Chapter 570: Whining
Chapter 570: Whining
“I’ve never heard of that before. What, are you planning to play matchmaker in the apocalypse? Fatty squeezed the fat on his cheeks until his already tiny eyes nearly disappeared. Seeing Liu Zhi’s teasing look, he puffed out his chest and volunteered: “I don’t have a girlfriend either. I’m all alone. Sister Zhizi, why don’t you introduce me to someone?”
“Oh, I wouldn’t dare introduce you to anyone,” Liu Zhi said bluntly, pursing her lips in a smile. “You’re not short of women at all. The ones lining up for you could stretch from east to west.”
It was meant as a compliment, but everyone knew Fatty was never short of women. He was also a complete scoundrel. Besides shamelessly fawning over An Ran, he never turned down any woman who approached him. And once he was done, he would simply pull up his pants and deny everything.
He really was scum!
Liu Zhi sighed and said, “I’ve been observing Zhan Lian and Luo Feifan—they’re both very good men. We have a proud little sister who’s already of marriageable age. In these turbulent times, our grandmother worries about her future. I was thinking, Zhan Lian is capable, and Luo Feifan is no pushover. I’d like to introduce her to Luo Feifan, but I wonder if that would be appropriate?”
“Luo Feifan...” Fatty’s thoughts instantly turned to Tang Siluo.
Even the women in his own team didn’t dare hover around Luo Feifan, afraid that if Tang Siluo ever came back, that girl would tear them to pieces.
But Fatty, ever eager for chaos, let his green eyes roll about and immediately nodded in agreement.
“Perfect! Hurry and introduce her to Luo Feifan. Honestly, that guy never shows much interest in women. If this drags on, I’m afraid he and Zhan Lian might end up... you know... something, something... plotting together to steal my position as Chief. Better to keep him busy with a woman.”
“What?” Liu Zhi was taken aback. Something... something? Could it be there were hidden secrets within Fatty’s team that outsiders didn’t know about?
Perhaps Fatty was simply too weak, while Zhan Lian and Luo Feifan were exceptionally strong. That would mean Fatty was walking on eggshells in his own Hexi team.
If so, then pairing her sister with Luo Feifan was the right move. Should Luo Feifan rise to leadership one day, her sister’s position would place their family at the very core of the team.
With each harboring their own agenda, Liu Zhi and Fatty quickly reached a consensus: Fatty would create the opportunity, and Liu Zhi would bring her younger sister over to meet him.
Meanwhile, word spread at the grassroots level about Hexi’s sale of firewood and charcoal. Even as the snowstorm reached its peak, Fatty, apparently unsatisfied with his current notoriety, built a dedicated charcoal kiln in the villa’s open square and sold charcoal at a premium.
He looked every bit the capable leader.
He posted clear prices for firewood, briquettes, and charcoal, and even went a step further—sending people out to beg.
Lately, with folks from Hedong coming daily to buy charcoal, Fatty’s men would follow them around, bowls in hand, pitifully begging for crystal nuclei. With the charcoal prices already sky-high, only the wealthy could afford it, making the scene even more bewildering.
Soon, people in Hedong couldn’t figure out whether Fatty’s team was strong… or just plain bizarre.
