Chapter 312: Zhao Qianrong
Chapter 312: Zhao Qianrong
"I don’t recommend performing surgery here."
Doctor Zhao frowns, her expression serious. Perhaps all doctors speak in such ambiguous terms, but what she means is simply to convey the truth about Little Mint's condition. If An Ran insists on proceeding with surgery, she needs to understand the risks involved. Otherwise, if something goes wrong, and An Ran later pressures Zhan Lian, the hospital can’t bear the responsibility.
"If it’s a fetus, surgery might not be necessary. After all, you still have plenty of time to prepare for the delivery. But if it’s a cyst and there’s a clear blood flow signal, I suggest removing it as soon as possible. After all, this cyst has already grown quite large."
"Oh."
An Ran’s mind is foggy. She nods, clutching the test results tightly in her hand, unsure how to respond to Dr. Zhao.
"Go back and discuss it with the captain. If you decide to proceed with surgery, this clinic won’t be suitable. You’ll need to go to a larger hospital with more professional doctors."
Doctor Zhao sighs as she sees An Ran’s confusion. As a professional, before the world ended, she would have advised the family to go ahead with the surgery.
If it were a pregnancy, the 13-year-old girl should have the embryo removed immediately. After all, her body isn’t fully developed, and carrying a child is far from ideal.
If it were a cyst, and there were signs of blood flow, it needs to be removed quickly, as it could be malignant. Even if it isn’t cancerous, it could still affect the girl’s future reproductive health.
But back then, the hospitals were better equipped, the doctors were more skilled, and there were enough medications to handle any crisis that might arise during an operation.
Now, however, this is a small hospital with broken equipment. There’s only one highly skilled obstetrician—Dr. Zhao herself. The rest of the staff are either from other departments or temporary nurses with little experience.
Zhao Qianrong, now 70 years old, had been brought in by Tang Jianjun to provide consultations. If she has to perform surgery, she fears her hands might shake.
An Ran holds Doll in one arm and the examination results in the other. She isn’t in the mood to listen to Dr. Zhao’s further explanations. She simply says a few words to the doctor, then turns and leaves, taking Little Mint with her.
The entire way down, neither of them speaks. Little Mint doesn’t ask any questions. They reach the first floor of the hospital just as they encounter Tang Siluo and a few women coming up.
"Sister-in-law," Tang Siluo greets, wearing a military uniform—short-sleeved shirt and long pants—and her long hair tied up in a bun. She looks up at An Ran in surprise. "Sister-in-law, are you here to see Doctor Zhao?"
"Yeah." An Ran nods with a stern face, taking Little Mint to the side to make room for Tang Siluo to pass.
At this moment, An Ran doesn’t have the energy or the inclination to deal with Tang Siluo. She hopes the woman won’t make things more complicated. If at all possible, it would be best if no one else appears and causes any more trouble right now.
