Chapter 127: Student Council
Morning came.
On the way to school. I carefully examined a piece of paper plastered on the bulletin board.
"Student Council recruitment...? Jihoon, are you going to join the student council?"
My steps, which had been walking beside me, suddenly stopped, and she followed my gaze as I stared at the bulletin board. Nayoung also spotted the student council recruitment notice and asked the same question.
"That's the plan."
I confirmed to her.
Our school didn't particularly emphasize extracurricular activities. Instead, it emphasized self-study, but since my grades were so good, even when I said I wouldn't do it, the teachers just let me do whatever I wanted, as if to say "go ahead."
As for Nayoung and the other girls, well... Chaeyeon was exempted because she said she would study with me.
Anyway, when I said I would join the student council, Nayoung smiled.
"Jihoon."
"Yeah?"
"I heard the current student council president is fat and incredibly ugly."
I was curious why she suddenly brought up being fat and ugly.
"Just like I used to be."
Beyond sympathy, I caught a glimpse of an unknown possibility. No, seeing a woman who looked like that, she was hoping that, just like herself and Huila unnie, she might change. Since there was already the precedent of herself and Huila unnie. So, similarly, she was projecting the current student council president, whose face was so bizarrely and uniquely ugly that one couldn't help but remember it after seeing it once, onto her past self.
Also, even though I had been refusing the position of student council president, showing no interest despite the teachers' constant recommendations, for me to suddenly say I wanted to join the student council...
"Shin Eunah...? The student council president, right? A third year."
Nayoung guessed.
"She's in the same boat as me and Huila unni?"
She said it with a tone of conviction.
I had no intention of hiding it from her, so I readily nodded.
"That's right."
"Hmm."
Hearing my answer, she made an interested expression.
"They're picking three people from the first year, so should I do it too?"
"The student council?"
"Yeah. You said you were doing it too. You're good at seducing women on your own, but just in case, I'll help you."
It felt like her ulterior motive was to secure even more time with me.
"I wouldn't mind that."
There was no reason to refuse. Nayoung was so tolerant of me getting more women that she was actively trying to help me. And unlike the past, with Nayoung and Huila unnie, she wasn't an easy woman who would fall in love just from a little kindness. She had already overcome everything except her appearance, so there was no way to get her body and heart with half-hearted methods.
So, there would definitely be times when Nayoung's help was unavoidably necessary.
"No, it would be good if you helped. She seems a bit difficult."
"Hehe...! Leave it to me!"
She clung to my body and nodded without a moment's hesitation. Nayoung readily agreed to cooperate in seducing another woman other than herself.
I wrapped my arm around this clever, adorable, and pretty girl's waist.
"Thank you."
"If you're thankful, give me a kiss."
"Here?"
It was during the commute, so many students were nearby. And regardless of whether they were male or female, they were drawn to Nayoung's incredibly beautiful bright smile, and were harboring jealousy towards me, who was acting all lovey-dovey while clinging to a woman like this. So, there were too many eyes on us.
"Yeah... You don't want to?"
Nayoung made a pitiful expression.
"No way."
When was I ever one to care about other people's gazes?
I smiled and brought my lips to hers. Soon after, our lips met.
I felt a soft texture, and the surroundings became noisy.
"Ah...!"
As her tongue suddenly invaded through Nayoung's lips, I hastily pulled my lips away, and she let out a sigh full of regret. It wasn't that she hated kissing, but if we kissed here, it felt like I would naturally caress her breasts or ass and freely do perverted things. That's why I refused the kiss.
"If only I had been a little faster...!"
Not knowing my feelings, Nayoung blamed herself for being too slow.
"Let's go quickly. I'll satisfy you properly later."
"Okay!"
The distance that had briefly widened quickly narrowed, and the gap in which to squeeze through completely disappeared. We moved our steps clinging to each other, as if trying to spread rumors that we were clearly lovers.
Time passed, and we submitted our applications to the student council. Then, the interview time came.
I had no idea why they were doing it like a proper company interview process for just a student council. First, you write a self-introduction and submit it. If you pass the document screening, a face-to-face interview awaits you.
"Next person, please come in."
With my consistently outstanding grades and having swept all the awards from the competitions I participated in, there was no way I would fail the document screening. I probably passed it with flying colors like a Hi-Pass.
Anyway, while Nayoung and four other students were waiting in the waiting room for their turn, my turn came.
"Go do well...!"
"Of course."
I got up from my seat with Nayoung's support.
I left the classroom and entered the student council room right next door, where I could find three interviewers.
On the far right was a handsome male senior with a kind impression, on the far left was a female senior with a cute impression that made her look lively, and finally, in the center. The current student council president, Shin Eunah, was sitting there. She was fat, with acne and blackheads all over her face, as if she had a serious disease. Her face looked dirty and even grotesque, and she was wearing glasses.
"Hello."
"Yes, hello."
When I greeted them, the male senior only wore a pleasant smile, and Shin Eunah just slightly tilted her head. The only one who returned my greeting was the unknown female senior.
"You're Lee Jihoon, right?"
"Yes, that's right."
"Hmm... Lee Jihoon... Lee Jihoon... Wow... It's this guy, huh?"
The senior looking at my documents couldn't hide her admiration.
She looked at me with sparkling eyes, seeing my dazzling award history and grades.
"Pass."
"Hey!"
As soon as she said 'Pass' without any particular questions, Shin Eunah hurriedly tried to stop her and yelled.
"No, Eunah! You can't let a guy like this go!"
"Who passes someone just by asking their name?!"
"So what! What if we make a mistake and he suddenly says he won't do it?! We have to get him in first and see!"
"Even so, we should at least talk first and then decide!"
Neither of them was entirely wrong. The one trying to recruit a great talent without any questions, and the one saying that outstanding skills or not, you have to have a conversation first to check if their personality fits with ours—both positions were understandable, making it hard to pick a winner.
"Now, now. Both of you, calm down. Calm down."
Eventually, the male senior stepped in and put an end to the argument between the two.
Agreeing with President Shin Eunah's opinion, the male senior threw a series of questions at me. Why did I specifically choose this school despite having such good grades? What did I hope to gain during my three years at this school? And so on. Honestly, these didn't feel like questions for a mere member of a school's student council. It's not like I was the student council president. You just pick people who get along and seem like they'll do a good job.
That was my thought, but it seemed their will to genuinely run the student council was firm. So, I answered all the questions that felt like they shouldn't have to be asked with sincerity.
And so, all the questions ended.
"You've worked hard."
I got up from my seat, bowed my head, and left the student council room.
I did well... right? Why was I so nervous? I don't think I had been this nervous even when I met the owner of the world's top Korean company. I laughed bitterly, thinking back to when I was a novice who had just dipped my toes into the big leagues.
As I stood in front of the student council room for a moment.
"How did it go?"
I met Nayoung, who had come out of the waiting room. She approached me right away with a bright smile and asked.
"I think I did well... Hmm... It's ambiguous."
"Ambiguous?"
"Yeah. A bit ambiguous."
Thinking about it now, I think I answered too sincerely. The instincts from going to countless interviews before my return had awakened, so I talked at length, which felt a bit excessive. Honestly, if I were them, hearing answers that didn't fit my age come out of my mouth smoothly without hesitation, I might have found it a bit off-putting and rejected me.
Well, it was just my personal thought, and from the student council's perspective, there was no reason for them to let me go either.
"But I'll still get in."
"Hehe. Then I must definitely get in too!"
Nayoung was filled with determination.
"If you're done talking, could you please go in quickly? I don't have a lot of time."
"Ah...! Sorry!"
"It's fine..."
The female senior who was guiding the waiting candidates waved her hand dismissively and pushed Nayoung into the student council room.
Nayoung would do well enough. I have no worries. I was just worried about Cheolyong, who had come to school separately and taken his interview before us to get into the student council just like Nayoung and me.
I both hoped Cheolyong would pass, and felt a little burdened about targeting Shin Eunah if he did pass, so my feelings were complicated. Well, it wouldn't be too late to worry about it after seeing the results.
I stood in this spot until Nayoung came out.
Time passed, and I greeted Nayoung, who came out looking relaxed and with a bright smile.
Like this, Nayoung, I, and even Cheolyong passed the interviews and became the final successful candidates.
