That night, it was quite late. With Psi and Dmol cradled in my arms, I lay down on the bed and fell asleep. The long day must have worn me out, because I plunged into deep slumber almost immediately. The only sound in the room was the quiet rhythm of breathing.

How much time passed? I felt a small movement in my embrace. Psi and Dmol wriggled slightly, stirring. Carefully, they slipped out from my arms. I was sleeping so soundly that I noticed nothing.

"You saw Dad, right?"

Dmol thought for a second before replying.

"Yeah."

Psi gave a small smile.

"Dad's kind."

"And... he treats us with real sincerity."

Psi paused, tilting her head slightly.

Psi glanced down at her own body. Small feet. Short tail. A fleeting thought crossed her mind.

But Psi shook her head.

This was fine as it was. As long as she could protect Dad, that was enough.

Dmol pondered for a moment, then nodded.

"Yeah."

"He's our dad, after all."

Under the moonlight, the two little dinosaurs stood side by side, facing the same direction.

The same girl was on the bed. A petite little girl. But up close, familiar traits stood out. A small tail. An aura reminiscent of a Psittacosaurus.

No doubt about it. It was Psi.

At that instant, Psi dove into my arms. She nuzzled my chest just like always.

"Dad."

I muttered, still rigid.
