Chapter 582: He Really Likes You
Chapter 582: He Really Likes You
Back then, he had sworn it so solemnly. But how many years had even passed? Zhang Boxun—that great liar—was really dead, wasn’t he? He had to be dead. Otherwise, he would never have failed to come save her.
Tears streamed down Tang Siluo’s face. In her heart, her longing for Zhang Boxun was stronger than it had ever been before.
Perhaps after enduring all these hardships, she had finally realized who the person truly good to her had been all along. But now, it seemed that everything had become just a little too late.
By the time one round was over, Lei Jiang was already getting bored. At the beginning, Tang Siluo had still felt somewhat fresh to him, but every single time it was the same old routine. Halfway through forcing himself on her, Tang Siluo would go limp like a dead fish and stop moving altogether.
Lei Jiang found it unbearably dull.
At that moment, someone knocked at the door outside. Lei Jiang got up, pulled on his clothes, and went to open it. The instant the door opened, his face once again took on that expression of a fine, benevolent gentleman.
On the bed, Tang Siluo lay naked. She could not even be bothered to pull the blanket over herself. Her legs remained spread open as she stared dully out the window. Chunks of ice were still falling from the sky. Why couldn’t one of them just smash Lei Jiang to death and be done with it?
Yet Lei Jiang, wholly indifferent to Tang Siluo’s loathing, finished speaking with the person at the door and shut it again. Then he knelt on one knee beside Tang Siluo’s bed, holding a deep-blue velvet gift box. When he opened it, inside was a backless evening gown.
It had just been delivered by the person who knocked.
Tang Siluo lay on the bed and turned her head away in disgust. She did not want to see such clothes again.
She had come from a military family. Although she had been pampered since childhood, her sense of beauty had always held that nothing was more beautiful than a military uniform. Gifts like these from Lei Jiang—like trinkets given to a caged songbird—had never once won her heart.
What was more, every time he gave her an evening gown, it meant he intended to take her to some social function.
Tang Siluo hated that.
“Luoluo, don’t be like this. Look, this evening gown is very expensive. Regiment Commander Chen sent it to you.”
The moment she heard Lei Jiang say those words, Tang Siluo whipped her head around at once, eyes wide. She stared at Lei Jiang, sat up, snatched the sheet at her side, and wrapped it around herself before demanding sharply,
“Chen Chaofa? Why would he send me an evening gown for no reason?”
“Regiment Commander Chen said he really likes you. Once you accept this gown, from now on, you’ll belong to Regiment Commander Chen.”
Tang Siluo practically sprang up from the bed. Looking at Lei Jiang, she shouted in complete breakdown,
“Are you even human? Lei Jiang, are you even human? Chen Chaofa makes a demand like that and you still expect me to go along with it? Lei Jiang, you beast!”
Lei Jiang still wore a smile on his face, and there was even a trace of pleasure in his expression. Faced with Tang Siluo’s furious curses, not only did he not get angry, he actually threw back his head and laughed, laughing so hard tears came out.
Then suddenly, Lei Jiang stepped onto the soft bed, lunged forward, grabbed Tang Siluo by the hair, and dragged her—wrapped in nothing but a bedsheet—to the window.
Ignoring Tang Siluo’s screams, he threw the window open. A bitter, bone-piercing cold rushed in. Tang Siluo let out a cry and tried to retreat, but Lei Jiang did not allow it. Instead, he shoved Tang Siluo’s head out the window.
“Look for yourself, Tang Siluo. Look at what kind of world is out there. Tang Siluo, Tang Siluo—you’ve been naive all your life, and after everything you’ve been through, you’re still this naive. Look. We all have to survive. We all have to keep living. We have to survive, Tang Siluo!”
