Then it is time to load the car. According to An Ran's plan, she drives her ex-husband's vehicle with the baby in tow, while Hu Zhen and Chen Jiao follow behind with He Wen. Both cars are packed with supplies.
After leaving the hospital, they go their separate ways.
An Ran’s concern for Chen Jiao and Hu Zhen ends there.
However, she is always kind-hearted. Knowing that Hu Zhen and Chen Jiao haven’t killed a zombie since the apocalypse began, she worries they might struggle to adjust to the sudden changes in their lives, especially with a child to care for.
So, she plans to find an opportune moment after packing up all the supplies to gather Chen Jiao and Hu Zhen together. She intends to discuss this matter with them, teaching them about the weaknesses of zombies and how to dispatch them effectively.
Honestly, even though Chen Jiao can be irritating and Hu Zhen prefers to keep the peace, An Ran truly hopes both of them will be okay. Not for any selfish reason, but simply because the three of them have shared so many days in that vast hospital, and they still have He Wen to look after.
The supplies fill two large vehicles. An Ran doesn’t concern herself with what Hu Zhen and Chen Jiao want to pack; she remains silent and resolute. She places the baby carrier she has found earlier—a stylish and safe-looking one—behind the driver's seat.
As for her flowers, An Ran initially intends to bring all of them along, but it soon becomes clear that it is unrealistic to fit all her plants into the car. So she chooses just one pot, the brightest pink snow mountain flower, and insists on placing it in the trunk.
In the dimly lit basement, only the emergency lights on the wall provide weak illumination. Their glow is faint and seems to be fading quickly, threatening to plunge the area into darkness.
Behind An Ran’s car, Chen Jiao is loading her own car with a box of clothes. She complains to An Ran, “We still have so much to load! Your baby carrier takes up an entire seat in the back. What’s the point of that thing? If you want one, I’ll give you a hundred after we get out! And what’s the deal with that flower? What’s it even for?”
While it is understandable to put the baby carrier in the trunk—since An Ran is leading the way and driving alone—what Chen Jiao can’t comprehend is why An Ran insists on bringing a pot of flowers.

An Ran feels exasperated but remains silent, unwilling to engage with Chen Jiao. Soon, she will announce her decision to both Hu Zhen and Chen Jiao. After they rush out of the hospital, she plans to go home to retrieve her ex-husband's knife, while Hu Zhen and Chen Jiao can seek out the government on their own. They can meet again in the future if fate allows.
Standing by her car, An Ran contemplates how to present this bold decision. Meanwhile, the baby in her arms begins to stir. Its fuzzy little head nestles against her chest, stretching out its tiny tongue to lick An Ran’s freshly changed clothes. An Ran quickly adjusts the baby’s head to prevent it from getting her clothes dirty.
