First Revenge
By the time the two brothers returned home and finished tidying up, the sun had already set, and in the darkened house, Kang Dohyun was preparing a special meal for dinner.
Let's have a proper meal today, for a change.
He turned on the gas burner, boiled water to heat up instant rice, and began cooking kimchi stew.
Throw everything in.
Since it was the last batch of kimchi, he added canned ham and even tuna, simmering it all properly with seasonings.
Bubbling away.
While the stew simmered for a while, Kang Dohun also finished washing up and came out of the bathroom.
“Wow, that smells good?”
“Let’s eat quickly.”
And so the two brothers began eating their dinner hastily.
The stew, which they hadn’t had in a while, was delicious.
“Wow, hyung, you made a good stew? I thought you couldn’t cook.”
“Did you forget I’m a regressor? I learned to cook back then too.”
“Ah...”
Thinking of how much effort his brother had put into this meal, the younger brother ate with gratitude.
“Hyung, what do we do now? Go straight to Dongwoo’s place?”
“No.”
The original plan had been to return to the uninhabited island base first and then resume operations on the mainland, but...
“We’re stronger than we thought, so I think we can handle another task I had planned before we go.”
As he ate, Kang Dohyun explained his plan to his younger brother, who listened while the evening passed.
Next day
The brothers woke up around sunrise.
“Dohun, help me out.”
“Okay.”
Among the items he had bought in advance and stored at home were some special ones. As they packed them into large bags, Kang Dohun, worried, asked his brother,
“Hyung, are you sure about the revenge? I heard there are a lot of people there.”
“It’s fine. They’re still just a bunch of nobodies.”
Though his younger brother was worried, the older brother was confident.
“Just trust me and help out. If you help, it’ll be possible.”
“Got it.”
And so the two prepared by packing their gear.
Suwon was a uniquely distinctive city in the apocalypse era. With a population exceeding one million, it was a city where many young people resided due to the presence of several universities and major corporations. As a result, in the early days, many people fought against zombies, and various factions emerged. Later, with zombies pouring down from Seoul, survivors found themselves fighting not only zombies but also other humans—a hellish struggle for survival. That was Suwon. In this Suwon, five major groups eventually formed. Among them was the Terminal Group, which used the Suwon Bus Terminal as its base and even occupied the department store and mart nearby. Formed by surviving students from nearby middle and high schools along with young residents, it was a group with considerable numbers and high combat strength. Especially since it was close to the apartment where Kang Dohyun lived, it was a group he had been heavily involved with in Suwon before his regression... This Terminal Group was the one that had separated Kang Dohyun and Kang Dohun before his regression. They were his enemies.
Kang Dohyun and Kang Dohun packed their gear and set off. Their destination was an apartment across the street from the bus terminal. Since Kang Dohyun had already cleared out the apartment beforehand, the two brothers arrived and headed straight for the rooftop.
“Huh, hyung, what’s this?”
When they reached the rooftop, there was a small tent and a telescope set up.
“I set that up.”
“Oh?”
It was the tent and telescope he had set up in advance while clearing the apartment, just in case.
The two brothers set down their gear on the rooftop. While Kang Dohun organized the supplies, Kang Dohyun began examining the bus terminal through the telescope.
Though only a month had passed since the apocalypse began, the bus terminal was already occupied by people.
As expected, they’re fast.
There must have been many zombies in the bus terminal. Occupying such a massive building wasn’t an easy feat, yet they’d done it in a short time. Looking at the piles of corpses stacked near the terminal, one could imagine the ferocity of the battle.
But they’ve only just taken it over.
Though they had occupied the terminal, their defense system wasn’t properly established. The doors were barricaded, but countless windows remained unsealed. As he observed the terminal, he could also make out some of the people inside.
Those brats are already here.
The Terminal Group’s characteristic was its large number of teenagers. Fearless youths fought aggressively, allowing them to expand quickly. Among them, the core members were delinquent teens from the youth shelter across from the terminal. They were incredibly brash, and once the apocalypse made them stronger, they acted as if they were nobility.
If those guys keep growing stronger by clearing the department store and mart from the terminal...
...another group of brash brats will rise to dominate Suwon, just like before my regression.
I’ll crush them no matter what.
Looking at the bus terminal, his resolve for revenge grew even stronger.
Kang Dohyun took a deep breath and slightly adjusted the telescope’s focus.
Next to the terminal were a department store and a large mart, and here...
This place is packed with zombies.
Survivors had already abandoned the department store and mart; only those turned into zombies remained inside. But the number...
Even conservatively, there must be over a thousand.
There were so many zombies that even with his sense of presence, he couldn’t get an exact count.
Hunting that many zombies is what made the Terminal Group strong.
According to the predetermined future, all those zombies would become the Terminal Group’s experience points. They would lure the zombies out little by little, clear them all, and then... monopolize all the various food supplies and materials in the department store and mart. Using those resources and their own military strength... they would pressure and threaten nearby people to move in the direction they wanted.
Thanks to that, I got separated from my brother.
Though he planned to leave Suwon this time, he had no intention of leaving the Terminal Group, which harmed others, unchecked.
And the next reconnaissance spot...
Good.
The gas station in the center of the terminal’s parking lot—there weren’t many zombies here either, suggesting the Terminal Group had already cleared it.
Do they not yet realize the importance of a gas station? Or maybe there’s no one who knows how to use a generator.
They had cleared it, but weren’t specifically occupying the gas station.
I’ll make good use of it.
And so he completed his check of the gas station.
After finishing his reconnaissance, Kang Dohyun spoke to his younger brother.
“Hey, can you operate a drone?”
“Of course.”
One of his younger brother’s hobbies was drones.
“There’s a box inside the tent. Open it.”
Following his brother’s words, Kang Dohun went into the tent and opened the wooden box. When he did...
“Wow! This is an incredibly expensive model.”
It was a large drone—one with performance worth nearly 100 million won. While his younger brother examined the drone with excitement, the older brother spoke seriously.
“Once the operation starts, I’ll be riding the drone around.”
“What?? Are you crazy?”
No matter how large the drone was, having a person ride on top was extremely dangerous.
“It’s fine. That model can carry up to 100kg.”
“There’s no safety equipment at all. A normal person couldn’t hold on up there!”
At that, Kang Dohyun replied with a smile.
“Dohun, we’re no longer ordinary people. You feel it too, right?”
As levels increased, a person’s physical abilities also rose incrementally. And since achievements had a significant impact, Kang Dohyun’s current reflexes had surpassed even the best in humanity.
Though worried by his brother’s words, Kang Dohun decided to do a test run first.
Kang Dohyun climbed onto the drone, and Kang Dohun started it up, saying,
Vroom!!!
Along with the noise, the drone’s blades began to spin.
“Hyung, be careful. We’ll just go up a little and test it out.”
“Don’t worry.”
The drone slowly ascended. Fortunately, Kang Dohyun maintained perfect balance on the moving drone.
“Phew...”
As Kang Dohun let out a sigh of relief,
“Try moving a bit faster.”
Following his brother’s instruction, Kang Dohun increased the speed slightly, but he still remained stable on the drone.
“Faster!”
And so the two brothers conducted test runs with the drone for a while. When the drone landed back on the rooftop, Kang Dohyun got off.
“Hyung, you need to be careful.”
“Got it. You’ll move according to the signals I give you.”
After finishing the drone test, the two brothers had a long conversation while looking at the surrounding map.
Next morning
Kang Dohyun, having completed various preparations for this operation, climbed onto the drone.
“Dohun, I’m counting on you to drive.”
Though Kang Dohyun had planned and prepared everything for this operation, Kang Dohun’s role in operating the drone during execution was also quite significant.
“Don’t worry about my driving, hyung... Just please keep your balance! If you fall, you’ll just die.”
After giving a thumbs-up to his worried younger brother,
Vroom!!!
Kang Dohyun began flying toward the Suwon Bus Terminal on the drone.
