Mining (1): Watch the Gorilla Talk First
YasaengGrill (Video of the leader gorilla talking) (Video of the leader gorilla talking) (Video of the leader gorilla and his guards talking) (Video of the leader gorilla talking) (Video of the leader gorilla threatening) Uploading this cuz too many of you don't believe it. Figure out for yourselves if it's fake or real after watching.
└Cheonma It's always so fascinating no matter how many times I see it. The speech pattern even sounds like something from ancient times.
└SwordTasteStar I don't know much about Jungwon language, but what is it saying?
└Cheonma SwordTasteStar is a liar, and only this lady Cheonma is great, or something like that.
└SwordTasteStar She opens her mouth and it's lies again;;
└Translation tampering wtf
└Holy
└Shit
└Bitch
└What is this lmao
└Look at that unity lololol
└Olfather Oh my Aragon. Not just the leader, but the gorilla next to him is talking too. This is gonna shake up the academic world...!
└Professor. Aren't those gorillas threatening us?
└Olfather The possibility is slim. Unless they've turned the Four Seasons Forest into their own civilization.
└Civilization in the Four Seasons Forest whoa
└Those bastards are strong lol they even use tools.
└Just need to start farming and boom, second humanity complete.
└So are they beastkin? Or what?
└Shouldn't we classify them as beastkin?
└SusanghalJeongdorok Too ambiguous to call them beastkin. Their limb proportions don't match.
└Olfather The comment above is correct. Beastkin need human-like body proportions to qualify.
└SmartMine But do they even have names? If they have language, they must have names, right?
└Probably given by whoever taught them to talk. Grill or something?
└Dude's off doing other stuff now. No replies at all.
└SmartMine Then we should name them. How about SonYukGong?
└Not SonOgong, but SonYukGong? What lol
└SmartMine SonOgong is the monkey from Jungwon myths. This is a gorilla, so SonYukGong. Pretty damn good, right?
└Holy shit, are you a genius? IQ over 150 for sure!
└SmartMine I'm a little smart lol
└And this smartass is gallerying lol. Classic Gallery. Tossed them a big bait and they're entertaining themselves. Some useful guesses too, made browsing a breeze.
'They all use ancient speech patterns, so probably taught by someone from the old days.'
The standout part was the leader gorilla using archaic speech. Languages evolve over time. Even in Korea, compare speech from 50 years ago to now—plenty of differences. And about 60 years back, the Blood War caused a massive shift in Jungwon language.
The leader gorilla's dialect matches what someone from that era would use.
'All sorts of crazy shit has happened.'
From the Immortal King to the Blood War. That's human history. Half of it just wars and battles. Endless punching and fighting as daily life.
'Same here.'
The wilds are no different. Constant fights for survival every day. I almost died to the leader gorilla just now. Can't blame anyone. As I've said a million times, my own nose is made of stone right now.
I pondered how to spend the day. The leader gorilla completely wrecked my schedule, so time for revisions.
'Should I... build a door and walls?'
One palm strike from the leader gorilla and walls or doors would crumble. Even in The Three Little Pigs, the brick house held up. But the leader gorilla makes it all pointless.
'At least he apologized, so no more territory invasions.'
But who knows when another powerhouse like him pops up. All my hard-built structures could collapse with a single crack.
Not just structures—the whole cave could collapse like my shattered nerves.
'Screw doors and walls. Just install CCTV.'
Nice and clean decision. Better to realize early. If I'd built everything just for him to smash it, the despair would've doubled.
That said, I can't just let thieves waltz in. Wall Valley Pills are fine, but lose my elixirs and I'm dead meat.
'Hide the valuables in the floor.'
Dig into the floor and cover with tiger hide cleverly. Toss in charcoal for odor masking too.
That means digging up the solid cave floor some.
'With a pickaxe?'
The floor's mostly rock mixed with dirt. Can't do it without a hammer or something proper. Plus, left arm's out of commission, so just scouting for now.
'This soft spot looks good.'
I marked the least rocky area. Once my arm's healed—say, after lunch—I'll dig then.
"Chomp chomp! Chomp chomp chomp!"
"Aigoo, Wonmo."
No matter what, don't eat that many bananas. You'll get the runs. How good do they taste that you're eating the peels too? Already four down solo.
Ended up hiding the bananas elsewhere too. Wonmo thrashed, but oh well.
'That about wraps it up...?'
Seems like I've sorted everything. Floor digging after lunch. It's about 11 AM now. Leader gorilla showed early, so plenty of time.
'Fire up the oven first. Then check the river traps.'
Splint on the left hand or not, gotta do what I gotta do. I stood up.
Then wondered what to feed Ppareumbo. He's only had Wall Valley Pills till now, so staples are a mystery.
"Ppareumbo, what do you eat? No more Wall Valley Pills."
"......"
Ppareumbo pointed with a claw somewhere. I turned to look.
Splash! Splash!
Iron pot full of fish. Does he eat fish? He nodded at my questioning look.
'Come to think of it, didn't he try stealing my fish at first?'
Still vivid. Sneaking slow for my fish, got caught red-handed. Was so dumbfounded. Though he showed mercy.
'Gorillas like fish too...'
Like gukbap maybe. Pricey these days, but delicious peasant food. Makes sense—hunting fish is tough for gorillas or Ppareumbo. Golden frogs aren't just sitting by the water. No traps? Good luck.
"Got it. Fish for now. Raw like Wonmo?"
"......"
Nod again. Meals sorted short-term. I loaded Ppareumbo on my back, took Wonmo along.
At the river, two fish in the traps.
'Three this morning, two now. Not bad.'
Still reserves: 3-4 more. Gotta ration with Ppareumbo's share. Smoked meat if needed.
'Self-sufficiency time coming.'
Back-to-back surprises dropping my Gallery reliance. Nah—Gallery's why I'm alive. Gutted the fish, pulled inner cores from innards.
Swish—
"Huh?"
Inner core out, Ppareumbo extends a hand. Like he wants it. I eyed his face and hand, asked dubiously.
"You want the inner core?"
Nod. Kinda absurd, but... I pondered. Inner cores are overflowing. One per fish adds up. Might as well feed him one-by-one.
"Here."
"......"
Popped the round core in his mouth. Wall Valley Pill substitute, I guess. Made a face—less tasty maybe. But plenty of mana for a meal.
'Eating inner cores like food?'
Weirdly fascinating. Just how strong is this guy? I snuck glances, finished cooking. Left arm awkward, but gutting and oven-loading's fine.
'Good the gorillas didn't wreck the oven.'
Belly full, time for Internal Power Method. Would've started inner cores today, but arm's busted—postponed. Maybe dinner. Strength incoming soon.
'Arm... seems mostly healed.'
The syringe-elixir arm. Looks okay. No scouting though. Hunkering down today. Tested it, nodded. Feels tougher.
'Floor first.'
Hide elixirs and valuables. Gorillas won't invade again, but just in case. Smart ones—thieves possible. Bought a decent pickaxe from Gallery.
'Army taught everything.'
Shoveling, pickaxing—all army skills. Complained back then who'd use this? Super useful now. Life's unpredictable. Chuckled wryly, got moving.
'Centrifugal spin. Use the tool's weight, not brute force.'
Smash hard and wreck my back/grip. Army taught that harsh. Hurt once, sucked honey, then no mercy.
Spun the pickaxe, lightly swung into target.
Clang! Clang! Clink!
Used aura fearing it'd resist. Floor wasn't too tough, crumbled easy.
'Deep for boxes. Wide too—might need space for more.'
Rhythm on, swung away. Floor yielding.
Clang! Clink! Clink!
Then... tougher. Rock changed. Steady wins, right? Patient swings.
Clang!
"No."
Clink!
"Why!"
CLAAANG!!!
"Won't dig, damn it!!"
Finally raged, chucked the pickaxe. Aura-charged and still? Stared at half-dug hole. Cleared rock pile by hand.
Sparkle! Sparkle!
Glowing green rock. Not rock—ore. Knew from Oriharukon.
"What the hell is this?"
Won't even let me dig. God screwing me. Anyway, what ore blocks aura-pickaxe?
Snapped pic, posted to Gallery.
Anyone know what this is? YasaengGrill (Photo of glowing green mineral) Digging floor for valuables storage, this crap pops out. What is it? That mithril someone mentioned? So damn hard my hands hurt.
└PassingDwarf Uh. Looks like mithril to me?
└YasaengGrill ? It was real?
