The Age of Immortal Ascension Where Everyone Fears for Their Lives, the Fall of a Hidden Expert
The Age of Immortal Ascension Where Everyone Fears for Their Lives, the Fall of a Hidden Expert
The Beyond descended into chaos. Over these past few days, blood and turmoil spread across every region, and even within the territories of some immortal Daoist traditions, great wars erupted.
At a time like this, there was no such thing as peace. Everywhere, battles raged purely for selfish gain.
Within many ancient traditions, Hidden Experts emerged into the world, carrying the entire accumulated foundation of their clans, attempting to locate the Tree of Epoch, determined to stake everything on one final gamble in this epoch.
But the most direct consequence of such actions was that an ancient tradition would rapidly decline—the entire clan’s Fortuity was taken away with them, plunging from prosperity into decay.
Once deprived of the support of their foundations, these traditions quickly withered, giving other forces an opening to seize the opportunity and plunder their resources and cultivation techniques.
Only beings at the True Daoist level and above had any chance of achieving Immortality.
As for ordinary Cultivators, achieving the Dao and becoming an Immortal had nothing to do with them—it was far too distant.
They only wanted to take advantage of this great chaos to obtain resources, to obtain things suited to themselves.
The overwhelming majority of the wars breaking out everywhere were caused by exactly this reason.
Countless Cultivators and living beings perished in these great wars, their bodies and souls utterly annihilated.
Previously, because of tacit understandings between the various forces, Sacred Emperor Realm beings and the Quasi-Emperor True Daoists above them would not easily make a move.
But now that the entire Beyond had fallen into chaos, those tacit restraints naturally ceased to exist, vanishing completely.
Within some incomparably ancient Forbidden Areas, divine light shot into the heavens, blood qi pressing down upon entire stretches of the universe. Many existences that had lain dormant for endless ages broke through their seals and emerged into the world once more.
Such existences were even half a measure stronger than the Hidden Experts.
Even though they restrained their auras and reined in their blood qi, their terrifying pressure still shook half the universe—overwhelmingly powerful, utterly unmatched.
As the Opportunity to Become an Immortal descended, the environment of heaven and earth changed drastically. Even within the heavenly dome, brilliant radiance could be seen, with immortal rain manifesting.
In every star field, dazzling divine mists shone, as if phenomena from ancient times were reappearing—entire sects ascending as Flying Immortals, immortal light billowing, incomparably holy.
“The world has fallen into chaos. Even we can hardly remain untouched by it.”
“Changge had only just formed a marriage alliance with the Unrivaled Celestial Dynasty, and already something this huge has happened. It seems the Beyond truly cannot remain peaceful for long. All of this was actually destined long ago...”
“How could the Celestial Path ever be peaceful? The Founding Ancestor said so long ago.”
Within the Longevity Gu Family, many True Daoist ancestors sighed, their gazes filled with worry.
They did not follow the example of the experts from other traditions and forces, who had gone directly in search of the Tree of Epoch’s whereabouts.
Because Gu Changge had long since given instructions, telling them not to get involved, warning that they would face mortal danger.
And so the many experts of the Longevity Gu Family, including even those Hidden Experts who had emerged, all remained quiet, choosing to stay within the clan’s territory.
At a time like this, it was instead the territory of the Longevity Gu Family that remained peaceful and tranquil, like a paradise untouched by the world. No great wars had occurred there; it stood aloof from worldly strife.
Apart from the turmoil previously caused by the Immortal’s Corpse incident, it was hardly any different from ordinary days.
Although Gu Changge was merely a junior, in his previous life he had been an Absolute Being of the Forbidden Epoch, his cultivation beyond imagination. Naturally, no one dared to disregard the words he spoke.
“Let them fight it out just like this. The real show hasn’t even begun yet.”
Gu Changge stood quietly within his palace, his white robes whiter than snow, otherworldly and untainted, gazing into the distant heavenly dome with calm, fathomless eyes.
He murmured softly, not the least bit surprised by any of this.
It had been less than half a month since the aura of the Tree of Epoch had manifested, yet the situation in the Beyond had already undergone earth-shaking changes.
Many traditions were already on the verge of collapse and disintegration.
Because for those Hidden Experts, the temptation of Immortality was simply too great.
So great that they could cast aside everything, all for that single thread of an Opportunity to Become an Immortal.
They had lain dormant for countless years, waiting since distant ages—waiting for the environment of heaven and earth to change, waiting for the Age of Immortal Ascension to descend, waiting until all their kin, friends, and beloved companions had been buried in the long river of time, until all had turned to withered bones, never to be seen again.
For them, what was left that could not be abandoned?
And so, carrying all the accumulated foundations of their traditions, they set out to search for and contest that thread of opportunity. This was tantamount to abandoning the forces behind them, staking everything on a single throw.
“Counting the time, the Dark Heaven should be descending upon the world about now.”
Gu Changge crushed the Jade Tablet in his hand, then transmitted one order after another.
This chaos engulfing the Beyond was the perfect breeding ground for the Dark Heaven to harvest and grow. Those traditions and forces that had lost the guardianship of their foundations were all targets Gu Changge had long since set his sights on.
Half a month later, the Beyond was shaken once again.
Just as the various Hidden Experts were frantically searching for traces of the Tree of Epoch like madmen, a mysterious and terrifying force emerged from the shadows—like a dreadful flood surging through the universe—beginning to devour and harvest those forces that had lost the protection of their foundations on a massive scale.
In less than half a month, the forces within many star fields crumbled and fell apart, directly swallowed up by that mysterious power.
And within this mysterious force, there were even numerous True Daoists, all clad in black robes, their entire bodies shrouded in thick mist, their true faces impossible to discern.
Taking advantage of the moment when those Hidden Experts were too preoccupied to look elsewhere, those True Daoists reaped their way through one star field after another like grim reapers—virtually unstoppable.
Many Cultivators were chilled to the bone by this, horrified, feeling that this terrifying force was none other than the mysterious organization that had appeared for a split second like a flash of lightning at the Great Yu Celestial Dynasty. If they remembered correctly, that mysterious organization had even dared to assassinate Gu Changge back then.
Afterward, it had even caused the deaths of many True Daoists who had rushed to the Great Yu Celestial Dynasty, with only a handful surviving.
Judging from the current situation, this mysterious organization had already infiltrated many forces.
They couldn’t even know whether the elders and disciples at their side were agents of that organization.
For a time, everyone feared for their own safety, and people even began to suspect those closest to them.
The Beyond was already in chaos due to the drastic changes in the environment of heaven and earth, with numerous True Daoists and Hidden Experts frantically searching for traces of the Tree of Epoch.
Because of this matter, it descended into turmoil once again.
At this point, nearly all Cultivators lived in panic and dread, with no idea when disaster might descend upon them.
“The marriage scene seen within the Lake of Rebirth did not come to pass, but the situation in the Beyond has still unfolded exactly as the Lake of Rebirth revealed, without the slightest change.”
“The Beyond is in chaos, everyone fears for their lives, and all Cultivators live under the shadow and terror of Gu Changge. The master behind that mysterious organization is actually Gu Changge himself.”
Gu Xianer, dressed in plain white garments, stood beneath an ancient tree that had already withered. A clear breeze blew past, causing the hem of her dress to sway gently.
She gazed at the wind-and-cloud-tossed sky, murmuring softly, her expression both complicated and lost.
Half a month later, the occurrence of a certain event once again shook the entire Beyond.
A Hidden Expert had fallen!
He had died miserably on the road in search of the Tree of Epoch, ambushed by another Hidden Expert. His body exploded, and his shattered remains fell from a distant place.
The entire world was shaken. That terrifying aura spread out, permeating the four seas and Eight Wastelands, causing heaven and earth themselves to tremble and roar because of it—boundlessly terrifying, leaving all living beings shuddering in fright.
It could be said that Hidden Experts were, in this era, the existences closest to Immortals.
Especially one who had brought along his entire foundation—yet he still died miserably on the road.
