After a while, Zhan Lian returns in a hurry, frowning, clearly having figured things out. He says to Yun Tao, “Take Dollren into the car and follow me.”
Then, without further explanation, Zhan Lian turns around and gets into the driver’s seat.
Yun Tao doesn’t waste any time. Holding Hengheng, he opens the back door and gets in.
Zhan Lian drives straight from District 1 to District 4.
The plan has changed. The water ability user in District 2 has been taken, and a wood ability user has been discovered in District 1. Tang Jianjun responds by tightening control over all water and wood ability users—under the guise of protection, he completely cuts off their contact with their families.
There may be affection among people, but the great path is emotionless!
And for An Ran, this is definitely not good news.
The atmosphere in the car is heavy. Doll, like a little empress, wakes up and, upon realizing she’s once again being jostled in a moving car, is just about to cry when the vehicle stops—they have arrived.
In the back seat, Hengheng sits next to Little Mint, his head tilted as he keeps looking at her. He’s happy to see Little Mint again, but he can’t understand why she keeps sleeping. She hasn’t been like this before.
Back at the motel, when Hengheng can’t sleep all night because he misses his mother, it’s Little Mint who hugs him and stays up with him. What’s wrong with her now?
Sitting in the front passenger seat, An Ran doesn’t know what to think either. Originally, she just plans to meet Yun Tao for a moment and then come back. But now, it has turned into bringing both Yun Tao and Hengheng back with her.
She can’t figure out what Zhan Lian is thinking. But the current situation is not in her favor—troubles inside and out. She has no way of knowing what’s going on in Zhan Lian’s mind.
At that moment, Zhan Lian has already asked Yun Tao to step out of the car. The two men move to the far end of the highland, near a vehicle shaded by greenery, to talk privately.
An Ran has no choice but to get out of the car. First, she carries Doll—who is getting increasingly restless in the safety seat—out of the car, then wakes Little Mint, asking her to chat with Hengheng for a while. After that, An Ran goes to the dormitory to find mosquito repellent for Doll.
The weather is hot and mosquitoes are everywhere. While they are on the road to Tiesi Village, Doll stays inside the air-conditioned car with the space sealed off. An Ran also wraps green radish around Doll, keeping the mosquitoes away. But now that they’re settled, the bugs have started to appear.
Though she still has the green radish, it isn’t entirely reliable. Spraying mosquito repellent is a safer solution.
On the way to Tiesi Village, An Ran gathers some and puts it in her mommy bag. She takes the bag from the car and places it next to Doll’s crib. After putting Doll on the bed, she begins rummaging through the bag.
Just then, Yun Tao walks in.
“Eh?!”
An Ran tilts her head and glances behind him but doesn’t see any sign of Zhan Lian. She finds it a bit strange. Isn’t Zhan Lian always on guard against her and Yun Tao? Why would he let Yun Tao come into her room without following in to argue?
