The Crazy Bastard of This Area
The Crazy Bastard of This Area
Crash-bang-crash-clatter!!!
Along with the shattering glass door and the loudly echoing sound, not only the zombies the woman had lured, but even other zombies nearby started to flock over.
Fuck....
It's not like I became a psychopath in just a few days, so what on earth am I trusting to act so recklessly?
Of course, I didn't pull off a stunt like this without any plan in my head.
However, resentment and doubts toward myself for not being able to hold back my momentary anger and pulling off such a stunt naturally come flooding in.
Well, right now isn't the time to be worrying about crap like that, though.
First off, the approaching zombies... aren't the problem; what the hell is wrong with these bastards that they still aren't crawling out?!
"Get out here, you bastards!!"
"Go fuck yourself, you crazy bastard!!"
"Aren't you a total psycho?! Get bitten and die by a zombie, you madman!!"
"We, we gotta run!!"
"Run my ass!"
First, I need to deal with the two bastards pushing with all their might against the display shelf I brought over to block the door.
No, I just need to deal with those guys.
Because then there'd be no need to run away at all.
Thud!! Thud!!
I try kicking it to knock the display shelf down, but with two strapping men determinedly pushing their bodies against it, the shelf shows no signs of tipping over.
Fuck, if it won't go in, I can just pull it out!
Grab! Grab!
Rat-a-tat-tat-tat-tat!!!
Like an angry gorilla trapped in a cage, I grab the barred display shelf and shake it like crazy, but this doesn't work out easily either.
Naturally, since it's not sized to get out of the door in the first place unless laid flat and pulled out.
That's why I blocked the entrance with that thing in the first place.
Dammit....
I thought that once I smashed the door, those guys would get startled and come outside.
If so, I planned to go inside, hide in a safe storage room first, wait for the zombies to scatter, and then either take the supplies and go somewhere else or block the entrance with something heavier than the display shelf, but....
"Hey, this won't work. Let's duck away for a moment and then..."
"Eeeek!!"
"When did she leave..?"
Before I knew it, the woman had left my side, screaming as she bolted back into the building she had come out of.
Well, it's not like that woman or I had any loyalty to uphold to each other anyway.
Anyway...
"Give me my hoe back before you go!!!"
Fuck, that bitch is running away even with the hoe I entrusted to her!
Take on this many zombies bare-handed?
Absolute suicide.
Well, having the hoe wouldn't change things drastically, though.
Anyway, I can't just be standing around here like this anymore either.
First, following that woman to take cover, then....
"Hehehe.."
As soon as I turn my body sideways and take a step, a chuckle suddenly slips out.
As I was about to cross the alley following the woman, a very familiar red object caught the edge of my left eye's vision.
It was none other than that red fire extinguisher the woman had hurled when she smashed the store's glass window.
Dash-
Without thinking twice, I dashed into the narrow alley, grabbed the fire extinguisher, spun my body around, and hurled it just like that.
Where?
Toward the convenience store's glass wall, of course.
Crash-crunch!!!
As expected, one shot isn't enough.
It didn't break, but a dense, spiderweb-like crack formed where it collided with the thrown fire extinguisher, and just as I reached down to pick up the extinguisher again to smash it for sure.
"N-No, stop it! Don't do it!!!"
"Fuck! Just get the hell out of here, you crazy bastard!!!"
Turning their heads while blocking the display shelf being pushed by zombies with their bodies, the two men glared at me and shouted, to which I smiled brightly and replied:
"Nah."
If I was just going to leave, I wouldn't have pulled off such a crazy stunt in the first place.
And....
Grab-
"I told you you'd regret it, you bastards!!!"
Whoosh-swoosh-!
Crash-bang-crash-clatter!!!
Ah, seeing that glass wall get smashed to pieces is so refreshing!
As a bonus, those faces staring at the broken glass wall with widened eyes in shock are a sight to see, too.
Now for today's lesson.
"You don't mess with a crazy bastard."
Now that my business here was done, I coolly turned around without a shred of lingering attachment.
However, I wasn't the only crazy bastard in this area.
The real crazy bastard is that guy.
"Why the hell do you keep showing up?!"
"Keugh..! Keugh..! Keugh..!"
The sighted zombie that kept showing up with a horde of zombies to torment me whenever I forgot about it appeared once again, leading a bunch of zombies.
"Kuaaah!!"
The bastard rushed toward me along with the horde of zombies it had led while letting out a bizarre scream.
However, the distance to the building with the broken storefront window is closer than the roadside where that bastard currently is.
Dash-
Grab!
Quickly turning my body and diving back into the store, I yanked out a standing mannequin, tucked it under my arm, and started running.
"Gah!"
"Get lost!!"
Twisting my waist, I slammed into the zombie that had entered the store following the woman who fled first.
Crack-!
Along with the zombie toppling sideways, the mannequin's upper and lower bodies separated.
I threw the lower body I was holding backward toward the chasing bastards, then picked up the two arms of the mannequin that had fallen to the floor.
"Bring it on!"
Wearing white underwear, brown shoes, and holding the detached mannequin arms in both hands while striking a pose to the max, my reflection shows in the mirror inside the store.
Fuck, the real crazy bastard of this area isn't that guy, it's definitely me.
So what if I'm a madman?
Squeeze-!
Griping the mannequin's wrist in my hand with all my might, I began swinging toward the rushing zombies.
Whoosh-!
Light.
Way too light!
Even as I swing it, I can feel that my attacks won't do much real damage.
Still, there's no need to beat all these guys to death right now.
I've already delivered a solid blow to those petty thief bastards, so as long as I secure my own safety now, that's that.
Thud! Thud! Thud!
Swinging the mannequin's arms alternately with both hands, I slapped the charging zombies right across the cheek and slowly backed away, before the staggering bastards pushed aside without falling could pounce again, I shoved the door with my rear and quickly slipped out of the store.
"Gah!!"
"Just how many did you drag along with you?!"
Thud!!
Smacking the chin of a zombie turning toward me on the top of the stairs, I swung the mannequin arm in my left hand to whack the knee of a zombie that wouldn't go down, and only after striking the face of the zombie that was leaning sideways to collapse once more, I hopped over the guy rolling down the stairs and started striding up the steps.
Beating up the zombies that relentlessly attacked one after another.
Having painstakingly made my way up to the second floor, I.
Rattle! Rattle! Rattle!
"Open the door, you crazy bitch!!"
Click-
"Gah!!"
The lock immediately clicked open at my voice; along with that sound and the zombie's bizarre roar coming from behind me, I whirled around and swung the mannequin arms in both hands inward simultaneously.
Wham!!
Smacking both cheeks of the zombie at the same time like swatting a mosquito, I kicked the chest of the shivering bastard, hurled the arms I was holding toward the ones sprinting up the stairs, shoved the door open with my back, and went inside.
Click!
Along with the locking mechanism engaging, I shoved the woman aside as she stood plastered against the wall staring at me, and pressed my own body tightly against the wall as well.
Because I needed to disappear from that bastard's field of vision first.
"Keugh..! Keugh..! Keugh..!"
The rough breathing leaking through the gap in the door.
"Kuaaaah!!"
Thud!!
Fuck, what the hell?! Can it see me?!
Unlike before, despite hiding my appearance, the zombie's action of pounding on the door made me check if my reflection was showing in any mirror inside the store, but there were no mirrors at an angle where the bastard right in front of the door could possibly see me.
Waiting while holding my breath for a moment, the heavy-breathing zombie went off somewhere else with the sound of descending stairs, and I swiftly whirled around and slammed my forehead down onto the top of the woman's head.
Thump!
"Aah!! Why again?!"
"How could you run away with my weapon?! You should've handed it back!"
"Ah... here.."
"What good is it now..!"
"......"
Ignoring the woman's hand holding out the hoe, I walked over to the window where the noisy, bizarre cries of zombies could be heard and looked down at the convenience store where the zombies would be having a feast.
However....
"Hold out!! Just hold out!!"
"Keep it down..! Stop screaming so much!!"
"Ah...."
The guy screaming and exciting the zombies even more, and the guy screaming at the screamer telling him not to scream, were still holding out.
One guy was holding out by blocking the display shelf near the entrance with his body, and the other guy was plugging the glass wall I broke with a display shelf.
"Ha... those bastards, seriously..!"
Seeing the guys I thought would be dead alive and well, a fire reignited in my chest that had felt so refreshed when the glass wall shattered.
Should I go down and smash it one more time?
Nah, the sighted bastard went down there anyway, so it'll take care of itself.
"Keugh..! Keugh..! Keugh..!"
As soon as I thought about it, the bastard that showed up in the alley spotted the guy blocking the broken glass wall with the display shelf and let out a bizarre scream.
"Sit down and block it! That bastard is someone who can see!!"
"Please stop screaming..!!"
They look overwhelmed, but they're dealing with it fairly well in their own way.
They really piss me off... no, wait, is this actually for the better?
Yeah, it's actually for the better.
"Hehehe...."
I'll show you properly.
What a real crazy bastard is.
About 10 minutes later, the zombies' interest started to gradually cool down.
Now, the two guys inside the convenience store weren't making a sound, and the sighted bastard had led its horde away to somewhere else.
At this rate, it's unquestionably their victory.
However, there is no possibility that those guys will take that convenience store away from me.
Though it's become hard for me to take it back, too.
"What do we do now..?"
"About what?"
"If those people are blocking that place like that, we won't be able to get food and water.."
"Even if you could get it, it wouldn't be yours. And they won't last long anyway."
"......"
"Stop staring at me like that and go bring something throwable."
Pouting her lips at my words, the woman stood up and started looking around, bringing this and that.
Mannequins, flowerpots, small mirrors, water cups, tumblers, and so on.
"Will this do..?"
"Bring more. I'm going to throw them until those bastards die."
"......"
Staring at me blankly, she turned her body around again to search for things to throw. Leaving her behind, I first picked up a fairly thick glass water cup and hurled it downward.
Smash-!
Strike.
The glass cup collided with the display shelf the man had his back to, shattering into pieces and apparently piercing through between the barred display shelves as a scream echoed.
"Aargh!!"
Sounds good.
But this is just the beginning.
There's still plenty of stuff to throw...
"Are you alright?! That fucking crazy bastard, seriously..!"
"Quiet..! Please shut your fucking trap, you fucking bastard!!"
"What?! Fucking bastard?? Why the fuck is this son of a bitch getting mad at me?!"
"Shut up! Shut the fuck up, you son of a bitch!! Before I kill you first!!"
"What the hell is wrong with those guys...."
I meant to keep throwing things like the glass cup I just threw so the zombies' interest wouldn't fade, but they're screaming at each other and exciting the zombies on their own.
Idiotic bastards.
Whether they were reaching their mental limit or their physical limit, they probably wouldn't have lasted much longer even without my intervention anyway.
Still, I've got to finish things off with my own hands.
Isn't that how you properly school someone?
Whoosh!!
Smash-!
The flying water cup collided with the display shelf again and shattered to pieces.
"Aargh!! You fucking bastard!!! Why the hell are you doing this to us?!!"
"That convenience store is mine. And if you had opened the door when I told you to open it, things like this wouldn't have happened~ It's all things you brought upon yourselves, so don't blame me."
"Gah!!"
"Kuaah!!"
"Don't look here. Look over there."
Whoosh!!
Smash!!!
I hurled a water cup once more, diverting the attention of the zombies lifting their heads toward me back to the display shelf the man had his back to.
After throwing all 6 of the water cups, as well as flowerpots, mirrors, tumblers, and even tearing apart the mannequin by parts to throw them.
"Uwaaaah!!!"
Unable to handle the relentless rush of pushing zombies, the man let out a scream as he was crushed under the toppling display shelf.
And the guy who had been blocking the entrance area, without even thinking of rescuing his apparent friend, as the zombies gathered in front of the entrance turned the corner and swarmed toward the broken glass wall.
"I'm sorry, Hosuk!!"
He bolted out of the convenience store, pulling the display shelf along with him.
Though it doesn't seem like there was any need to apologize.
Because that bastard too....
"Aargh!!!"
"Gah!!"
"Kuaah!"
"Kua!!"
Crunch! Crunch! Crunch!
Was instantly swarmed by the zombies pouncing from the side and had his limbs torn apart and eaten.
Sigh, human life is truly as fragile as a fly's.
That's why you shouldn't eye someone else's convenience store! Especially not my convenience store.
"Tsk tsk tsk... May you live your next life protecting only what's yours instead of being greedy for others' things...."
As I clicked my tongue and shook my head, paying condolences to the two men who made foolish choices, this woman yanked at my underwear again.
"Do you want it? Why do you keep pulling on my underwear?!"
"There's nothing else to grab.."
"Ah... that's true. But why?"
"Can't you hear it..?"
"What?"
"This sound."
"What sound..."
Swish!!
Instantly, my head was lifted up toward the sky.
I hadn't heard it because I was concentrating on those bastards and the zombies' noises were echoing so loudly, but this was definitely....
"A helicopter.."
The sound of a helicopter propeller.
It's not very loud, but it's unmistakable.
However, it wasn't visible to my eyes right now, but as I moved along the glass wall toward the roadside, I could see a helicopter flying off somewhere.
Yongsan? Yeouido? The Blue House?
I couldn't know exactly where it was heading, but the direction of travel was west.
And the fact that a helicopter is flying means that some force capable of operating a helicopter—whether the police or the military—still remains.
If so, the possibility of an evacuation shelter or something similar being set up is very high.
"What are you going to do..?"
The woman's question floating over must be asking whether we'll move to find where that helicopter is flying, or just remain here and wait until a rescue team arrives.
I am also currently agonizing over that very thing.
Setting off blindly to find an evacuation shelter without knowing the destination or how far we have to travel is sheer madness.
But even if we stay here and wait, would they really come to rescue me?
Of course, they might come eventually.
However, my existence won't be among their priorities.
High-ranking folks, wealthy folks, people close by, people in conspicuous places, and the precious people of those already at the evacuation shelter will be the priorities.
That means if I want to get to an evacuation shelter, waiting is out of the question; I have to go find it myself.
Or else just stay here and survive on my own.
"Hmm..."
Along with deepening wrinkles, a sigh full of frustration puffs out through my nose.
After agonizing over it for a long while, I.
"Alright! I've made my decision."
Reached a conclusion.
