Chapter 200: Absolutely Unrealistic
Chapter 200: Absolutely Unrealistic
Anran knows she can’t stay trapped in this cramped 10-to-20-square-meter space with two children forever.
She has already tried expanding her ability’s range, but three square meters seems to be her limit. Beyond that, she can barely control the lilies—at best, they sprout, but any further and they simply won’t grow at all.
Strengthening her ability isn’t something she can achieve just by willing it to happen. She has to absorb crystal cores again and again, continuously using her powers to gradually strengthen them.
There is no shortcut.
It feels as if some invisible force restricts her flowers. The moment they cross a certain boundary, their growth slows dramatically, their vitality fading. Within a short time, the delicate blossoms wither, easily trampled by zombies.
But inside her safety zone, the lilies are relentless. The closer the zombies come to Anran, the fiercer the lilies become—devouring the undead before they can even reach her.
Once she completely seals off the clothing store’s entrance, Anran finally relaxes. She places Doll in a sling on her back and climbs up the flower wall to take in the view outside.
If she doesn’t change Doll’s diaper soon, Doll will get a rash. In fact, Doll’s bottom has already been slightly red for a while, which is why Anran is diligent about frequent diaper changes—she swaps them out immediately after each wetting.
Even so, over the past few days, Doll’s rash has worsened. Her bottom is now as red as a monkey’s, and today, she is particularly fussy. Every time she pees, she cries non-stop, impossible to soothe—most likely because it hurts.
Anran climbs the flower wall to scout for baby stores or children's clothing shops on the first floor. If she can’t find more diapers, at least she can grab some pants and change them frequently to keep Doll dry.
But as she looks out, her heart sinks once again.
From her vantage point, she can see the entire first-floor hall of the mall, and it is completely packed with zombies. They are crammed together, forming two massive clusters—one surrounding Anran’s flower wall and the other enclosing the car showroom.
Somewhere in that sea of undead, a zombie has likely developed an enhanced sense of smell. Even though Yun Tao, Liu Yuan, and Hengheng remain silent in the showroom, the zombies have already locked onto their location—detecting them through the faintest traces of human scent or blood.
And Anran has no doubt that this ability will only grow stronger.
At first, these scent-sensitive zombies had been confused by the overwhelming fragrance of her flowers, unable to distinguish between the floral aroma and the scent of human flesh.
But as time passes, they begin to adapt.
Soon, they will be able to separate the scent of flowers from that of living humans with ease.
Looking toward the mall’s No. 1 entrance and the underground escalator leading to the supermarket, Anran sees the source of the problem—these two openings are the main entry points for the zombies flooding the first floor.
If those entrances aren’t sealed, the zombie horde inside the mall will only continue to grow.
But the entrances are far from where she is. With her ability’s three-meter range, it is completely unrealistic for her to reach and block them.
However, there is one bit of good news—right next to the clothing store is a children’s clothing shop.
Anran might not be able to deal with the zombies in the hall, but she can at least find some extra diaper for her daughter.
