Chapter 625: Direct to Hedong
However, when Luo Feifan ran out and passed by the flesh flower that had already squeezed into the tunnel, he was startled. This plant had just sprouted and already had two huge fleshy petals—how exaggerated would it become once it fully grew?
When Luo Feifan caught up with Zhan Lian, Zhan Lian was already driving a snow off-road vehicle. The car spun in the ice pit. Luo Feifan got into the passenger seat and glanced back.
An Ran and Little Mint were sitting in the back, and An Ran was holding Doll on her lap.
Zhan Lian stepped on the accelerator, and the car shot into the tunnel. Moments later, it burst out of the exit. Behind them, Zhou Zheng and several other Strength-Type Ability Users had spontaneously gathered. They drove another vehicle, filled with hatred toward the Grand Fortune Hotel, determined to kill the leaders inside.
On the white snow, pools of red blood bloomed. The closer they drew to the bridgehead, the more there were. It looked like blood-red flowers scattered across a white canvas—beautiful, yet gruesome.
The fighter planes in the sky spotted several vehicles moving on the ground, but their drones had been nearly destroyed by Zhan Lian. The Grand Fortune Hotel had no real-time surveillance, and Chen Chaofa could not issue any orders.
The men in the planes hesitated—should they blow up the cars?
While they hesitated, Zhan Lian and his group had already driven onto the frozen river and headed east across the glacier. Along the way, they saw many of the young men who had been driven out of the ice tunnel earlier. Most of them had stayed on the west side of the river killing wolves in the snow—but now there were no wolves left. All had been devoured by the fleshy flower.
When one of the vehicles crossed the river and reached the blocked staircase, a metal pillar rose from beneath it, lifting the vehicle and carrying Zhan Lian and his group up the steps to the eastern side of the river.
The young men who had already escaped the river naturally didn’t dare run out and curse An Ran or Zhan Lian, though they still felt resentful—believing they were left to suffer in the midst of natural and man-made disaster because An Ran refused to protect them.
Soon, Zhan Lian’s vehicle arrived at the gate of the Grand Fortune Hotel.
The fighter planes still circled above.
Now that they were right at the gate, Chen Chaofa and the others inside had already noticed their arrival, but no one dared to come out.
Chen Chaofa no longer dared to order a bombing. They were already at the gate of the Grand Fortune Hotel. Order another strike? Wouldn’t that blow himself up too?
In the Grand Fortune Hotel’s surveillance room, the screen showed Zhan Lian’s car stopping. He opened the door and stepped out. He wore black boots, black pants, and a black down jacket. His short, spiky hair stood upright in the icy wind, making him look especially sharp and full of vigor.
A dozen men emerged from the vehicles behind him, cursing and shouting. They were armed with clubs and other weapons, each one looking ferocious, with blood on their faces and hands.
Wu Simiao stood in front of the monitor, pointed at one of the men, and said to Chen Chaofa, “Old Chen, come take a look! Isn’t that Zhou Zheng—the one you wanted to kill? No wonder you couldn’t find him. He really did run off to Hexi.”
So Chen Chaofa hadn’t wrongly accused Hexi. Did Hexi deliberately shelter traitors?
Chen Chaofa’s expression turned ugly. He stared at the surveillance footage, watching as Zhan Lian, Zhou Zheng, and about a dozen armed men entered the hotel, split up, and began searching for someone.
