Watch Until the End
In the climax, Eunju slowly lowered her knees onto the fabric. The thin sheet folded coldly beneath her skin. What had been covering her body only moments before now became the surface on which she would lower herself. She set her palms down first, then braced her arms and eased her upper body forward. Her back stretched long and smooth as the weight of her body settled gradually below her waist.
It was nothing more than the simple act of lying prone, yet to Eunju it felt like a surrender far deeper than merely removing her clothes. At that instant the studio grew quiet. The lights stayed exactly as they were, the cameras too, but the men’s breathing had changed. Someone drew in a short, sharp breath. Eunju caught the sound and did not let it slip away.
When she turned her head, she saw Minjun. He was almost rigid. On his face, the urge to stop her and the urge to watch until the very end warred openly. Seeing that expression, Eunju drew a slightly deeper breath. It was no longer only Minjun’s desire. She had brought herself this far. She had knelt of her own will, placed her hands, lowered her body. No one had pushed her down. And that made it all the more humiliating.
The knowledge that this pose was not forced upon her but chosen by Eunju herself set her entire body aflame. At first the photographers had stayed to the side, pretending to capture her face, the tension in her shoulders and arms, the look in her eyes as she gazed at Minjun. But soon their footsteps began to shift. One moved to an oblique angle behind her. Another changed lenses and dropped to a lower position. The older acquaintance made a show of checking the lights before settling where he could best trace the line from her back down to her waist.
No one spoke openly. Yet Eunju understood exactly where their attention had gathered. “The rear line is excellent,” the older man said in a low voice. “The flow from back to waist is particularly fine.” The words were still technical—line, flow, angle, light—but Eunju heard precisely which parts of her they were circling. They were no longer looking at her face. They were studying the most defenseless direction her prone body had created.
Minjun spoke quietly. “Hyung-nim. No close-ups.” The older man answered at once. “I know. We’re only shooting the overall flow.” Overall flow. The phrase lingered in Eunju’s ears. Just because they weren’t forcing parts into the frame did not make it less shameful. On the contrary, the sense that her entire body was being read as a single curve felt even more explicit.
Eunju tightened her fingertips against the fabric. The slightest shift in posture now would reveal more. Standing up, on the other hand, would look like running away. Neither choice felt comfortable. “Sister-in-law, try relaxing the tension in your lower back just a little,” one of the younger photographers suggested carefully. “Don’t force it. Let it settle naturally.”
Naturally. Eunju repeated the word inside her mind. What part of this position could possibly feel natural? Still, she understood what he wanted: not a body braced against tension, but a body that allowed itself to sink. Not a body clenched around shame, but one that softened, even slightly, inside that shame.
She looked at Minjun. His hands were locked tight—hands that wanted to stop her, yet hands that could not. Eunju exhaled very slowly and eased the tension in her waist. At that exact moment the sound of the shutters changed. Click. Click. Click. Shorter, faster, more urgent. The photographers had been waiting for this: the instant when the tension Eunju had been holding with her own strength finally gave way, when the body stiffened by shame yielded, even minutely, to the studio.
Eunju realized it at once, and her face burned. These men were not simply photographing a naked body. They were watching how far she could hold, where she began to melt. They were noting which breath made her tremble, which word of praise loosened her, how long she lingered beneath which gaze. That felt more shameful than anything. It was as if they had seen the cracks in her heart rather than the lines of her body.
“Stay exactly like that,” the older man said. “Don’t move.” Eunju remained still. Not moving was harder. Three lenses behind her were adjusting their angles—slightly left, slightly lower, a touch more diagonal. Footsteps. The soft whir of lenses turning. The tiny electronic beep of autofocus. The faint brush of a camera strap against skin. With only those sounds, Eunju could imagine precisely how she looked. Because she could not see it herself, the image grew sharper. She was being interpreted from directions she could not check, and the men’s eyes were converging on her with relentless focus.
“Sister-in-law, keep your head turned toward Minjun, just like that.” “The face is perfect.” “We’ll handle the rear angles ourselves.” We’ll handle the rear. The words sank quietly through her. The men moved as though they had been granted permission. Eunju, still lying prone, allowed their movement. There was a contract. There was Minjun. She still possessed the right to stop everything. Yet in this moment it felt as if the back of her body had been surrendered to their lenses.
Her breathing quickened. Her back rose and fell, and her waist followed in the smallest of motions. The photographers missed nothing. “Good.” “Keep that breath.” “Sister-in-law, that’s really excellent right now.” The word excellent melted her. She knew too well what they found excellent. The direction she most wanted to hide was the very place they called most beautiful.
Eunju wanted to close her eyes but did not. She kept her head turned, watching Minjun. His face had collapsed. Jealousy, excitement, and fear were tangled together. The moment she saw that expression, Eunju understood. What made her feel most obscene right now was not only the lenses behind her. It was the fact that Minjun knew exactly how those lenses were seeing her—and that, knowing it, she had not yet released the pose.
She let out the smallest breath. She did not run. The older man spoke again, gently. “Sister-in-law, if it becomes uncomfortable, we stop immediately.” Eunju gave no answer. Instead she adjusted the position of her arms. The movement was not meant to hide. It stabilized the prone posture, as if declaring she intended to remain there even longer. At that brief shift the photographers froze for a heartbeat. Then the shutters poured down. Click. Click. Click. Click.
Eunju heard their reaction. She knew what she had just done. She had opened herself a little further in the exact direction they wanted. The knowledge was unbearably shameful. Yet the shame did not stiffen her body. It heated it. She was no longer simply being photographed. She was staying in the angle they desired even though she knew it. She was not pulling away even though she knew their focus had gathered behind her. She was not stopping even as she watched Minjun come apart.
That was the deepest obscenity inside her: not being taken unaware, but understanding and still permitting it. Feeling the shame and recognizing that the shame itself was turning her more completely into a woman. “Oppa,” Eunju called softly. Minjun barely managed a reply. “Yeah.” Knowing the cameras were aimed at her, she whispered as if speaking only to him. “Are you watching?”
Minjun’s hand trembled. “I’m watching.” Eunju did not look away. “Watch until the end.” The moment the words left her, the entire studio froze. Minjun, the photographers—everyone had heard. Eunju did not regret them. On the contrary, only after saying them did she realize how far she had come. Watch until the end. The command had been for Minjun, yet it had also been thrown to every lens in the room. If you want to look, then look. Look at whether I hide, whether I endure, how far I open—look at all of it until the end.
The shutters erupted again. Click. Click. Click. Eunju held the pose, still lying prone. She felt the men’s lenses shifting positions behind her. In front, Minjun’s gaze held her fast. At her back lay the relentless hunger of males. Before her lay her husband’s shattered eyes. Eunju’s body rested between them, and that composition pushed her to the limit.
The shame did not disappear. It grew clearer. Yet the shame no longer made her want to hide. It became heat, the heat became breath, and the breath sank back into her posture. She knew she was stopping their breath. She knew their footsteps were inching closer behind her. She knew how greedily they stared while pretending not to cross the line. And knowing all of it, Eunju did not move.
She allowed them to seek out her most shameful curves. She allowed Minjun to witness the scene to the end. She acknowledged that the strange lust awakened inside her had ceased to be anyone else’s demand and had become her own choice. The climax of the studio was completed there—not because Eunju had revealed anything more, but because she had maintained that prone position even though she knew she could have fled.
