Concessions in Heaven (4)
"It's been over 30 minutes since the game started, and after an intense tug-of-war, Terran and Protoss have split the map right down the middle, right? Now it's all about precise control in this battle of strength! Oh, Kim Geumgang makes the first move! The classic Protoss build mixing Zealots, Dragoons, High Templars, and Shuttle Reavers against Terran!"
"Mixing in Dark Archons would be tough to overcome with 60s-level physicals. He's going for the sturdy, straightforward classic Protoss combo to win the slugfest."
"But Park Cheol-kwon isn't backing down either! He's already lined up Siege Tanks on the front! While they're breaking through that Vulture minefield, how many shells are gonna rain down? And Missile Turrets don't eat up supply—they're free to spam as long as you've got resources! Shuttles can't do shit!"
Like fanatical cultists fearless of death, the Zealot and Dragoon forces charging toward the map's dead center were the last warriors of Aiur, with no way home. In a even 50-50 matchup between Terran and Protoss, Protoss tends to be slightly disadvantaged because their units guzzle more resources. Sure, Protoss units have superior individual performance, but compared to Terran—who can easily optimize builds with unified forces—they're a step behind.
If Protoss isn't prepping Carriers, Terran has no real reason to build Goliaths, so they usually standardize on Vultures, Siege Tanks, and Science Vessels. Plus, their signature "you come to me" tactics force Protoss to micromanage a diverse mix of units all at once, while Terran has it easy.
"EMP... EMP lands perfectly! That shit hurts bad! Even with exquisite Dragoon control clearing the mines, they can't dodge the Siege Tank barrages! Zealots are melting like Zerglings!!"
"Kim Geumgang's all-in on this round. He's loading High Templars into Shuttles with Reavers, dropping and recalling... Psionic Storm! Storm hits perfectly!"
"You don't know! You don't know! You don't know!!!!!!!!"
The young blood Park Cheol-kwon versus the seasoned politico Kim Geumgang. The believers were already split into factions, screaming the two players' names like madmen.
"Ah, Zealots dying too fast! EMP, mines, and focused Siege Tank fire! No matter how many Zealots, they can't tank that!"
"Dragoons clear the minefield and drop a Storm, but they're losing ground in the brute-force brawl. Siege Tank +3 attack is brutal. And Dragoons are big targets—easy to hit!"
"If a Reaver scarabs here, it'd be huge... Reaver just fired! Fired! Does it go in? Scarab jackpot... BOOM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
The Reaver scarab slipped right into the Siege Tank line bloodied by Storm and exploded dead center, devouring five tanks. In a flash, 425+ instant DPS vanished. At +3 attack, Siege Tanks pack 85 instant firepower with splash—that's a gut punch for Terran.
"Park Cheol-kwon needs to respond! Reinforce the front fast with mobile Vultures to buy time. He's still got Factory resources!"
"But if Kim Geumgang pushes now, he could snag the center and flip the game on a knife's edge. Lose center now, and Park's 7 o'clock is fucked! How's he blocking forces from 6? Cut that resource line, and it's GG!"
"Wait, what's that veering sharp from 1 to 3? Dropship! Dropship! Dropship!!"
Kim Geumgang's face hardened at the Dropship's sneaky 3 o'clock poke. He'd figured holding center would secure 3 naturally, so he'd beefed up 1 o'clock defenses. But despite losing the center brawl, Park struck 3 anyway. With only a couple Photon Cannons, 3 got stripped bare by the Marine-Medic squad in seconds.
Probes and Science Vessels popping EMPs stripped the Nexus shield in a blink. In a mere dozen seconds, a bionics raid vaporized the 3 o'clock Nexus.
"Kim Geumgang got cocky! Thought winning center meant they'd hit 1 for the comeback—but bam, 3 o'clock! Sucker punch!!"
"Ironically, Kim was the one aggressively shuttling drops everywhere, so he never saw Park's coming. Figured a few Vultures in a Dropship could've been handled by Cannons—no biggie!"
"Spend a few hundred resources, and you've got a bionics squad with better cost-performance than Vultures. Park hit the sore spot perfect!"
As the brutal match dragged on endlessly, we munched snacks from the kitchen staff, eyes glued to the massive screen. Normally for sermons, now hijacked for game broadcast.
"Kim Geumgang took center, but Park cut the resource line first. They've traded blows—neither can push rashly now. Believer A, thoughts on this stalemate?"
"Yes! As the Savior decreed, it all boils down to who starves the other's resources first! Normally, Protoss winning center would farm safely and pressure Terran's 12 and 7. But with 3 raided, unit production's crippled. Block Terran advances and rebuild resources—that's priority one."
"Perfect spot to shift momentum. Stalemate drags, Terran suffers?"
"Exactly. Zerg and Protoss are offense beasts; Terran's defense-oriented. Even mechs prioritize durability over damage. Protoss nibbles resource lines, and Terran struggles to counter. Push rebuilt forces? Get them chomped."
"And right on cue—Uplinked Zealots charging 7! Dragoons hold center, blocking Vulture rushes! 60s-level sense!"
I slammed the cookie basket upside down, sensing the end. Or was it? Shockingly, Park dispatched a swarm of barely-touched Science Vessels to 7.
And...
"eraser! ERASER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
No Dragoons meant no shield recharge needed—just Irradiate, scatter EMPs, and zip around. Zealots racing to wreck the resource line got toyed with by Irradiate before even touching the Command Center.
Kim yanked Zealots back in panic, but Park walled the 7 entrance with buildings—fish in a barrel.
"Dragoons too late! Park saw them move and counter-pushed with rebuilt forces! Center win means nothing now!!!"
"Zealots all die there, and it's over! Dragoons rushed south, positions sloppy! Park's army right on their ass!"
"Forces trapped at 7! No advance, no retreat! Surrounded! Fuck my mom!"
"Double fish-in-a-barrel success—Terran unstoppable? Eats fleeing Dragoons, cleans up. Game over! OVER!"
"Ah, Kim Geumgang's 60s physicals shone, but that geezer brain couldn't keep up! Classic Terran-cheat whining incoming!!!!"
"Kim Geumgang throws his mouse!"
"GG... GG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
Young blood's dramatic reversal victory! Believers swarmed the stage roaring. Park burst from the booth, fist-pumping with a mighty kiai.
All believers chanted in unison: "Savior! Savior! Savior!"
Unable to ignore their desperate pleas, I teared up with emotion and emerged bearing the "Salvation Cup"—carved from marble by my own hand. This 50kg-plus holy relic was prepped special for the finals winner.
I kicked off hard, launching sky-high, then vertical-dropped onto Park Cheol-kwon gazing up expectantly. To nail this insane move, I'd dug up traces from a Cretaceous dino encyclopedia long buried.
"Heaven Meteor!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
