Chapter 611: Order
Chapter 611: Order
Fatty’s six hundred men originally lived nearby, so they were the first to gather outside An Ran’s villa. Children were crying, adults shouting, the scene dissolving into chaos.
Children cried and adults cried with them; the commotion was loud. Many earth-element ability users, once they arrived, paid no attention to whether there were people behind them and unilaterally began sealing the tunnels leading to An Ran’s villa, both large and small.
Still, many people kept surging toward An Ran. Most of them were strength ability users who forced open the sealed tunnels and shoved their wives and children through them as if tossing away luggage.
Those blocking the tunnel and those forcing their way in quickly clashed. Shouting turned to shoving, shoving to fighting. In a battle for survival, no one had the patience to yield.
The crowd descended into complete disorder.
Yun Tao, Wang Wei, and Luo Feifan were outside trying to maintain order, while Zhao Ru and Liang Ziyu hurriedly bandaged those who’d been trampled.
Fatty ran back out, his voice hoarse from shouting. “Everyone! Into the villa! Maintain order! Maintain order! Elderly people, pregnant women, children—move to the innermost part! Get your kids inside! If you don’t want your children to die, move them in!”
At that, reason snapped. The crowd surged forward, all else forgotten. Parents hoisted their screaming children above their heads, passing them hand to hand over the crowd toward An Ran’s courtyard.
The chaos didn’t stop, but amid the madness, the soldiers kept their composure. Of the sixty or so under Fatty’s command, more than forty were those An Ran and Zhan Lian had once rescued from the meat flower in Xiangcheng. Most had awakened abilities—and a few had awakened elemental or special abilities.
Even those who awakened strength abilities had power above ordinary people.
With their help, Fatty’s group quickly stabilized. People began to line up orderly and close together so An Ran’s plants could safely grow through the ground beneath them.
Still, the panic outside didn’t stop. Beyond the gathered group, more survivors shoved and screamed—elderly, women, children, all pressing forward.
“Send the children in! Send them in!”
“Why aren’t you letting us through? We want in too!”
The cries of women, the curses of men—it was a mess of desperation. But regardless of the shouting, the children were lifted and passed overhead, one after another, into An Ran’s courtyard.
At the exit, the snow wolves had blocked the path completely. Zhan Lian was still fighting, killing the mutants one after another, but the bodies piled up faster than they could be cleared, worsening the congestion in the tunnels.
Fatty’s soldiers fanned out to the perimeter to keep order. Those who refused to listen or tried to force their way in were thrown back without hesitation. Women holding children were carried into the yard first, followed by the elderly wherever there was still space.
Finally, at the outermost edge, the soldiers formed a living barricade. Behind them stood the elderly, women, and children. In front of them, pressing and shouting, were the angry, desperate young survivors.
Some of those at the front, unaware or unwilling to follow orders, began to shove and kick their way forward, screaming at the soldiers blocking their path.
“Damn it, let us through! Let us through!”
