Chapter 331: The Sooner, the Better
Chapter 331: The Sooner, the Better
Yun Tao drives the truck while An Ran takes care of Little Mint and Doll. An Ran drives the SUV that had originally entered Tiesi Village. Doll is safely strapped into Doll seat in the back, and Little Mint sits next to Doll. She is in low spirits, but her responsibility is to help care for Doll.
Hengheng originally wants to sit with Little Mint, but Yun Tao grabs him and places him in the truck. They follow Zhan Lian’s team out of Tiesi Village.
After Yun Tao and An Ran make one final check of the Gaoping dormitory and confirm that nothing is missing, they get into their respective vehicles.
Zhan Lian’s team waits on the road outside the Gaoping dormitory. Leading the convoy, Zhan Lian drives a van at the front, opens the iron gate, and allows Yun Tao’s truck and An Ran’s SUV to pass through.
His convoy consists of just ten vehicles, with only two people in each vehicle. In total, about twenty people from the four districts of Tiesi Village are able to obey Tang Jianjun’s call and go to the county to find supplies.
Tiesi Village, a small settlement, has accommodated tens of thousands of survivors. These survivors are divided into four districts based on the terrain, with only twenty people per district being sent out to search for supplies. It is a pitifully small number.
An Ran can’t help but sigh. Among the tens of thousands of survivors, Tang Jianjun can control so few. The rest are either survivor teams, stragglers, or people like orphans, widows, the elderly, the sick, and the disabled. In times of crisis, everyone is scattered and unable to come together for any coordinated action.
Moreover, in such a disorganized and undisciplined place, a riot could break out at any time. People like Zhan Lian and Yun Tao, who have a little military power, are unwilling to maintain order for Tiesi Village for their own reasons.
This village lacks a lot of essential things—human unity, military strength, and shared beliefs. Can it really survive in the apocalypse?
It is better to leave early.
An Ran is at the end of the convoy, with Yun Tao’s truck following behind her. The convoy drives directly from the exit of District 4 to the national highway, heading toward the county.
The security check when entering Tiesi Village was very strict, but when leaving, the guards are much more lenient.
Tiesi Village is located in the southernmost part of Hubei Province. It is a small village, and the county town is about a half-hour drive away. Since it is in the countryside, there aren’t many zombies, but the supplies around Tiesi Village have long been looted by other survivors.
So, entering the county to loot fresh supplies is still a significant challenge.
However, when they leave Tiesi Village, there are four teams in total. The other three teams have already cleared the way ahead. Zhan Lian’s team is the last to move. The zombies have already been dealt with by the three teams in front, and Zhan Lian’s group takes the national highway straight into the city. The road is smooth, and after entering the county, they find that there are few zombies left. Most have been locked up in homes. They stop at a gas station to refuel.
The convoy consists of ten cars, with two ability users in each vehicle. They surround the gas station, forming a protective circle, much like Green Dragon tattooed man did when getting oil at a gas station.
An Ran’s and Yun Tao’s cars aren’t part of the main formation, so they park off to the side. An Ran moves her car to a corner near the restroom.
