What Fine Ancient Corpses — Gu Xianer Is in Trouble
What Fine Ancient Corpses — Gu Xianer Is in Trouble
Time flowed on.
In the blink of an eye, several days had passed.
In a vast, boundless region in the east of the Celestial Ancient Continent.
Boom!
A mountain range like an earth dragon suddenly exploded apart, struck by a terrifying attack.
A Forbidden Weapon resembling a Heaven Encompassing Umbrella appeared high in the sky, hanging down thousands upon thousands of strands of divine radiance, and the mountain peaks below instantly turned to dust.
“Catch her, don’t let her get away!”
A large group of sea race creatures pursued from behind, shouting loudly.
From among them burst a slender figure.
She transformed into a divine rainbow, her speed increasing even further — she seemed to possess some secret art that multiplied her speed many times over.
“These people really cling like ghosts that won’t disperse. Just how far does the sea race’s influence reach?”
Gu Xianer’s brows were tightly furrowed, her face showing traces of weariness.
Glancing back, she summoned a black long saber wreathed in runes. Its saber aura swept vast and boundless through the air, cutting down every last one of the sea race creatures chasing her.
She had been hunted continuously these past few days — this was already the third wave today. If her senses hadn’t been sharp just now, she would already have been gravely wounded by that Forbidden Weapon.
“That girl in green is still being hunted...”
“How pitiful! Having offended the sea race, no one in this entire region dares to help her.”
“I heard her surname is Gu, and that she’s connected to the Gu Family’s Young Master. Who knows if it’s true or not.”
“Even if it’s true, word is she has a feud with the Gu Family’s Young Master... Such a breathtakingly beautiful young lady — what a shame...”
“Even the disciples of the Skyward Schloss who saw it didn’t dare step in to help her.”
A large crowd of Cultivators witnessed this scene, utterly shocked, yet they only dared to watch from far away.
These past days, such sights had become common in this region.
The news had also spread far and wide, and many Cultivators had come rushing over to join the spectacle.
The Ancient Sea Palace’s power was immense. Even though they knew this young woman was suspected to be connected to Gu Changge, they remained utterly unscrupulous, continuously sending sea race members to hunt her down.
A great many sea race creatures had come to the Celestial Ancient Continent this time, all obeying the Ancient Sea Palace’s commands.
The Seventh Princess had even declared that whoever helped her capture this young woman would be richly rewarded with Transcendent artifacts — and could even earn a favor from her personally.
This bounty was extremely tempting.
However, many Cultivators considered that this young woman was, after all, surnamed Gu... and her relationship with Gu Changge was impossible to pin down.
This was the sort of matter they dared not meddle in.
So they could only watch the show from afar.
“Damn it, why are there so many of them...”
Gu Xianer’s expression was cold as frost. She had only just shaken off one group and hadn’t even had time to rest before running into another wave.
The void trembled as vast fluctuations of Divine Chains of Order surged forth — another Forbidden Weapon, immensely powerful.
The mountain peaks before her instantly exploded apart. She too was caught in the blast, her blood and qi churning violently, a sweetness rising in her throat — she had been injured by the shockwave.
Though Gu Xianer’s physique was extraordinary, after being hunted for so many days without a single moment of rest, she was now utterly exhausted.
This filled her with fury and frustration, yet she had no other options.
Those sea race creatures were like maggots clinging to bone — impossible to shake off. She would kill one wave only for another to come.
Among them were even several Young Prodigies of the Honoured King Realm. Facing their combined assault, Gu Xianer had no choice but to flee.
In truth... she still had means she could use — the artifacts bestowed upon her by her several shifus.
But this was merely a conflict among peers. She didn’t want to waste them on something like this, and besides, this could count as a form of tempering and experience.
But now... Gu Xianer was starting to regret it a little. Why had she killed that young man back then? This grudge had indeed grown enormous.
That look in his eyes back then had truly enraged her, filling her with killing intent.
“It’s all Gu Changge’s fault. If he hadn’t put me in a bad mood, why would I have killed that man...”
“Either way, it’s all his fault. I’ll settle the whole account with him.”
Once again, Gu Xianer pinned the blame squarely on Gu Changge’s head.
And hadn’t he said he wouldn’t allow anyone to bully her?
Yet now, while she was being hunted by a pack of small-fry shrimp soldiers and crab generals, chased from one end of the region to the other, he was nowhere to be seen.
It would have been better not to think of Gu Changge at all.
The moment she thought of him, Gu Xianer grew angrier and angrier — and toward the end, even felt a little wronged.
She actually knew full well that she was flattering herself. After all, Gu Changge had long since stopped paying her any attention.
So why would he care whether she lived or died?
After all, if she died... there would be no one left to seek revenge on him.
Naturally, Gu Changge ought to be delighted.
The Ancient Sea Palace hunting her down — such news had long since alarmed the Young Prodigies of every region. With Gu Changge’s overwhelming power and influence and his countless followers, how could he possibly not have heard?
Yet after all these days, he had never come to help her.
That alone made Gu Changge’s attitude perfectly clear.
“Gu Xianer, what are you thinking? What are you still hoping for?”
Soon, Gu Xianer shook her head, casting the stray thoughts from her mind.
She continued her flight, a pair of resplendent wings faintly emerging behind her, wreathed in runes — a supreme-speed divine ability.
Fortunately, her shifus had taught her a great many techniques.
For the time being, at least, nothing would go seriously wrong.
Yet in her heart, Gu Xianer still felt an inexplicable trace of loss.
...
“So this is a settlement of the natives?”
At the same time.
Gu Changge stood with great interest atop a mountain peak. From his vantage point, he could see a valley stretching out ahead of them.
The valley was ringed by a range of towering purple mountains, each one exuding violet mist, hazy and indistinct.
The valley interior was vast and open, filled with great swaths of ruins and cities.
There were dozens of grand palaces, along with numerous halls and pavilions — it seemed this place had once been a sacred land.
“Daren, this is where our tribe resides.”
Before Gu Changge, these native creatures knelt prostrate on the ground, their faces pale with terror as they spoke, trembling.
They had carefully led the way for Gu Changge, bringing him here.
Within the city ahead were the experts of their tribe, who might be able to save them.
And so, while they appeared to kneel in terror, they were secretly attempting to use a secret technique to contact those within...
However, Gu Changge glanced at them, a strange light in his eyes.
Then, with a pu sound, several bursts of blood mist exploded before him.
The bodies of these creatures collapsed outright, utterly unable to withstand the pressure of Gu Changge’s gaze.
How could Gu Changge fail to anticipate their little scheme? And even if he had guessed wrong, it hardly mattered.
“Wait for me here.”
Then Gu Changge spoke indifferently to the group of followers behind him. As his words fell, his figure grew blurry.
The void warped, and he vanished outright.
“Yes, Master.”
His followers had long since grown accustomed to Gu Changge’s various powerful and mysterious methods.
They dared not inquire into his purposes.
If Gu Changge told them to wait here, then they would honestly obey and wait right here.
Soon, Gu Changge’s figure was shuttling through the void.
Weng!
He had already noticed the many creatures within this ruined ancient city. Their auras were powerful — most were existences of the Enlightenment Realm, with no shortage of True Enlightened Realm and Enlightened Noble Realm beings.
There were even some at the Enlightened King Realm, and a few at the Sacred Realm as well.
They sat cross-legged within various palaces, divine light flowing over their bodies, cultivating in utter stillness.
“If I launched a sneak attack, killing this Sacred Realm being wouldn’t be difficult...”
“But first, I should go take a look inside these natives’ ancestral tomb.”
At this moment, Gu Changge’s figure was merged into the void itself, and in his palm a golden, glittering rune flickered.
The Divine Concealment Rune — it could perfectly mask his current aura.
Judging by the strength of these natives, Gu Changge guessed that the ancestors buried in their ancestral tomb would not be weak.
At the very least, they should be at the Perfect Prodigy level...
He had a feeling that this time he could slip right in and break through to the Enlightened King Realm in one go.
As long as there was enough Source essence, even the Quasi-Sacred Realm was not out of reach.
As the saying goes, fortune is found amid danger — and besides, for him, this hardly counted as dangerous at all.
Gu Changge had countless trump cards. Even if a Sacred Lord Realm being or a Perfect Prodigy lay hidden within, he wouldn’t panic in the slightest.
Weng!
The void trembled faintly, but the disturbance drew no attention.
Gu Changge smoothly made his way toward the depths of these ruins, passing through swaths of buildings and palaces, heading straight for the innermost area.
From time to time, a vast divine sense swept down, like Mount Tai crashing down upon him, making even Gu Changge frown.
“Within this little ruin, there really is an existence surpassing the Perfect Prodigy level...”
Of course, Gu Changge wasn’t worried. He still had his Internal World — if anything went wrong, he could simply dive into it first.
Moreover, he knew the burial customs of these natives, so he had no fear of failing to locate the true ancestral tomb.
The journey was safe, without causing the slightest sound or ripple.
About a quarter of an hour later.
Gu Changge finally spotted a tomb cavern — tall and ancient, its surroundings carved with archaic script whose patterns indicated an age of at least ten million years.
Beyond that, he noticed numerous Array Patterns laid out here, along with several altars.
Before the tomb cavern stood two powerful guardians — creatures with purple faces and centipede-like forms, their strength at the Quasi-Sacred Realm level.
“The tombs of the Celestial Ancient Continent have been nourished by the essence of sun and moon and spiritual energy over countless ages. The Source essence remaining within should be considerable — at least several times that of the ancient corpses outside...”
“If they discover their ancestral grave has been dug up, they’ll probably go mad. Ye Ling, whether you want to take the blame for this or not, you don’t have a choice.”
A trace of amusement crossed Gu Changge’s face. The moment the thought crossed his mind—
The void blurred, and his figure stepped out from within it in an instant.
At the same time, the Eight Barren Demon Halberd, surging with sky-blotting demonic qi, stretched across the air. Gripped in his hand, it cleaved straight down as if annihilating a universe, clanging and ringing.
“Who’s there?!”
The two creatures before him were utterly shocked, but before they could react—
A blinding black light flashed before their eyes!
Pu!
Hard scales instantly burst apart, blood splattering everywhere!
One of them was swept by Gu Changge’s halberd, its body torn open outright, impaled in midair.
A Quasi-Sacred Realm body was like rotten paper before the Eight Barren Demon Halberd’s edge — utterly unable to withstand it!
“What are you?!”
The other creature was dumbstruck. It had never imagined that such a young man would appear here at their ancestral tomb.
And its companion had been grievously wounded in an instant, losing all combat capability.
“If you don’t want to die, kindly step aside,” Gu Changge said with a casual smile, showing not the slightest awareness that he had just launched a sneak attack.
“You...”
The other creature shook with rage, understanding the meaning in Gu Changge’s divine sense.
Its vast Quasi-Sacred pressure was just about to erupt when black light tore through the air once more — pu! — and its arm was sliced clean off, black blood spraying everywhere!
Gu Changge’s expression was relaxed. Without much trouble at all, he dealt with them both.
Soon, he avoided the Array Patterns before him and entered the ancestral tomb.
Boom!
An ancient, decayed aura of rot came rushing to meet him!
Gu Changge swept the Eight Barren Demon Halberd across, smashing open every coffin before him.
Amid a series of thuds, corpse after corpse tumbled out.
“Looks like the harvest should be quite good.” Gu Changge was somewhat satisfied.
In his own words, these qualified as premium-grade corpses.
The corpses before him contained dense essence — men and women, old and young, dressed in different garments belonging to different dynasties and eras, all of them extremely distant from the present.
They were a group of inconceivably ancient dead.
The weakest among them had been at the Sacred Lord Realm in life, and now they looked unspeakably eerie.
There was an Old Daoist Priest in a tattered feathered robe, exuding an aura of decay, as if he had just been dug out of a grave mound.
There was an ancient sovereign wearing a damaged purple-gold crown, as though he had just crawled out of the earth.
There was also a Gifted Lady clad in heavenly silkworm divine silk, though her dress was worn and tattered, as if gnawed upon by demonic beasts.
Additionally, there was a monk draped in kasaya robes, his skin shriveled yet gleaming as if cast from gold.
...
There were also beings of the primordial myriad races — enormously tall, though their wings were cracked and withered...
As Gu Changge made his move against them, pitch-black Grand Runes emerged one after another in his palm, transforming into order-like laws.
The corpses all began to rise and sink, floating up and down.
Strands of green light like rosy clouds emerged from within the corpses — like essence, yet also like starlight, magnificent and fantastical.
Gu Changge sat cross-legged there, a gateway faintly appearing behind him. Strands of black light hung down from it, forming a pitch-black Grand Flask that devoured all the radiance pouring into it.
He was refining and absorbing it all, the aura around his body continuously rising.
One pitch-black vortex after another emerged from between his cells, eerie and mysterious.
...
Time flowed on. Three days had passed since Gu Changge delved into the ancestral tomb within this small ruin.
At this moment, within a vast mountain range.
Traces of blood lingered at the corner of Gu Xianer’s mouth as she coldly stared ahead.
Boundless white mist came rolling in from all directions, engulfing an area of tens of thousands of miles.
Runes flickered within it, and the aura of Array Patterns permeated the air — incomparably powerful.
The sea race had long since lain in ambush here.
Sea race ferocious beasts appeared on every side.
Their bodies were unimaginably enormous, terrifying to the point of awe, runes blazing across their forms, each one like a small mountain.
To hunt her down, the Ancient Sea Palace’s Seventh Princess had dispatched numerous sea race prodigies.
The vengeance for her slain brother — she would not rest until it was repaid.
Moreover, during this period, Gu Xianer had killed many of the sea race members she had sent, slapping her in the face and making the Seventh Princess even more furious.
Now she had laid down the Ancient Sea Formation, sealing off the entire region where Gu Xianer was, all to capture her.
This place, shrouded in white mist, felt like the open sea.
Lightning flashed and thunder roared; violent winds and torrential rain raged, utterly dreadful, as all manner of runes and divine abilities interwove in dazzling brilliance.
At the same time, it drew in the many Cultivators of this region, all watching from afar with varied expressions.
“That Seventh Princess of the Ancient Sea Palace is truly ruthless — she sent so many people to hunt down this young woman, and now she’s even deployed the Ancient Sea Formation. Even a True Enlightened Realm being would find it hard to escape!”
“But a brother’s murder is a vengeance that cannot coexist under the same sky — who can she blame?”
“I heard that when the Crown Heir of the Unrivaled Celestial Dynasty rushed over, she was held up by another young female prodigy. The two are currently locked in battle — she likely won’t be able to come to the rescue anytime soon.”
While the many Cultivators were discussing—
A tremendous sound suddenly came from the horizon.
A heaven-startling momentum approached; the world itself seemed to riot as the sound of hoofbeats rang out.
Heart-pounding, like thousands of troops and horses galloping forth to slaughter, golden weapons blotting the sky, the din of battle shaking heaven and earth.
A golden battle horse trod across the sky.
Golden flames burned upon its hooves.
Upon it sat a blue-haired woman clad in golden armor, a spear in her right hand, her expression cold and disdainful.
She stared at Gu Xianer within the mountain range ahead — whose small face was icy and pale — and sneered,
“Little girl, where will you run to today?”
The many sea race members nearby all spoke respectfully in unison at the sight: “We welcome the Seventh Princess!”
The faces of all the Cultivators watching from afar changed drastically. “Sss! This Seventh Princess of the Ancient Sea Palace — her aura is so powerful! She’s actually broken through to the Peak Honoured King Realm!”
“No wonder she’s so bold — she truly has the makings of an invincible!”
They were all stunned. This Seventh Princess’s strength was truly terrifying. That she dared to command a host of sea race prodigies and Young Prodigies was not without reason.
