The Saintess of the Sun Cult
“Praise the sun! Wait… no, how long until the meteorite hits the ground?”
The Guardian of All Things says there are about 11 hours left.
Eleven hours, huh… Does that mean one hour per floor, and two hours for the boss floor?
More importantly, they really want me to stop a meteorite? Me?
As I stood there staring blankly at the sky, a roar erupted.
“Here is the sacrifice!”
“The gods are enraged! Offer the sacrifice!!!”
“Save us!!!”
I turned toward the source of the shouting to see figures draped in black robes pointing fingers at me.
“O, omnipotent evil god!”
“Bring salvation to the world!”
“Offer the sacrifice!”
Various colors of light erupted from the staves in their hands, and flames came flying toward me!? I squeezed my eyes shut, bracing for the impact, but when nothing happened, I opened them to see a pure white barrier surrounding me.
Special Ability: Magic Resistance activated.
We stared at each other in bewilderment, and I muttered under my breath.
“…Help me.”
Fate's Timeline - Thousand Memories activated.
Transcendent: 'Saintess of the Sun Cult' appears.
With an intense burst of sunlight, the entity appeared and extended one hand, and the black mages were instantly engulfed in flames, reduced to ash.
“Brother, it has been a long time.”
The woman in the nun’s habit approached with a bright smile, but honestly, she was the scariest Transcendent I’d met so far.
That’s because this character… is a ‘cult fanatic’ archetype.
“It’s been a while, Sister.”
“You haven’t been coming to morning prayers lately. Is there something keeping you busy?”
“Ahaha… I’ve been busy, so I’ve been praying at home.”
“I see. But it’s better to pray together with everyone, isn’t it?”
She nodded with a smile, but I couldn’t let myself be fooled.
She was a psycho character who burned anyone she deemed a heretic at the stake.
“More importantly, this world doesn’t seem to feel the protection of the Sun God.”
Even after reaching the level of a Transcendent, her faith hadn’t wavered; if anything, she was more obsessed with the Sun God than ever, spreading her existence throughout the world.
To put it nicely, she was a devoted evangelist spreading the truth of the Sun God with absolute faith.
To put it bluntly, she was a crazy fanatic forcing her beliefs on others…
“Shall we go, then?”
“Where…?”
“Where else? We must go and purify the heretics.”
She reached out her hand to me with a bright smile.
As I took her hand, my vision shifted in an instant, and I found myself high up in the sky.
“Look at the ground. There are so many ugly beings who believe in false gods.”
I looked where she pointed and saw beings who looked like black mages performing a ‘ritual.’ It was too gruesome to watch.
“What they need is ‘purification.’”
Burning people with fire isn’t purification…
“If only there had been a guide to lead them on the right path, they wouldn’t have fallen into the path of heresy. It’s a shame.”
…You burn them if they don’t walk that path, though.
“However, the Sun God is merciful and compassionate, so He will embrace them all.”
As she willed it, flames flickered around her and flew toward the black mages.
“Let us pray together.”
The ground was burning, but she didn’t care, praying fervently.
The Guardian of All Things says they have never seen such a being in their life.
The Helmsman of the Twelve Stars whispers that there are many strange things lately.
“Hmm…”
She tilted her head and stared at the messages. W-wait, can she see them?
Well, she’d seen the ‘Planet Destroyer’ too, so it made sense that another Transcendent could see them.
“Since they are beings who travel with you, Brother, I will turn a blind eye.”
The Guardian of All Things chuckles and tells her to open her eyes when she speaks.
She was what people called a ‘slit-eyed’ character, so she looked like her eyes were closed, but in reality, they were open.
That’s right, her eyes were just small.
“Purification is…”
“Sister! L-look, there are surviving heretics over there!!”
“Oh my, is that so?”
I diverted her attention and quickly looked into the void, communicating with my lips.
I told them not to provoke her.
The Guardian of All Things asks how they are supposed to resist something this fun.
“If you keep doing that, I won’t eat chicken anymore!”
The Guardian of All Things is startled and covers their mouth with their hand.
…To think the day would come when I’d threaten a Transcendent with chicken.
How is this any different from a hamster protesting by refusing to eat sunflower seeds?
When she had burned half the ground, a message appeared.
Congratulations! You have completed the 11th-floor quest!
Achievement Unlocked: You're supposed to save the world, so why are you burning it?
11th-floor new record achieved!
Would you like to register for the Hall of Fame? Yes / NO
“Yes.”
You have been registered in the Hall of Fame.
Hall of Fame rewards are being issued.
Congratulations! You have acquired Special Ability: Crisis Escape!
[Crisis Escape]
Grade: Undetermined
Effect: When life is in danger, teleport to a random location.
Crisis Escape Number One!
But if the difficulty varies by person, isn’t the Hall of Fame unfair?
I tilted my head and checked the 11th-floor Hall of Fame records.
[11th-floor Hall of Fame]
1st: Lee Suhyun (Private)
2nd: Han Yerin
3rd: Kim Haneul
“Time display.”
11th-floor Rank 1 'Salvation Rate': 99%
11th-floor Rank 2 'Salvation Rate': 75%
11th-floor Rank 3 'Salvation Rate': 66%
Salvation Rate…? What is that?
“What is the Salvation Rate?”
The Guardian of All Things is covering their mouth.
“…You can speak now.”
The Guardian of All Things says the Salvation Rate is the probability of saving the world.
The probability of saving the world depending on the climber… so the ranking is determined by the Salvation Rate?
Why did they make it so complicated?
But I’m not saving the world, I’m burning it?
As I frowned at the system full of questions, my vision shifted again, and I returned to the ground.
“Thanks to you, Brother, we were able to wipe out the heretics.”
“Ahaha… I’m glad I could be of help to you, Sister.”
“Brother, that is the very essence of our Sun Cult…”
Just as the Saintess was continuing her praise of the Sun God, white flames enveloped her.
“Oh my, it seems the God is looking for me. I shall take my leave.”
“Go safely.”
With a bright smile, she vanished completely, and only then did I let out a sigh of relief.
“Phew, she’s finally gone.”
The Guardian of All Things strongly insists that I never summon that crazy woman again.
The Helmsman of the Twelve Stars scolds them, saying that vulgar language is bad for our Suhyun’s emotional health.
The Guardian of All Things laughs sheepishly and apologizes.
Am I a child or something…
I searched for posts to see if there was any information that could help with the scenarios from the 11th to the 20th floors, but I couldn’t find any.
No, the scenarios themselves were different to begin with.
[11th-floor scenario is crazy?]
They call me a hero and tell me to defeat the resurrected Demon King, is this right?
If it’s a Demon King, that’s actually lucky. I’m an evil god.
(OP) My condolences.
You bastard, I’m still alive.
Evil god is easy if you just stop the resurrection ritual. I was invaded from the heavens to the ground.
Isn’t that just a matter of offering the sacrifice properly?
I scrolled through the different scenarios for each climber and left a post of my own.
[Hey guys, they’re telling me to stop a meteorite, is this right?]
A huge meteorite is falling from the sky, any good methods?
Stop what?
You’re supposed to stop a meteorite?
How do you do that?
You’re a newbie on the 11th floor, how are you supposed to stop a meteorite?
My condolences.
My condolences.
My condolences.
My post climbed to the ‘Best’ section in an instant and was registered as a real-time best post—is that a good thing?
Just as the comments were pouring in like crazy, I saw one that caught my eye.
…A dinosaur?
