Chapter 2
Chapter 2
Cafe Part-Time Job
Getting sued over something that happens while playing a game isn’t actually that easy.
Unless you do something incredibly stupid—like making sexual jokes at strangers in a drawing game.
Still, there was always that “just in case” possibility.
It’s not like Lee Yeram had money.
We were siblings living together in a tiny one-room apartment—there was no way we were rich.
‘We’re barely getting by as it is.’
Sure, we had some savings left…
but that didn’t mean we could afford to waste money on settlement fees if a lawsuit happened.
That’s why I stepped in.
“Objectively speaking, we’ve already lost the game, so I’ll just focus on chatting.”
I didn’t know much about that game, but judging by how enemies were constantly pushing into our base, it didn’t look winnable.
“Yeah. It’s over.”
With Yeram’s agreement, I slowly started typing.
[All][BackHoleNidaleeSpear][Graves]: Excuse me, Corki
[All][BackHoleNidaleeSpear][Graves]: Could you tell me what I did
[All][BackHoleNidaleeSpear][Graves]: that made you upset?
I asked as politely as possible.
Then—
[All][InsungIsReallyBB][Koriki]: You came to my lane
[All][InsungIsReallyBB][Koriki]: and took all my farm with Q
[All][InsungIsReallyBB][Koriki]: and now you’re pretending you don’t know? lol
They started typing rapidly, clearly upset.
I didn’t really understand what they meant.
But that wasn’t the point.
[All][BackHoleNidaleeSpear][Graves]: I see…
[All][BackHoleNidaleeSpear][Graves]: That must’ve been frustrating
I empathized.
From what they were saying, Yeram probably made a mistake.
[All][InsungIsReallyBB][Koriki]: Whatever, I’m muting
[All][InsungIsReallyBB][Koriki]: No point talking to someone like you
[All][BackHoleNidaleeSpear][Graves]: Okay haha, take care~
And that was it.
I stepped away.
Yeram looked at me with a puzzled expression.
“He’s really mad, so don’t provoke him anymore. Just mute and play. If you get sued, I’m the one who suffers.”
I’d usually take care of things for her—but lawsuits are different.
That’s not something to take lightly.
“Ah, okay.”
She seemed calmer after that and stopped typing altogether.
Better to resolve things peacefully.
Mm.
With that thought, I turned off the lights.
I had work tomorrow.
It was my first time doing this job, so I figured it’d be best to wake up early.
Nothing’s more annoying than getting yelled at by your boss for not knowing your job.
“Yawn.”
And I fell asleep.
Chirp chirp—
I woke up to the sound of birds outside.
Not because it was peaceful—
but because it was unbearably loud.
With so many trees nearby, it was basically noise.
Coo—coo—
Even pigeons added to the irritation.
Annoyed, I shut the window.
“Yawn.”
Waking up early felt strange.
Is this what they call a miracle morning?
Thinking nonsense like that, I cleaned up the bedding on the floor.
Yeram was already gone—probably at school.
Once her exams are over, I’m definitely making her do chores.
‘How dare she make her older brother work.’
Isn’t it normal for younger siblings to help their older brother?
What is this world coming to?
Honestly, maybe it already collapsed once.
Thump thump—
I finished tidying up.
The room was small, so cleaning didn’t take long.
‘What should I wear?’
Today was my first day at a café.
I’d never worked at one before.
Didn’t even know how to use a coffee machine.
I’d learn today, but still…
“Hope no customers come.”
Something that would definitely get me slapped if the boss heard it.
I picked out the cleanest outfit I had.
A sweatshirt and jeans.
Simple, but fine.
That’s what I bought them for.
Ding—
A reminder: one hour until my shift.
Time to leave.
After double-checking everything, I headed out.
“Ugh, what is she even saying? Crazy girl.”
“She’s really screwed.”
Since the café was near a girls’ high school, I saw students in uniform here and there.
‘Shouldn’t they be in class?’
It was well past school hours.
I knew the schedule since Yeram attended that school.
Well, they probably had their reasons.
No point judging.
With that thought, I opened the café door.
“Hey, you’re here.”
“Ah, yes.”
A woman stood inside.
She looked like she could easily kill someone.
I try not to judge by appearance—
but this one felt justified.
‘So this is what people mean by a face that looks like it’s killed someone.’
“Put your stuff there and start learning.”
“Yes.”
There was no way to refuse.
Terrifying.
“You don’t know how to make coffee, right?”
“It’s my first time working at a café.”
“Good. Watch carefully.”
“Yes.”
She started explaining everything—
from the machine to making drinks.
Thankfully, it was simpler than expected.
Then—
“Now you try. From start to finish.”
She sat down and stared at me.
Testing me.
Still, after 30 minutes, I should manage.
I made a simple iced Americano.
“Here.”
She took a sip—
“…Not bad.”
She smiled.
A scary smile, but still a smile.
“Don’t be too nervous. You won’t be working alone.”
“Really?”
I thought I’d be doing everything by myself.
Relief washed over me.
“Do you know how busy it gets after school?”
“True…”
How would I know?
As I grumbled internally, she looked at me again.
“You look like someone who comes here often.”
Probably Yeram.
“I think my sister comes here.”
“Ah, makes sense. You look alike.”
So she really comes here often.
Meanwhile, I’m working my ass off.
Unbelievable.
Maybe I should explain how coffee beans are harvested in Brazil.
“Does she come often?”
“Yeah, with her friends.”
“She has friends… I thought she didn’t.”
I was honestly surprised.
Then—
Ding—
The doorbell rang.
“Hello!!!”
A girl entered energetically.
She must be my coworker.
…I already felt a headache coming on.
“Ah… hi…”
I waved weakly, hoping she’d just act normal.
