Refining the Ancient Reincarnation Supreme Being, Attempting to Interfere with the River of Time
Refining the Ancient Reincarnation Supreme Being, Attempting to Interfere with the River of Time
Gu Changge began sorting through the many great gifts the Ancient Reincarnation Supreme Being had left behind for him.
The most precious among them were the Dao Fruits the Ancient Reincarnation Supreme Being had accumulated across various ancient universes over these countless years.
Beyond that, there was this body that had surpassed the level of Remnant Immortals.
As for the many immortal scripture remnants and broken Immortal Grade Artifacts hidden within the Spiritual Palace space, in Gu Changge’s eyes, none of them were nearly as valuable as these two things.
Over the following days, Gu Changge began refining the puppet in the depths of this withered universe.
Hong long long—
The terrifying True Flame of the Great Dao blazed, its temperature horrifyingly high, billions of crimson rays bursting forth, directly burning the universe itself into collapse.
Vast swathes of Grand Runes wrapped around the Ancient Reincarnation Supreme Being’s corpse, like a blazing, boundless ocean.
This place transformed into a terrifying sea of fire. Even if a True Daoist stepped inside, they would be instantly annihilated in body and soul, burned to ash.
Compared to an ordinary True Daoist puppet, the Ancient Reincarnation Supreme Being’s corpse was far harder to refine.
The difficulty alone was on an entirely different level.
If an ordinary True Daoist’s physique could be described as an eggshell, then the Ancient Reincarnation Supreme Being’s physique was nothing less than iron and stone.
The two were simply incomparable.
Refining a True Daoist puppet did not take Gu Changge much time.
But now, merely erasing the runes within the Ancient Reincarnation Supreme Being’s physique had already consumed a great deal of time.
To refine a perfect puppet, the original aura and the new aura had to be perfectly fused, lest the two auras clash and cause the physique to collapse and explode.
Another important reason was that the Ancient Reincarnation Supreme Being had cultivated for far too long.
Even though his divine soul had been annihilated, this body still retained his traces and aura.
So what Gu Changge had to do was thoroughly erase those traces and that aura, then refine runes belonging to himself into the body.
Hong long—
For the following half month, this place was filled with an aura of great terror, chaotic qi roiling.
Black Grand Runes rose and fell, interweaving and constructing one after another, evolving the profundities of life, death, and reincarnation.
The entire universe trembled. The surrounding stars all turned to dust, swept up by the dispersing aura, reduced to ash in an instant.
A Daoist in feathered robes and a starry crown sat cross-legged at the center of the universe, seemingly breathing along with heaven and earth itself.
Flesh, bones, organs—nearly every inch of skin had the aura of reincarnation flowing and interweaving through it, black and white qi cycling endlessly, forming a world of its own.
“Finally succeeded. I didn’t expect refining this one puppet would take me so long.”
“Still, the harvest isn’t small. A puppet like this Ancient Reincarnation Supreme Being can absolutely pass for the real thing.”
Gu Changge shook his head, waved his sleeve, and put away the puppet before him.
Unless one was someone extremely familiar with him, no one could possibly tell any difference between this Ancient Reincarnation Supreme Being and the previous one.
Of course, during his battle with Gu Changge, the Ancient Reincarnation Supreme Being’s body had not been torn to pieces.
Only at the spot between his brows was there an extremely horrifying crack, split clean through by the Eight Wastelands Halberd in a single strike, unable to heal.
However, when refining this puppet, Gu Changge had already purged the destructive aura lingering within the wound, which allowed that crack to fully close.
“Next is to find the Dao Fruits the Ancient Reincarnation Supreme Being accumulated, and while I’m at it, look for a suitable world.”
Gu Changge’s movements did not pause. He tore open a cosmic tunnel and quickly vanished from this universe.
After all, he had refined the Ancient Reincarnation Supreme Being’s divine soul, so through sensing the exact locations, he could know in which ancient universes the Ancient Reincarnation Supreme Being had left his backup arrangements.
Though the original body had been destroyed and perished, those Dharma Bodies still existed in the world and had not disappeared.
These Dharma Bodies varied in strength—the strongest comparable to Remnant Immortals, the weaker ones merely at the level of True Daoists.
So for Gu Changge, collecting these Dao Fruits was not troublesome; it only required spending a bit of time.
Fortunately, his speed was great. After making a few rounds through the several nearby universes, he found the locations of those Dharma Bodies and directly devoured them.
After devouring these Dao Fruits, Gu Changge naturally did not choose to refine them, because his plan was the same as the Ancient Reincarnation Supreme Being’s—to refine them only after breaking through to the Celestial Realm.
Dao Fruits were, after all, different from Source.
Source could boost cultivation, but Dao Fruits could enhance one’s comprehension of realms and such—their wondrous uses were even greater.
Gu Changge was now already at the late stage of the True Daoist level, only a single step away from the threshold of the Celestial Realm.
If he wanted to continue increasing his cultivation, he actually only needed Remnant Immortal Source; there was no need to refine Dao Fruits.
These Dao Fruits, saved for later, would be of far greater use.
And during his scavenging of these Dao Fruits, Gu Changge happened to discover an ancient universe that was incomparably suitable for his purposes.
That universe was incomparably vast and ancient. The length of time since its birth, in Gu Changge’s view, could even rival the Beyond.
It had many life star regions, great swathes of living stars.
Some powerful ancient races occupied vast territories, calling themselves imperial clans, their ancestors having produced True Daoists.
Even now, they had True Daoist weapons suppressing their foundations, having existed for ages. Just this point alone far surpassed the surrounding universes.
Some enormous ancient powers established themselves as Holy Lands and great clans, likewise having ancestors who had become True Daoists, with deep family foundations and True Daoist weapons that could be revived at any time.
This universe’s rules were extremely incomplete, but that did not hinder its ancient foundation and Fortuity. It had produced far too many True Daoists.
Even now, within some ancient imperial clans and Holy Lands, there were likely still Quasi-Emperors sealed within Divine Source, waiting for a great era in which to achieve the Dao.
Although this universe’s heavenly rules were incomplete, they were not suppressive.
“However, its life matter is extremely scarce. It can only sustain a True Daoist for a hundred thousand years. They must either extend their lives with Emperor medicines, or use other methods to live another life, or cut themselves down with a self-inflicted strike, abandoning their heavenly mandate and hiding in regions with special rules and terrain, establishing their own Forbidden Areas.”
Gu Changge tore through this universe’s barrier, stood in the sky looking down, his divine sense sweeping across, perceiving the state of this universe.
This situation, in his view, fit the characteristics of an Age of Dharma Decline perfectly.
The Celestial Path collapsed, the heavenly mandate severed, True Daoists’ lifespans drastically reduced, able to live only a hundred thousand years.
One must know that in the Beyond, as long as a True Daoist suffered no Great Dao injury, living ten million years was more than easy.
Not to mention the various immortal orthodoxies.
They also had longevity medicines and immortal trees to extend life.
At worst, they could hide deep within their clan grounds.
Enduring the Five Immortal Decays, clinging to life.
“Since that’s the case, then it’s this universe.”
Gu Changge’s figure walked slowly out from the depths of the universe, his form seemingly merging with the void itself.
Even a True Daoist standing before him could not possibly detect his aura.
This universe’s World’s Will attempted to resist his arrival.
But as Grand Runes emerged around his body, transforming into a terrifying black hole that devoured all rules and matter—
This world’s World’s Will also retreated, no longer approaching.
“To use this universe for my layout, I must start from the other end of the River of Time—tell a monstrous lie, or alter the past.”
Gu Changge’s gaze shifted slightly as he probed this universe’s River of Time.
The Rivers of Time of different universes were not the same. Though they would all eventually converge into one, along the way they would actually branch off into countless small streams of time.
With Gu Changge’s current realm, he naturally could not interfere with that enormous main river that ran through all the heavens.
But the Rivers of Time of some broken universes were a different matter.
Affected by broken heavenly rules, even traveling within the River of Time, or even altering the past—as long as one’s cultivation and strength were powerful enough, one could actually withstand the backlash and karma.
