Chapter Title: Ogre Subjugation Battle
-------------------------------------
17th floor, Mountain area.
Inside the shelter near the transfer stone.
Jeong Yoo-shin faced off against the Mountain Ogre.
The ogre's gaze rested on the broken greatsword.
"Kuk!"
A laugh of ridicule burst out from the ogre's mouth.
Jeong Yoo-shin frowned.
'This bastard.'
He had known from the way it had kept the explorers barely alive while chewing on them…
This was a thing that knew what malice was.
'A human-like ogre.'
To even know how to laugh at a broken greatsword…
Jeong Yoo-shin decided then…
A quick battle.
He wouldn’t spare his magic in this fight.
He extended his hand.
[Eternal Ark]
A huge golden coffin appeared and plunged into the ground.
Thud!!!
The treasure of the elves.
The golden coffin, a totem inventory that buffed stamina, strength, endurance, magic, and recovery of surrounding allies.
The vast aura emanating from the coffin brightly illuminated the hollow, which had been submerged in blood and darkness.
"Guwo?"
The ogre, flustered by the dazzling light, covered its eyes with the hand holding the wooden club.
Now!
[Sacred Weapon]
[Bestow Trait]
[Gale]
He swung the golden single-edged sword with one hand. The acceleration ability granted by the 'Gale' trait flashed.
In a fleeting moment, his vision narrowed, and the ogre's form grew larger rapidly.
'The ogre's weakness is its joints.'
He had learned that while dismantling a Twin-head Ogre at the monster dismantler shop.
The weakness of ogre-type monsters was their joints.
Director Aldein had taught him that.
'You see, the cartilage between the kneecaps doesn't regenerate.'
Was arthritis a disease that not even monsters could avoid?
The problem was that he had to stab the sword precisely between the kneecaps.
This was also not a problem for Jeong Yoo-shin.
[Sacred Weapon]
[Bestow Trait]
[Frost Stalker]
He threw the single-edged sword into the air, created a golden Zweihänder, and held it with one hand.
To reduce its center of gravity, he grabbed the ricasso and thrust it as it was.
The target was the right shin.
Puuuuuk!!!
The over 2-meter-long blade grazed the shin bone and dug in.
"Guooooook!!!"
As the effect of the Frost Stalker bestowed on the Zweihänder, that is, the magic that sealed the opponent's movements, was activated, the ogre's body froze on the spot.
At that moment…
An arrow flew from the direction of the cave entrance.
Paaaaaaaaaa!!!
Baaaaaaam!!!
The arrow precisely pierced the ogre's left eyeball.
The ogre's head snapped up, and it lost its balance and staggered back.
Thud, thud, thud!!!
The Iron Golem charged forward and grabbed the ogre.
Good.
[Sacred Weapon]
[Bestow Trait]
[Half-Ogre Gauntlets]
A golden radiance shone on Jeong Yoo-shin’s two hands.
He grabbed the broken black iron greatsword and ran.
The target was the knee joint.
"Hup!!!"
He pulled the greatsword back behind his head and jumped high.
He flew in an arc, and when the ogre's knee was close…
He brought the greatsword down in time.
Kra-jeeeek!!!
The black iron greatsword, combined with Jeong Yoo-shin's weight, struck the ogre's kneecap.
"Kuweoooooo!!!"
The ogre screamed.
Jeong Yoo-shin clicked his tongue.
He had heard the sound of bone breaking, but it wasn't enough yet.
'It's pretty tough.'
He landed on the ground, twisted his waist with all his might, and swung the greatsword horizontally.
Kra-jeeeek!!!
This time, he clearly felt the impact.
The delayed cross-slash precisely wedged itself between the ogre's knee joint and severed the cartilage.
"Guwoooooooo!!!"
The ogre screamed once more and knelt on one knee.
The Iron Golem didn't miss the opening and charged from the side.
But it was hit by the club that the ogre swung hysterically and flew away, hitting the wall.
Even with an arrow in its eye and one knee out, it was still showing enormous power.
It wasn't called an intermediate-rank party crusher for nothing.
Jeong Yoo-shin jumped again.
He intended to at least cut off its wrist.
At that moment…
The ogre suddenly held out the female mage it was holding.
Jeong Yoo-shin's eyes widened for a moment and then settled.
What the…
How absurd.
To sheathe his sword for an explorer he had never met before?
'I'm not that warm of a person.'
He swung the greatsword toward the female mage.
The half-closed eyes of the female mage widened.
The greatsword was coming down at a high speed.
Tsuaaaaaaaak!!!
Whether by chance or intention, even Jeong Yoo-shin himself didn't know, but the greatsword only cut off the ogre's thumb and didn't touch a single hair on the mage.
"Kuweooooooook!!!"
With the ogre's roar, the female mage's body fell to the ground.
Then she was held in a firm embrace.
The female mage's eyes widened as she looked at the man who had swung a greatsword at her just a moment ago.
"Uah...?"
She was alive?
Unbelievable. She had thought that she would surely be cut along with the ogre's hand.
Just as a wave of emotion was about to wash over the female mage…
Jeong Yoo-shin threw her away.
"Eh...?"
The mage flew through the air.
And then she was held in someone else's arms again.
A wolf beast-person woman with red hair was holding her.
The mage was about to open her mouth, but the wolf beast-person silently placed her next to the golden coffin and ran again.
"W-What?"
The female mage, lying next to the golden coffin, muttered in a dazed voice.
"Kuuuaaaaaaak!!!"
The ogre, its thumb severed, roared and brought down its club.
Kra-boooooom!!!
Kra-boooooom!!!
A power that could shake the ground.
Jeong Yoo-shin ran while dodging the club without a moment to breathe.
His body was moving ceaselessly, but his eyes were deeply sunken.
The eyes of the fallen explorers were fixed on Jeong Yoo-shin.
They couldn't look away.
A movement like that of a beast. He didn't look like a person at all. He looked more like a single, agile predator.
Anyone could see it. The tide of battle was already turning in favor of that party.
'Just a little more!'
Everyone cheered for the party with one heart. Because that was the only way they could live.
At that moment…
"Guwooooooo!!!"
The ogre suddenly turned its back and headed for the entrance of the cave.
It knelt and put its body into the cave passage.
"Shit!!!"
Jeong Yoo-shin spat out a curse and immediately followed.
He had never even imagined that the ogre would run.
Kenneth and Armin were still at the cave entrance.
"Haaaaaaa!!!"
"Armin!!!"
Immediately, Armin's scream and Kenneth's shout were heard from the other side of the cave.
Jeong Yoo-shin ran quickly, but the ogre desperately pushed its huge body through the passage.
A nimble movement, despite its injured body.
Jeong Yoo-shin gritted his teeth and caught up with the ogre.
Boom!!! Boom!!! Kuuuung!!!
The cave walls shook, and stone fragments fell from the ceiling.
When Jeong Yoo-shin barely broke through the passage and reached the cave entrance, he found Kenneth.
The elf was lying on the ground, his limbs grotesquely twisted.
"S...kar, qu...ickly. Armin."
Kenneth barely managed to speak, spitting out the blood that was welling up in his mouth.
Jeong Yoo-shin stood at the cave entrance and looked at the ogre's form.
The ogre was moving freely even under the 'hideous thing.'
Although it couldn't go far because it was already injured.
Armin was barely hanging on to the back of the ogre's neck.
Could he really face that thing without looking at the sky?
"Skar! You can't go!"
Karin, who had approached him at some point, grabbed Jeong Yoo-shin's shoulder strongly.
"Karin, take care of Kenneth here."
"Don't talk bullshit!"
Karin shouted, a rare occurrence.
"It's the leader's order. Karin, protect Kenneth."
"Kuk!!!"
Karin glared at Jeong Yoo-shin with a resentful expression.
Jeong Yoo-shin ran out of the cave.
He felt the 'gaze' from the sky.
While running toward the ogre…
Creeeak.
Screeeech.
His head throbbed, and the auditory hallucinations and illusions came back.
The memories of his past near-death experiences rose like bubbles one by one on the dark plateau and played like a movie.
'What a load of bullshit.'
Jeong Yoo-shin gritted his teeth, cut through all the memories, and caught up with the ogre.
"Armin!!!"
"..."
No answer.
In the end, he raised his head. Armin was barely hanging on.
And a part of the 'hideous thing' was visible beyond the ogre's head.
Immediately, a strong shock scrambled his brain.
Jeong Yoo-shin's form staggered for a moment.
A bizarre movement that couldn’t be expressed in words. As a price for seeing what shouldn’t be seen, tears of blood flowed from his eyes.
The ogre turned its back and looked down at Jeong Yoo-shin.
An opening.
It immediately swung its club.
Baaaaaaaaaak!!!
Jeong Yoo-shin, hit by the club, rolled across the plateau like trash. He rolled among the protruding rocks and stones before barely stopping.
"Kuhaaaaaak!!!"
His body writhed, and when he opened his mouth, blood gushed out.
"Skar!!!"
Karin left the cave and ran like a madwoman.
For a single purpose.
To save Skar.
However…
The ogre was one step faster.
It ran with a thudding sound, picked up Jeong Yoo-shin, and threw him at Karin.
Karin instinctively caught the flying Jeong Yoo-shin with her body.
Karin and Jeong Yoo-shin became one and rolled on the ground.
"Kuhaaaaaak!!!"
Blood flowed from Karin's mouth, as if her broken ribs had pierced her lungs, and flowed into Jeong Yoo-shin's helmet.
Karin, her eyes burning, struggled to get up again. Blood was flowing from her eyes, as she had already seen a part of the hideous thing.
The ogre finally smiled and approached them.
It raised its huge club high.
"Ah."
Karin quickly held Jeong Yoo-shin and lowered her body. She hoped that she would die before Skar.
Whoooooooosh!!!!!
The moment the club came down on the two of them, Karin squeezed her eyes shut.
'Sorry. If only I had been a little stronger.'
All sorts of regrets raged in her heart.
In a moment…
Jeong Yoo-shin twitched and raised his hand.
"..."
It was quiet.
'Strange.'
Karin, who had been waiting for death, opened her eyes and raised her head.
The ogre in front of her was trembling while holding its club. As if blocked by an invisible barrier.
Jeong Yoo-shin gently pushed Karin away and stood up.
"Skar...?"
Karin muttered while staring blankly at Jeong Yoo-shin.
Jeong Yoo-shin took off his broken helmet and put it on Karin's head.
"Ka...rin, you don't. Listen. At all. When we get back, it's butt spanking time."
"S...kar."
"Don't look at the sky. Close your eyes."
"..."
"I'll close mine too."
Jeong Yoo-shin closed his eyes and lowered his hand.
He had barely managed to block the attack using his [Telekinesis] imprint.
Because of the backlash from using his ability in an unfamiliar manner, blood gushed from his nose and ears.
He swept back his hair, not knowing whose blood it was wet with, and slung the broken greatsword over his shoulder.
The only way to overcome the law of the Mountain area.
Closing his eyes.
In fact, this was the only thing that came to his mind.
He couldn't think of any other way.
The ogre, which had quickly retreated, tilted its head and then rushed at him again.
Jeong Yoo-shin also ran.
Toward the sound.
Boom!!! Boom!!! Boom!!!
The sound of the ogre's footsteps.
The sound of something cutting through the air.
Jeong Yoo-shin sidestepped, dodged the club, and swung his greatsword.
Tsuaaaaaaaak!!!
Where did he cut?
He didn't know.
"Kueooooook!!!"
But he was satisfied to hear the ogre's scream.
Kra-boooom!!!
Kra-boooom!!!
The ogre swung its club like a madman.
But Jeong Yoo-shin dodged each and every one, swinging his greatsword and slicing the ogre's flesh.
In the midst of the blood, screams, and auditory hallucinations that were chipping away at his mind…
He felt a strange flow.
It was similar to the flow he had felt when he was fighting the kin of the Outer God in the sewer.
Should he say that he could predict where the opponent's attack would come from?
The flow of the air cut by the weapon.
The ogre's pained breathing.
In the extreme situation, his sharpened senses became a premonition and moved him.
It was as good as saying that he had become Gung Ye*, as he could see clearly even with his eyes closed.
At some point, a few of the explorers who had finished their treatment sat down at the cave entrance and watched Jeong Yoo-shin's fight.
It was a situation where only those who were relatively unharmed had barely managed to crawl out because of a lack of recovery potions.
Someone muttered.
"I-Is that something a human can do?"
"Under a sky where the hideous thing is floating, how...?"
Someone raised a hand and pointed.
"Look at that!!!"
"Don't tell me he's closing his eyes?!"
"Crazy...!!!"
The ogre swung its club, half-crazed. Not content with that, it tried to grab Jeong Yoo-shin with its remaining hand.
However…
It couldn't catch up with the movements of Jeong Yoo-shin, who had his eyes closed.
Truly divine movements.
Footsteps that were impossible for anyone but a madman.
The ogre brought down its club.
Kra-boooooom!!!
The huge club dug into the ground and got stuck.
Now!
Jeong Yoo-shin ran up the club.
The ogre, greatly alarmed, swung its other arm.
Jeong Yoo-shin jumped from the club and flew high into the air.
[Sacred Weapon]
He grabbed the golden Zweihänder with one hand and fell from the sky.
The ogre instinctively raised one hand. Trusting its hard skin, it made another mistake.
As the Zweihänder dug into the ogre's hand, the ogre's movements stopped.
A chance.
Jeong Yoo-shin got on the ogre's shoulder and raised his broken greatsword.
He didn't know if it was because of the blood or if it had actually heated up, but the greatsword felt too hot right now.
Moreover, this greatsword began to suck up his magic like crazy.
He wanted to swing it right away and cut off the ogre's head, but he had to rescue Armin first.
"Armin!!!"
Jeong Yoo-shin shouted.
"Uooh."
Armin's voice was heard from not too far away.
"Get a grip!!!"
"Huuk. H-Help...!"
‘This little shit. He's not coming to his senses.’
Jeong Yoo-shin opened his mouth again.
"Armin, Eru’s a boy."
"Pardon?"
His voice became clear, as if he had snapped back to his senses.
Jeong Yoo-shin was so dumbfounded that he was silent for a moment.
"Eru is a boy, you bastard."
"W-Where am I...? N-No! That can't be!!!"
Armin's voice trembled.
"Check it later. For now, you have to live, so jump toward me."
"R-Right here?"
Armin was barely hanging on to the back of the ogre's neck.
"Just close your eyes and jump. There's no time."
"Aren't you the one with your eyes closed, Skar-hyungnim?!"
"Just jump, you bastard!!!"
Jeong Yoo-shin shouted.
He felt like he was going to die of frustration, wasting precious time standing on the ogre's shoulder like this.
"I-I understand!"
He heard the sound of Armin flying over.
Jeong Yoo-shin caught Armin and immediately put him on his back.
"Keep your eyes closed."
"U-Understood! But hyung-nim, your sword is on fire!"
No wonder it was so hot, was it a magic sword?
"It's because I'm pissed. And please just close your eyes, Armin."
"I understand!"
Jeong Yoo-shin stood on the ogre's shoulder, got into a stance, and twisted his waist.
One cut.
He bestowed the Half-Ogre Gauntlets trait on both his hands.
And poured what little telekinetic power he still had into the black iron greatsword.
"Hup!!!"
He swung the greatsword.
The blazing greatsword burned and tore through the ogre's neck hide and shattered its neck bone.
But it still wasn’t enough.
Jeong Yoo-shin gritted his teeth and poured his magic into the broken greatsword.
The red heat of the greatsword momentarily stretched out, cut through the ogre's cervical vertebrae, burned its spinal cord, and pierced through, completely severing its neck.
The ogre's head flew into the air.
Puuuuuuuuut!!!!!
A fountain of hot blood gushed from the cross-section of the ogre's neck, soaking Jeong Yoo-shin and Armin.
The headless ogre slowly collapsed.
Jeong Yoo-shin timed it and landed on the ground.
Kuuuuuung!!!
As the huge ogre's body collapsed to the ground, Jeong Yoo-shin's body shook for a moment.
He felt like he was going to die.
But he couldn't rest now.
"Karin!!!"
"H...ere."
He heard a voice that was about to die out at any moment ahead of him.
Jeong Yoo-shin ran toward the voice, fumbled on the ground, and held Karin.
"Come this way!!!"
The explorers shouted.
Jeong Yoo-shin took the two of them and entered the cave.
He opened his eyes.
His vision was still distorted, and he heard a bizarre auditory hallucination, but he ignored it.
First, Karin.
[Eternal Ark]
His head throbbed from the excessive magic consumption.
He barely managed to summon the golden coffin, took out a healing potion, sprinkled a little on Karin's body, and fed the rest to her.
He took Armin, who was on his back, down and looked at him.
Except for his pale face, he seemed fine.
Next…
"We'll help with the rest."
Two explorers approached him.
Jeong Yoo-shin took out a large amount of recovery potions and ointments from the golden coffin.
"Treat this elf first, and then check on the explorers inside. If you eat and run... you know, right?"
One of the explorers shook his head.
"That’ll never happen."
"I'm watching."
Jeong Yoo-shin glared at the explorers and then closed his eyes.
The explorers looked at Jeong Yoo-shin, who was sitting with his eyes closed, and clicked their tongues.
"D-Did we really see that?"
"It's hard to believe, but it's true. First, let's treat the elf and then check on the others. Quickly!"
"Alright."
At the entrance of the shelter, just before the 18th floor.
The explorers began to move diligently.

T/N - Sorry for the delayed upload/unlock. Had to wait for the green light since the site was undergoing migration. Should be all good now. I’ll be going back to my usual schedule after this. (2/28/26)
Damn! What an awesome fight! A bit overdramatic though. Did the author really need to pull the fight out into the open right under the gaze of the ‘hideous thing’? 😅 Still, the MC fighting with his eyes closed was pretty badass.
Also, that sword wasn’t a scam after all! It can burn AND extend? Where the fuck do I sign for that?!
Lastly, lol so Armin finds out this way. I can’t wait for them to get out of the labyrinth. 😂
*Gung Ye was a Korean warlord and king who lived during the Later Three Kingdoms period of Korea (late 9th to early 10th century). In his later years, as depicted in popular culture, he grew more paranoid and tyrannical. He famously claimed to have supernatural powers of clairvoyance or mind-reading, which seems to be what the author is referencing.
