precious resource."
This was going to be dangerous... but I couldn't stop. I was already on the train. All I could do was wait until it reached the station.
And besides — in a way, I might be the only one who can actually punish her.
Burning with a completely pointless sense of justice, I boarded the train bound for Daejeon.
