I Actually Quite Like It When People Show Off in Front of Me — The Sanctuary of Resurrection, the Ten Thousand Immortals Altar
I Actually Quite Like It When People Show Off in Front of Me — The Sanctuary of Resurrection, the Ten Thousand Immortals Altar
Gu Changge brought his blade down, and boundless blade energy submerged everything.
In the distance, numerous experts burst apart in terror and despair, their bodies collapsing, exploding outright.
The terrifying blade energy cascaded down from the sky, stretching across the horizon, as if it could tear heaven and earth apart.
At this moment, the entire Shen Family was enveloped in this supreme imperial might capable of destroying everything. They dared not even imagine what kind of catastrophic disaster would result if such fluctuations fully erupted.
Mountain peaks crumbled into ash, and the many pavilions and palaces were reduced to dust in the aftershock.
Even the engraved Array Patterns were instantly ground away, unable to continue providing protection.
This was a true Nirvana Grade Artifact — even though Gu Changge had not seriously wielded it.
Just a single wisp of aura interwoven upon it was enough to inspire dread; even from far away, their bodies felt on the verge of bursting apart.
“A Nirvana Grade Artifact... is he trying to destroy everyone?”
The rampant aura turned everyone’s faces pale, their souls trembling, unable to keep from kneeling prostrate on the ground.
In all these years, this was the first time they had personally witnessed the terror of a Nirvana Grade Artifact.
This single wisp of fluctuation alone was enough to tear open the barrier of the Heavenly Tide Realm and pierce through to the outer domains.
Shen Xian’er, Father Gu, Mrs. Shen, and the others were all deeply shaken. They had never expected that after Li Xiu revealed his identity, Gu Changge would not only pay it no mind, but would also slaughter every single expert who had rushed over.
He actually carried a Nirvana Grade Artifact on his person — this was simply leaving his opponents no chance of survival whatsoever.
With just one slash, everyone exploded, body and soul annihilated.
Even one among them, a being of the Sacred King Realm, screamed in terror as he collapsed into a mist of blood.
It was a horrifying, scalp-numbing sight.
Those beings who had just rushed over... were all Ancestors of the other powers of the Heavenly Tide Realm, with long legacies, no weaker than the Shen Family.
Yet in Gu Changge’s eyes, they were no different from ants.
“Sister, is he... always like this?”
Shen Xian’er looked at Gu Changge with complicated eyes, unable to resist asking Gu Xianer beside her.
“Mm, he’s usually very wicked, always bullying people.”
Gu Xianer’s gaze was fixed tightly on Gu Changge as she nodded, answering almost without thinking.
Before this, she had never seen this weapon in Gu Changge’s hands.
It could only mean that his cultivation had improved terrifyingly during this period, and that he had obtained many fortuitous opportunities.
She had once boasted right to Gu Changge’s face, declaring she would suppress him.
Now it seemed that goal was further away than ever — impossible.
This left her feeling somewhat dejected. The stronger Gu Changge became, the less she could resist when he bullied her.
During this time she had been cultivating bitterly, trying to catch up to Gu Changge.
But the harder she chased, the greater she found the gap between them to be. By now, she could no longer see even a trace of his back.
Hearing this, Shen Xian’er glanced at Gu Xianer. She now believed what Gu Xianer had been saying all this time.
It seemed Gu Changge really was doing his utmost to make amends to her sister, which improved her opinion of him considerably.
The members of the Shen Family were silent as cicadas in winter, watching from afar. The Ancestor of the Shen Family’s soul still felt a lingering dread — for the first time, he understood what fear was.
This was the might of a Nirvana Grade Artifact.
With his current strength, he probably couldn’t even get close to it, let alone wield it.
This was enough to demonstrate how terrifying and unfathomable Gu Changge’s power was.
Gu Changge paid no mind to what the crowd thought.
His face carried a faint trace of mockery as he stepped on Li Xiu’s head, looking at his furious, ice-cold expression, and said, “I actually quite like it when people show off in front of me. Because in the end, they all end up like you are now — trampled beneath my feet.”
“You... very good!”
“This is the first time I’ve met someone like you...”
Li Xiu’s entire body was wracked with pain. The War Rune between his brows had collapsed and burst apart, and who knew how many of his bones had snapped...
And now, to be trampled under Gu Changge’s foot, his face smashed deep into the dirt, unable to lift his head.
Such humiliation made his gaze turn icy; his entire being felt ready to explode.
Once upon a time, he had been the lofty War Immortal, campaigning across the Eight Wastelands and Ten Domains, slaughtering until his enemies trembled with fear, his might deterring all directions.
Even though he had fallen by accident back then, to this day he was still the War Immortal, irreplaceable by anyone! Back then, whoever heard his name did not hold him in reverence? Who would dare casually humiliate him?
“War Immortal daren...”
The Sky Blade Ancestor, Saintess Yao Yue, and the others who had luckily fled into the distance watched this scene, their hearts filled with nothing but terror and dread.
Even the War Immortal daren had been trampled beneath Gu Changge’s foot — and just now, Gu Changge had been dead set on killing everyone!
This cold-blooded ruthlessness made them tremble. Saintess Yao Yue in particular was now so regretful her intestines were turning green.
If she had known earlier, she would never have spoken those words, and things would never have come to this.
And she had even implicated the sect behind her!
“Oh? The first time, is it?”
“Perhaps it will also be the last.”
Gu Changge smiled faintly and pressed his foot down, immediately producing a tooth-aching sound of shattering bone.
He controlled his strength carefully, so that Li Xiu’s head wouldn’t burst open.
In any case, without that War Rune, Li Xiu was now a cripple, unable to even use magic power.
Actually, just now Gu Changge could have easily suppressed Li Xiu even without using the Solar Heavenly Blade.
It was just that, considering this fellow might have other tricks up his sleeve, he simply used the Nirvana Grade Artifact directly — simpler and more direct that way.
Sure enough, the moment he brought out the Nirvana Grade Artifact, Li Xiu immediately caved without a second word.
“Gu Changge!”
“Don’t you dare bully people too far!”
Li Xiu’s heart was filled with boundless humiliation and coldness. His teeth had been crushed under Gu Changge’s foot, and all his earlier natural composure was gone.
At this moment he looked like a vengeful ghost, hair disheveled, covered in blood, utterly wretched.
As the lofty War Immortal, commanding countless subordinates, invincible in battle.
In the eyes of the people of the Eight Wastelands and Ten Domains, he was a devil who slaughtered in all directions!
He had never imagined that he would one day suffer such humiliation — trampled underfoot in front of everyone, unable to even lift his head.
The reason he had been unwilling to reveal his identity before was precisely that he worried old enemies from the past would move against him again.
His fall back then had been no accident — the experts of the Beyond had joined forces, leading him into an ambush laid by the Eight Wastelands and Ten Domains.
That was why he had endured in hiding until now.
Yet after revealing his identity as the War Immortal, he had received none of the respect and admiration he was due — instead, he had been utterly disgraced before everyone.
Li Xiu had always felt he shouldn’t stoop to their level. After all, with his status, why should he? Doing so would only lower his own worth.
“Oh? And what if I do bully you?”
Gu Changge’s expression didn’t change as he pressed down harder with his foot.
A muffled groan immediately sounded from the ground. Li Xiu’s willpower was formidable; he had been enduring the pain all along, unwilling to embarrass himself further even under such humiliation.
However, Gu Changge would not let him have his way. A wisp of greyish spiritual energy drifted down onto his head, preventing it from accidentally being crushed and bursting open.
He watched with great interest, noticing that Li Xiu was forcing himself to hold on, though he was actually on the verge of passing out from the pain.
After all, Li Xiu was now just a mortal; the pain he could endure was limited.
The next moment, his foot shifted slightly, and the sound of breaking bones rang out once more.
Everyone’s faces turned cold, and they shivered, feeling that Gu Changge’s ruthlessness could not be judged by his appearance.
“Ahhh...”
Li Xiu finally couldn’t hold back, letting out a miserable scream, his mouth full of blood.
“Young man, if you know what’s good for you, hurry up and... release the War Immortal daren. Even if your origins are extraordinary and you even possess a Nirvana Grade Artifact, you must understand — with a single order from the War Immortal daren, all his former subordinates will come to kill you.”
“You simply cannot imagine the terror of the War Immortal daren...”
The Ancestor of the Bi Family’s face was pale, his voice trembling, unable to imagine such a sight befalling the lofty War Immortal daren who slaughtered in all directions and roamed unrivaled.
He forcibly suppressed the fear in his heart, wanting to make Gu Changge spare the War Immortal daren.
“Are you speaking to me?”
Gu Changge swept him an intrigued glance.
“You...”
At this moment, immense terror rose in the heart of the Ancestor of the Bi Family.
He was a Sacred King Realm expert, yet at this moment he still couldn’t help but tremble, feeling as though he had become an ant being watched by a True Dragon.
Boom!
But Gu Changge didn’t let him finish his words. He directly flipped the Solar Heavenly Blade around and brought it down. Terrifying killing intent swept across the sky, instantly cleaving him in half.
Laws, Transcendent powers, weapons — all collapsed and burst apart, with no possibility of resistance.
Everyone couldn’t help but shiver coldly. A single slash had finished off the Ancestor of an ancient clan, as casually as slaughtering a chicken or a dog, without a single wasted word.
“Speak. How did you survive? If I’m in a good mood, I might spare your life.”
“If you don’t want them to die, then don’t try my patience.”
Gu Changge put away the Solar Heavenly Blade, glanced at Li Xiu, and smiled nonchalantly, while his gaze swept over the Sky Blade Ancestor, Saintess Yao Yue, and the others.
None of them dared meet his eyes. They were terrified beyond measure, souls trembling, legs going weak.
They simply could not imagine that after trampling the once-invincible War Immortal daren underfoot, Gu Changge could still torture him so leisurely and chat so casually, his tone no different from stepping on an ant.
“Just kill me.”
“I won’t say anything.”
Li Xiu’s face was full of pain, his heart stifled with resentment, hating his own powerlessness.
If he were at his peak, how could he have fallen to the point of being humiliated by Gu Changge like this?
“Is that so?”
“Then I’ll oblige you.”
Hearing this, Gu Changge didn’t waste words. Golden runes flashed in his eyes, and he directly began searching Li Xiu’s soul in front of everyone.
Li Xiu immediately cried out in agony.
Unfortunately, his soul was now extremely feeble. Gu Changge had only probed it briefly when it burst apart with a bang — body and soul annihilated.
“War Immortal daren...”
The Sky Blade Ancestor, Saintess Yao Yue, and the others all stared with wide, terrified eyes, faces blank with disbelief that the War Immortal daren had perished right before them, his soul shattering and bursting apart.
Gu Xianer, Shen Xian’er, and the others were also astonished. The War Immortal had died just like that?
“The Sanctuary of Resurrection, the Ten Thousand Immortals Altar...”
Gu Changge, however, was not surprised by this. From Li Xiu’s fragment of a soul, he had gleaned quite a bit of information.
It was mostly as he had expected. How could a being who had died countless years ago reappear in the world?
Without a first-rate Sanctuary of Resurrection, his death back then could only have been faked.
In fact, he had been planning to find a soul-nurturing ground anyway, to ensure his subsequent plans would be foolproof.
Li Xiu’s appearance had conveniently solved that problem for him. As for how to find the hiding place of Li Xiu’s true body, that wasn’t actually difficult.
Now that he had killed this body of Li Xiu’s, karma had already been forged between them.
“He died that easily?”
Gu Xianer found it hard to believe. No matter what, Li Xiu was the former War Immortal — how could he die so easily?
Gu Changge glanced at her and said, “He was already a dead man to begin with. Though if we’re really being precise, he isn’t truly dead yet.”
“What do you mean?”
Gu Xianer still didn’t understand.
Gu Changge said indifferently, “This only counts as a body he used to walk the world. His true self is already dead, but everything was still being directed by some memories lingering in his former body.”
Hearing him put it this way, Gu Xianer understood. Looking at Li Xiu’s burst-apart corpse, she couldn’t help but snort and say, “That’s for the best, then. Xian’er’s Marriage Agreement is finally off the hook. This guy’s attitude was really infuriating — still thinking he’s the War Immortal of old.”
Hearing these words, everyone felt a mix of realization and complicated emotions. No matter what, this was the former War Immortal, tortured to death in such humiliation.
Though only Gu Changge and Gu Xianer could get away with saying such things.
Even if it was only the former War Immortal’s memories directing this body, it still wasn’t something they could casually disparage.
One could well imagine that today’s events would surely shake the Heavenly Tide Realm, and even the Beyond.
The former War Immortal had reappeared in the mortal world, only to be suppressed and killed once more by Gu Changge at the Shen Family. If some of the War Immortal’s subordinates learned of this, it was bound to bring no small amount of trouble.
“Young Master Changge, how should they be dealt with?”
The Ancestor of the Shen Family looked toward Saintess Yao Yue, the Sky Blade Ancestor, and the others, cold intent flickering in his eyes. These were all subordinates of the War Immortal, or descendants of his subordinates.
If Gu Changge had not been here today, their Shen Family would surely have suffered unimaginable trouble because of Li Xiu.
They asked themselves — they had done nothing to wrong Li Xiu, yet he had relied on his status to deceive them so thoroughly. In the end, it was the Shen Family that suffered the great loss, paying a lesson in blood.
He himself had no goodwill whatsoever toward the Sky Blade Ancestor and the rest.
“How to deal with them — I’ll leave it all to you.”
Gu Changge said indifferently.
“Yes.”
The Ancestor of the Shen Family replied respectfully.
Just then, divine rainbows came streaking across the distant sky. Several figures brimming with killing intent swiftly arrived, appearing before Gu Changge and saying respectfully, “Gongzi, per your instructions, the Blazing Moon Holy Land has been annihilated. No one escaped.”
Hearing these words, everyone couldn’t help but feel a chill run down their backs. In just this short span of time, the Blazing Moon Holy Land had been annihilated—truly not leaving a single shred of life behind.
“Thank goodness we never offended Young Master Changge...”
Looking at Saintess Yao Yue and the others, who had already fainted dead away upon hearing this news, the many members of the Shen Family were filled with nothing but relief.
Very quickly, the events that had taken place at the Shen Family today shook the entire Heavenly Tide Realm.
That supreme Nirvana might that had soared into the sky earlier was terrifying beyond compare, sweeping across the entire firmament, even causing the stars beyond the domain to tremble. It left many powerful figures chilled to the bone, speculating about what exactly had happened within the Shen Family.
Moreover, many great powers that had long kept a low profile saw their Ancestors awaken and rush to the Shen Family’s location—yet in the end, not a single one of them came back out.
On top of that, the Blazing Moon Holy Land, with its ancient heritage, had today been assaulted by several terrifying existences, annihilated and struck from the records, vanishing from the Heavenly Tide Realm.
Wave after wave of news shook all eight directions, stirring up world-shaking waves in a Heavenly Tide Realm that had been calm for so long.
Then, news spread from within the Shen Family that left people even more horrified.
Many simply couldn’t believe it, wondering if their ears were playing tricks on them.
The War Immortal who had once conquered the Eight Wastelands and Ten Domains had reappeared—and he was actually the Shen Family’s infamous good-for-nothing live-in son-in-law.
Unfortunately, he had offended a young existence from the Beyond and was suppressed and slain at the Shen Family.
The many powerful figures who had gone to pay their respects to the War Immortal were likewise all slaughtered on the spot, collapsing where they stood, body and soul utterly destroyed.
This matter shook the Heavenly Tide Realm and even spread to the Beyond, leaving countless people stunned.
No matter what, the War Immortal was a once-invincible existence whose cultivation overshadowed his era. Rumor had it he had long since fallen, ambushed while campaigning through the Eight Wastelands and Ten Domains.
Yet now, for unknown reasons, he had reappeared in this later age—only to meet such an end. It was truly hard to believe.
A young existence capable of wielding a Nirvana Grade Artifact—in the vast Beyond, who else could possibly have such grand means?
In truth, many people knew the answer without even needing to guess. Their hearts understood, and they sighed with emotion.
In a valley wreathed in immortal mist, with verdant hills and emerald bamboo, like a Celestial Realm itself, Gu Xianer, Shen Xian’er, Father Gu, and Mrs. Shen sat around a stone table.
The fragrance of tea curled upward, the jade-green tea reflecting the sky’s light within it, a rather beautiful sight.
Gu Changge sat across from them. He raised his cup to his lips, blew on it lightly, and drank it in one gulp, then couldn’t help but praise, “Auntie’s tea-making skills are excellent.”
“Young Master Changge flatters me.”
Mrs. Shen’s words were ice-cold; she was still far from polite toward him.
Although the earlier events had somewhat changed her view of Gu Changge, she still could not let go of what he had once done to Gu Xianer.
Father Gu’s expression, on the other hand, was... rather complicated. He felt that Gu Xianer’s attitude toward Gu Changge was even more familiar and natural than her attitude toward them, her own parents.
And judging from how she interacted with Gu Changge, she didn’t seem like someone who would suffer losses or be bullied by him either.
He had no idea what reason could make Gu Xianer treat her greatest enemy this way.
What’s more, Gu Changge had come to the Heavenly Tide Realm because of him, and had incidentally dealt with Shen Xian’er’s troubles.
“Actually, I came this time only to see Xianer. I have no other intentions. If Uncle and Auntie mind, I’ll leave right away.”
Gu Changge smiled and set down the teacup in his hand.
“Young Master Changge jests. How would we dare to mind?”
Mrs. Shen’s attitude remained frosty as she waited for Gu Changge to explain himself.
However, Gu Changge had no intention of continuing the conversation with her, much less explaining anything.
Mrs. Shen’s expression froze. With Gu Changge acting this way, she couldn’t very well press further.
After all, she was merely a housewife. Gu Changge was courteous to her because she was a wife of the Gu Family, and because she was Gu Xianer’s mother.
She at least had that much self-awareness. If she made an unreasonable scene, it would not only disgrace her, but also disgrace Gu Xianer.
Seeing this, Father Gu sighed softly and shook his head.
Gu Changge looked toward the other side—at Gu Xianer, who maintained her cool, aloof demeanor but kept her head lowered, her gaze involuntarily falling on the tips of her own toes, as if her mind had wandered off beyond the heavens.
“Since you’re fine, I’ll be going first. Whether it’s the Shen Family or the Gu Family, you can stay wherever you like.”
“As for Peach Village, I’ll find time to make a trip over and check on Yao Yao while I’m at it.”
That was what he said, but before leaving, he first had to locate that soul-nurturing ground.
Regarding the War Immortal matter, what interested Gu Changge most was that soul-nurturing ground; the Fortuity points came second.
“I actually don’t have much going on either. I was just planning to head back to the village to see Shifu and the others...”
Hearing this, Gu Xianer raised her head, her crystalline, beautiful eyes looking over.
Right now, she felt like her head was about to explode.
Honestly, the thing she least wanted to see was... her parents meeting Gu Changge.
The feeling was indescribably bizarre, leaving her unable to sit or stand at ease. On top of that, she had to put on a mature, steady front before her parents, to set an example for her little sister Shen Xian’er.
Thankfully, Gu Changge hadn’t made things difficult for her and had even given her a proper way out.
Return to Peach Village, and see Shifu and the others, along with Sister Tao Yao, while she was at it.
“I think you haven’t seen your parents in a long time. It’d be nice for you to spend more time with them.”
However, a trace of a smile appeared at the corner of Gu Changge’s mouth as his tone shifted, leaving Gu Xianer momentarily stunned. “Eh?”
“No, I’ve already stayed here for half a year. Shifu and the others must miss me. I have to go back and see them.”
She recovered and shot him a somewhat resentful glare, feeling that Gu Changge was... doing this on purpose, deliberately refusing to let her escape.
She knew it—how could Gu Changge possibly be so kind as to give her a way out?
“I don’t think your Shifu and the others would miss you. Things are probably more peaceful for them with you gone.”
Gu Changge shook his head slightly, completely oblivious to Gu Xianer’s frosty glare.
Gu Xianer felt that those words weren’t about her Shifus at all—he was talking about himself.
“Young Master Changge is right. Xianer, you should stay here and keep us company. We haven’t properly seen each other in all these years.”
Mrs. Shen spoke up at this point as well, wishing nothing more than for Gu Xianer to stay by her side, feeling that being with Gu Changge was dangerous.
In her eyes, Gu Changge’s methods had nothing whatsoever to do with being a good person—yet Gu Xianer trusted him so deeply.
The words “I want to go with him” were practically written all over her little face.
“I have quite a few cultivation questions I need to ask Shifu and the others...”
A look of difficulty appeared on Gu Xianer’s face.
She really did have questions to ask—this was no fabrication.
“Forget it. Since Xianer wants to leave, let her leave.
After all... we’ll be right here at the Shen Family. Whenever she wants to see us, she can come back anytime.”
At this point, it was Father Gu who spoke up, waving a hand to cut off Mrs. Shen.
He knew Gu Xianer’s mind was made up and she couldn’t be kept, so he might as well let her go.
Mrs. Shen sighed, glanced at Gu Changge, then at Gu Xianer, and suddenly felt that this was truly a cursed fate.
Back when she was very little... Gu Xianer had been like a little tail, sticking close behind Gu Changge—wherever he went, she followed.
Then she suffered a terrible loss: her Great Dao Bone was dug out, and she nearly lost her life. And now she still hadn’t learned her lesson.
She was afraid the girl would be sold off by Gu Changge and still help him count the money. Hearing her parents say this, Gu Xianer immediately breathed a sigh of relief and shot Gu Changge a somewhat smug glance.
“I still think it’d be better for Xianer to stay here...”
Gu Changge noticed her expression and said with an unchanged face.
Gu Xianer felt she was being despised by Gu Changge, and her heart burned with indignation. It had always been her who despised him.
He actually dared to despise her—how outrageous! Shen Xian’er, who had been silent at the side all along, was seeing this “mature and steady” older sister of hers act like this for the first time, and her curiosity was greatly piqued.
“I heard from Xianer that you’re very interested in the ways of the Dao. As your clan brother, I don’t have anything particularly good as a first-meeting gift.”
“This Jade Tablet is something I obtained during my travels in my youth. It records many profound and wondrous Daoist arts.”
“Today, I’ll give it to little sister Xian’er as a first-meeting gift.”
At this point, Gu Changge seemed to only just notice Shen Xian’er, and spoke with a faint smile.
He took out a crystalline Jade Tablet from his robes, streaks of divine radiance interweaving across its surface, appearing mysterious and ancient.
Gu Changge handed it to the somewhat dazed Shen Xian’er. For a moment, she hesitated, unsure whether she should accept it.
Since it was a Jade Tablet gifted by Gu Changge, it certainly couldn’t be anything ordinary.
But considering the relationship between her parents and Gu Changge, she felt she shouldn’t accept it.
“Since it’s a gift from Young Master Changge, Xian’er, you should accept it.
Hurry and thank Young Master Changge.”
Mrs. Shen sighed inwardly, knowing that because of their situation, Shen Xian’er harbored reservations toward the Gu Family as well.
Otherwise, with her talent, if she were in the Gu Family, she would absolutely shine brilliantly.
At the end of the day, it was they who had held her back.
“Thank you, Young Master Changge.”
Hearing this, Shen Xian’er accepted the Jade Tablet and raised her eyes, glancing at Gu Changge—only to find that he had been staring at her the whole time, as if flowers were blooming on her face.
This made her somewhat uncomfortable, and she lowered her gaze.
However, Gu Changge quickly withdrew his gaze and chuckled softly, “No need to be polite, little sister Xian’er. This is my token.”
“If you ever wish to return to the Gu Family, you need only activate this item, and someone will naturally come to this world to fetch you.”
“With your talent, you shouldn’t be buried in a place like this.”
As he spoke, he handed her a Jade Pendant.
He had a feeling that more things would happen around Shen Xian’er, so he was leaving himself a precaution.
“Mm.”
Shen Xian’er accepted the Jade Pendant and nodded. In her heart, she actually yearned quite a bit for... the Beyond.
After all, that was the birthplace of the Daoist arts, the irreplaceable holy land of cultivation in the hearts of all Cultivators.
She felt that Gu Changge wasn’t the utterly heinous villain her parents made him out to be.
Seeing this, Gu Xianer actually wanted to take her little sister along as well, but she knew this matter wasn’t hers to decide.
Afterward, she bid farewell to her parents and her sister, then left the Shen Family together with Gu Changge, planning to return to the Beyond and depart the Heavenly Tide Realm.
From beginning to end, he never once mentioned the events of that year to Gu Xianer’s parents. Though they wanted to know the reason, they could only let it go, and inwardly they began to faintly believe Gu Xianer’s account.
Gu Changge... it seemed he really did have his own unspeakable difficulties.
“He’s finally gone...”
“That was truly suffocating.”
The Ancestor of the Shen Family and the many elders all came to the mountain gate to see them off, heaving long sighs of relief.
The sensation caused in the Heavenly Tide Realm was, to Gu Changge, utterly not worth caring about. The haul of Fortuity points he’d reaped, however, allowed him to exchange for several more Absolute Detachment bones.
And after his departure, the Heavenly Tide Realm remained in turmoil, as the War Immortal affair triggered a massive earthquake.
The many implicated powers were all seized with lingering dread—their Ancestors dead in tragedy, their Life Talismans shattered.
If they ended up following in the Blazing Moon Holy Land’s footsteps, wouldn’t they die of regret? Furthermore, due to the Beyond’s campaign against the Eight Wastelands and Ten Domains, the aftershocks of battle reached beyond the Heavenly Tide Realm. The barrier grew unstable, showing signs of rupture.
Many Cultivators felt imperiled, sensing that before long, the Heavenly Tide Realm would inevitably bear the brunt and suffer a great calamity.
Not long after leaving the Heavenly Tide Realm, Gu Changge did not take Gu Xianer to Peach Village first. Instead, he appeared atop a mountain peak not far from the Boundary Marker Sea.
Looking into the distance, the far reaches were filled with endless yellow sand, within which submerged bones could be seen.
“What’s this?”
Gu Xianer looked curiously at the Hongmeng Purple Mirror in his hand.
“A divine artifact for peering into the secrets of heaven.”
Gu Changge glanced at her. “If you dare get any ideas about it, I’ll find a place to dump you.”
“You dare!”
“I... I was just asking. Why are you so petty?”
Gu Xianer, her thoughts seen through in one shot, was somewhat indignant.
Just then, as Gu Changge’s magic power surged, the hazy surface of the Hongmeng Purple Mirror suddenly became clear, and an image emerged.
Within it was a hunchbacked old man.
“So the soul-nurturing ground is over there.”
Gu Changge’s expression held a trace of interest.
“Gu Changge...”
“My lord had no grievance or enmity with you, yet you struck so viciously. This is simply bullying others too far.”
Near the Boundary Marker Sea, an old man who was gathering the mysterious energy within the waves heard this news, his face filled with hatred and fury.
However, he forcibly endured it. In his hand he held a jade jar, within which were sealed numerous clusters of energy light.
He was the War Immortal’s old servant, and all these years he had been running about everywhere for the sake of resurrecting the War Immortal.
Now, near the Boundary Marker Sea, there were the Sources and memories of many powerful figures who had died in the great war of the past, scattered in utter disarray.
And he was searching for the War Immortal’s Physique that had collapsed back then, within which lay the War Immortal’s Source that had yet to dissipate.
The cultivation method the War Immortal practiced focused on the Physique; on this path he stood at the absolute peak, with few able to match him.
Thus, even though he had fallen for many years, as long as his once-collapsed Physique could be found and reassembled, the War Immortal could truly return.
The Li Xiu who had died tragically at the Shen Family was merely a vessel controlled by a portion of the War Immortal’s awakened memories.
But even so, in the old man’s eyes, Li Xiu was the War Immortal’s new life, with the hope of allowing him to truly return.
Yet now, that hope had been forcibly erased by Gu Changge. How could he not be furious? Then, jade jar in hand, the old man headed toward a certain ruptured spatial rift near the Boundary Marker Sea.
His figure flashed, and the many Array Patterns covering its surface dispersed. He smoothly entered within.
