Chapter 503: Busier than a Market
The soldier thought about turning around, but since Tang Siluo said nothing and there were no strange sounds, he stayed by the truck.
When he finally looked, he saw Lei Jiang holding her in the back. She seemed awake, whispering something to him.
Tang Siluo, dizzy, couldn’t tell if it was Lei Jiang or her brother Feifan speaking in her ear. Her thoughts blurred, and she slumped over.
Lei Jiang had only meant to give her more water. But now, with her soft body in his arms, his mind wandered. He was just an ordinary man, with ordinary needs.
Ever since following Tang Jianjun to Xiangcheng, he hadn’t so much as touched a woman’s hand. Now, fleeing with Tang Siluo and no other women in his company, desire burned in him.
Now, his body was as hard as stone. But afraid the soldiers weren’t fully under his control—and that if he truly did anything to Tang Siluo, she might come after him once she recovered—he settled for sliding his hand quietly inside her clothes to “relieve the pressure” for now…
The night passed slowly.
Elsewhere, An Ran sat up abruptly in bed. Doll between her and Zhan Lian rolled over, mumbling in her sleep. An Ran covered her ears, her mind in chaos.
“What’s wrong?” Zhan Lian sat up too. He’d already noticed her unease.
Clutching her head, An Ran frowned. ““There’s too much information in my head… all jumbled. I can’t tell what’s being said.”
It was as if, overnight, her ability level had jumped several ranks. The plant world, once dim and closed to her, now burst into color and sound.
She knew the mutant plants in Xiangcheng were still growing everywhere—some large, some small, of varying strength—despite the Flesh Flower’s absence. Before, they had all seemed silent. Now, they were noisy.
Good vines and bad vines bickered like rival merchants, fighting over territory. But neither side was united, each arguing endlessly.
It was even livelier than a marketplace!
She realized she could now connect with the bad plants too. Both good and bad feared her. The good ones obeyed her commands not to harm humans.
The bad ones didn’t care—they’d do whatever they pleased, sending her bits of emotion when it suited them and ignoring her otherwise.
