Chapter 432: It's Too Late
Chapter 432: It's Too Late
Zhao Ru’s concentration wavers, and the water zombie under her control begins to ripple. She turns her head and glares at An Ran, who’s chattering beside her and breaking her focus.
Couldn’t she wait until later to talk? Why now, in the middle of a crisis? Did An Ran know something?
An Ran simply shrugs. Seeing that Zhao Ru truly can’t spare the energy to respond, she loses interest and steps aside to watch quietly.
She can’t help but notice how slow Zhao Ru is—after all this time, she’s only managed to move the water zombie a few steps. At this rate, she’ll be lucky to reach the side door before nightfall.
An Ran yawns, abandons Zhao Ru without hesitation, and turns her attention back to Doll.
Outside the mall, the copper-skinned zombies keep howling, while mutant mice continue their rampage. The copper-skinned zombies devour both people and mutant mice. Inside the mall, the only sound is Doll softly humming as she rolls over.
Zhao Ru works hard.
But others feel like there’s nothing they can do.
That “other” is An Ran.
Meanwhile, the group that left—including Wang Wei—laugh and sing as they head toward the heart of Xiangcheng, once the city’s most prosperous area before the apocalypse.
“Ah Wei, stop, stop!”
Xu Lier, sitting in the passenger seat, happily pats Wang Wei’s arm as she gazes at the LV store under the moonlight. Her eyes sparkle with joy.
“Wow~~ Ah Wei, look! It’s LV, it’s LV!”
“Woman, it’s the end of the world now.”
Wang Wei parks the car in front of the LV store, turning to look at Xu Lier with a doting expression. He loves seeing that exaggerated look of surprise on her face—it makes her seem so cute.
“So what if it’s the end of the world? Even in the apocalypse, women’s love for luxury never changes.”
As soon as the car stops, Xu Lier opens the door and runs straight toward the LV storefront.
Wang Wei quickly gets out, grabs her arm, and lowers his voice. “Don’t you see where we are? Be careful—it might be dangerous.”
“What are you afraid of? If there’s danger, you’ll protect me.”
Her smile is enchanting.
Shaking off his hand, Xu Lier strides confidently toward her beloved LV store. Hers. The whole store is hers.
Behind them, the other car pulls up. The three Strength-Type Ability Users who defected from Liang Ziyu’s team step out, grinning.
“Damn, working under Zhan Lian was like being free labor. Killing this, killing that, stuck outside Xiangcheng all day. What idiots. This place is way safer—I haven’t seen a single zombie.”
“Exactly. I bet An Ran just wanted crystal cores. That’s why she made us work like dogs for free.”
The third Strength-Type Ability User scoffs and yells toward the northern part of Xiangcheng, “An Ran, you stinkin’ bit—”
Before he can finish the insult, a green “snake” suddenly slithers up from his ankle. He looks down in confusion, trying to see what it is—but before he can react, the snake has already wriggled up into his pant leg.
His two companions turn to look at him, confused by his sudden silence. One reaches out and gives him a push—only to watch, horrified, as a blood-red lotus blooms from the man’s open mouth.
Screams of terror erupt all around them.
But it’s too late.
