Chapter 12
Chapter 12
The carriage stopped in front of a massive stone building that exuded overwhelming pressure from the very entrance.
“Lord Irgripa, please get off. This is the most expensive place in the entire southern region.”
Kanish led the way as if she were already familiar with the place, but what stood before them was a gigantic glass cylinder. Inside it, four partitioned compartments rotated endlessly.
It was hard to believe this was meant to be a building.
Honestly, I don’t want to go in.
“Um… what are you doing there?”
Kanish, who had already passed through one of the rotating compartments, waved at him from behind the glass wall. Lufus had already gone far inside, happily browsing rows of glittering accessories, which made it even harder to just stand here doing nothing.
This feeling in my throat was strange—like something was stuck despite not having a throat at all.
“Ah, I’m coming.”
Standing at the entrance, he watched the spinning glass trap-like structure swallow and spit out people one by one.
It seemed to rotate at a fixed interval. If he timed it correctly, he could pass through without being touched.
Unless the one who built it suddenly changed the speed or made it reverse, there was no issue. At least, nothing like that seemed to be happening.
‘Let’s go.’
Clenching his fist, he timed the moment when the empty space behind Kanish’s vanished position aligned with his path.
Like a predator pouncing on prey, he launched himself forward with precise timing.
CRASH.
A loud explosion echoed as the glass partition shattered.
“…Lord Irgripa.”
Inside the debris of the shattered structure, Kanish stood, arms crossed, staring at him.
…
Did I do something wrong?
Inside the building
The situation escalated in a rather complicated way. Baromet guards rushed in, alarmed by the man who had broken through the rotating glass structure.
However, it didn’t last long. Once they recognized Kanish and Lufus, they immediately began bowing and apologizing, and before long, they were escorted—still confused—to a VIP room.
‘…How luxurious.’
Even to someone unfamiliar with luxury, the chandelier-lit room was clearly filled with expensive furnishings.
Across from him, an elderly baromet stood trembling as he continuously bowed while pouring tea.
Only now did it become clear—Kanish and Lufus seemed to hold very high status.
“…Haha, our general manager is currently out on urgent business, so I hope this does not offend you.”
He glanced nervously at Kanish and Lufus while pouring tea with shaking hands.
“I wasn’t aware such distinguished guests would visit so suddenly. We’ve already sent people to fetch the manager. He will arrive shortly.”
“Not necessary. We’re just here to shop.”
At Kanish’s cold reply, the old baromet broke into a cold sweat, unable to even wipe it away.
A heavy silence filled the room. Even the steam rising from the teacups seemed to hesitate before dispersing.
Then—
Rapid footsteps echoed from the hallway.
“What’s going on? No warning, and you just show up like this?”
A middle-aged baromet wearing a golden insignia burst through the door.
From the reaction of the elderly baromet, this man was clearly the general manager.
He casually lit a cigarette and sat on the sofa across from them, then immediately extended his hand toward Kanish.
“Seriously, how urgent is this? You dragged me out of an audience with Belial. And what’s with breaking the door?”
“…”
“Whatever. I can already tell this isn’t going to be pleasant.”
When Kanish ignored his hand, he awkwardly chuckled and stood up, exhaling smoke as he continued.
“So it’s the south and north making noise, while you can’t even handle the Green Dungeon, huh.”
“That’s right.”
“Yeah, I can’t really be in a good mood about this either.”
He formed a money gesture with his fingers and looked at Irgripa with sharp interest.
“Not plant-type this time.”
The manager approached and tapped Irgripa’s shoulder bone, then even reached toward his hollow skull, inspecting it like merchandise.
“Hmm… I’ve never seen an undead like this before. Production source is the Green Dungeon?”
He chuckled, but Irgripa only tilted his shoulder slightly, sensing something strange as fingers rummaged inside his empty skull.
‘So this is how they measure clothes in cities?’
In his human life, clothes were made or adjusted at home, not bought like this. Shops of this scale were rare in villages.
“Hey! Don’t touch him so much! What are you doing poking around like that!”
Lufus shouted angrily from the side.
“Ahaha, I need to inspect the product properly.”
“I warned you!”
“Got it, got it, Miss Lufus.”
The manager casually ignored her protest and continued examining Irgripa.
“Fascinating. I’ve never seen an undead with literally nothing inside. How much are you thinking?”
“I’m not for sale.”
At that moment, Kanish’s voice dropped like ice.
The manager blinked.
“…Not for sale?”
“That’s right. He’s not a product.”
The silence that followed was heavy.
The cigarette fell from the manager’s mouth onto the floor.
He slowly looked at Irgripa.
Then, as if his soul had left his body—
THUD.
He collapsed from the sofa and slammed his forehead into the marble floor.
“I-I’m deeply sorry…! I failed to recognize the ruler of the Green Dungeon…!”
His earlier composure had vanished completely.
Some time earlier
Thirty minutes ago, Argas had still been in the Belial Dungeon, reporting as usual.
“Lykans sisters have arrived? Without prior notice?”
“Yes! They are currently in the VIP room, but the atmosphere is… unusual!”
“You idiot! And you interrupt an audience for that?!”
Argas kicked the messenger in frustration.
But then Belial spoke lazily from her throne.
“…Let them be. The Green Dungeon has been the center of attention lately.”
At her words, Argas immediately bowed deeply.
“As you command, Lady Belial.”
She continued, uninterested.
“Probably just here to sell something. Pressure from the east and north must be tight.”
Argas nodded eagerly.
“Then we can buy Green Dungeon products at a low price!”
Thus, he came running—expecting a business opportunity.
But now…
Why had everything turned into this?
Argas pressed his forehead harder into the floor, trembling.
‘Why… WHY…!’
All he had done was inspect what he thought was merchandise.
But the “product” was the absolute ruler of the Green Dungeon.
And now that being stood silently, looking down at him with an empty skull.
No answer came.
Only silence.
