'They're having a blast.'
The Hero, Asella, gazed at the post YasaengGrill had uploaded, a warm smile spreading across her face.
The recent Gallery posts hadn't been great. From El Dorado political drama to the Blood Cult, and even real-life field reports. She was already on the run, and with all this piling up, it was exhausting.
To top it off, even the sub-mod and Cheonma got dragged into field incidents, so proper moderation was out of the question.
'I wish we got posts like this every day.'
The Gallery was full of human desires, but every now and then, heartwarming stuff popped up. Pet photos and videos. Kids growing like weeds. All sorts of feel-good stories. They felt like flowers blooming in a dumpster— all the more precious for it.
'I hope El Dorado resolves peacefully too...'
Asella turned to look at her hand. She clutched a newspaper.
[Protests Growing More Violent. The Pope's Stance?]
[Pope's Side Claims Manipulation by Mage King Cardir...]
[Citizens Rebel, Demanding Pope's Resignation...]
The paper detailed the incident shaking not just El Dorado but the whole world. It was why Asella, as head mod, could barely fulfill her duties lately.
She pondered as she read. 'Why the hell would they say that...'
The Pope's side's "human-pig" remark had shocked her. It wasn't Gallery rumors—Mage King Cardir had exposed it directly. The Pope's camp called it a fake video, but would Cardir stoop to that? No way. He had a rep as an eccentric, but he wasn't some idiot fabricating drama for kicks.
'The Goddess asked us to build a better world before she left. So why...'
The Pope was the Goddess's proxy, not some hat-wearing tyrant. The Hero was her sword, not forged to slaughter the innocent. But this Pope had forgotten his role and was botching it badly.
So what should she, the Goddess's blade, do? Side with the people and point her sword at him? Or wait patiently for him to snap out of it?
'I... don't know about that far.'
Drawing her sword on the Pope meant rebellion. Unheard of in El Dorado history. But flip that—it meant things were so rotten up top that rebellion was even thinkable.
Rot had to be cut away, and that needed the sharpest blade. Sharper than any other.
'...But it doesn't have to be me.'
Asella pushed the thought aside. She already bore the traitor label. Was stepping up now wise? Nah. Just a bit longer. A little more waiting, and opportunity would come. A hopeful one to fix everything.
"Pardon the intrusion."
Asella whipped her head toward the voice. Trackers? Nah, didn't seem like it. They'd be in full armor, not cloaked like this guy.
She kept her guard up, mouth opening as she eyed escape routes. "What do you want?"
"Heard the traitor Hero was here."
"...!"
Asella's eyes narrowed. Definitely a hunter. Her look was too unique to hide under a hood. Suspicious getup aside, her hair was that rarest orange. Word was out that the Hero had orange locks—made tracking easy. Especially with her ornate Revolution sheath clashing against her ragged clothes. No matter how she hid, rumors spread fast.
'Trackers already here... Well, we've held out a while.'
El Dorado chaos had slowed pursuits, but not forever. Asella shifted back, ready to bolt.
The cloaked figure spoke with total certainty. "Asella, right?"
"...?"
Asella tilted her head. Familiar voice. Husky feminine tone with a weird charm.
Whoosh! The stranger flung off her hood, revealing herself fully.
Asella's eyes went wide. Short brown hair, cat-like upturned eyes. Cynical vibe, but stunning all the same.
"Re-Reina sis?!"
"Yeah, dummy. It's your sis. How've you been?"
Pre-exile, they'd been tight. Like real sisters to family-less Asella.
Joy lit her face briefly before doubt crept in. "H-how'd you find me, sis?"
"Tracked the knights chasing you. Got ahead of 'em now."
"So... they're..."
"In this city right now."
Bad news. Time to bail ASAP.
"Then we gotta run, right?!"
"Yup. Got a spot in mind?"
"Yeah. Head there and plan on the way."
Asella and Reina decided to shake the tails first. They caught up on everything en route. Ludwig's status? El Dorado updates? Pope's moves?
"That damn Pope brat. Won't budge even now. Says he can't vacate the Goddess's seat or some shit."
"...!"
"Purging even Teacher, doing whatever. If this turns bloody..."
El Dorado sounded worse than thought. Protests everywhere, but no focal point. Give 'em that, and they could oust the Pope.
"...ra."
"...?"
"Asella!"
"Eek?! Ack?! Huh?!"
Deep in thought, Asella startled hard. She turned blankly to find Reina staring.
"What're you thinking? Didn't even hear me."
"Oh... nothing. Just tired..."
"Tired? Yeah, makes sense. Let's crash somewhere decent."
"Yeah..."
Asella glanced at Reina's face—grimy, unwashed. Fugitives couldn't afford baths.
'Why's even sis suffering?'
Without Ludwig's sacrifice, she'd be in the Four Seasons Forest too. Ludwig scraped by, but Reina had it rough.
'This can't go on.'
No more innocents hurt. The Pope didn't serve the Goddess—just chased power on her blessings.
As Asella's resolve shifted, her holy sword Revolution began to faintly glow.

"Hmm hmm~ Hm hm~"
Lately, Olfather Cardir was in high spirits. He'd scored a once-in-a-lifetime research subject.
"Truly... magnificent."
He murmured at the golden stone in its translucent barrier— YasaengGrill's gift: sky whale dung.
Sky whales alone would rock academia; their poop? Insane. Dragon musk was rare enough, but sky whale dragon musk? Priceless.
'This musk makes life float skyward. Just burning it, no ingestion needed.'
Facts from YasaengGrill and SunForever. Using it as bait or perfume? Wasteful, risky. But info gained—good enough.
'The sky whale's secrets hide in this musk.'
Sky whales defied biology: wingless sea dwellers flying? Weirder than Grill's giraffe tales.
'Wanna ask Grill for more samples...'
Fist-sized chunk was generous, but greed's endless—especially for researchers.
'Still, beggars can't be choosers. And he said he'd hook me up if he had extra.'
Valuable, sure. Survival boon? Meh. Flight's cool, but earning it? Hellish. Grill wouldn't ditch dignity for poop snacks.
Knock knock-
[Lord Cardir, sky whale conference starting soon.]
A mage called from outside as he pondered experiments.
Sky whales shook academia; mage tower pervs amped the hype.
"Be there shortly."
Cardir felt the same buzz. He'd hide the musk but snag ideas from the meet. He gazed longingly, then exited.
Clunk-
Silence blanketed the lab, packed with tools and specimens. The musk stood out, barrier-sealed like a treasure...
Flash!
It suddenly glowed—like activating.
Glowing rocks? Meh. What followed? Next level.
Rumble rumble RUMBLE!!!
The whole mage tower quaked.
Everyone panicked—Cardir included. Lifelong tower dweller, zero quakes. Lab-induced tremors? This was different.
"Wh-what?!"
"E-earthquake?!"
Outsiders felt it too, centered on the tower. But worse unfolded...
BOOM rumble CRASH!!!
"Th-th-there!!"
"Wh-wh-what?!"
One pointed; others looked. Jaw-dropping horror.
The sky-piercing mage tower was rising—higher, higher. Slow, steady, like the ground itself ascending.
"The, the, the tower...!"
"Mage tower's flying...?!"
"Oh, Aragon merciful..."
The mage tower floated skyward.
******
"Whew, that was fun, Wonmo. One more flight?"
"Kyuu!"
"Yeah, yeah. Just once more."
"I hate it!"
"Didn't ask you."
Gets fun once you're used to it.
