Chapter Title: Ur and Gray
-------------------------------------
"You lost, didn’t you, Laxus…?"
Cana, who was wearing a long white dress with delicate lace trim, spoke with a smile as she looked at Laxus, who was lying on the guild floor while staring at the ceiling in a daze.
"Tch, mind your own business, Cana..."
Once he recognized who had approached him, Laxus turned his face — which was slightly swollen from a beating — away.
"Hehehe...
You don't seem to be having much luck lately. Do you want me to read your fortune?"
Cana pulled out a deck of cards, using them to cover her face as she chuckled slyly.
"Ugh, fine. Since you're so set on it, I'll reluctantly play along...
But I'm warning you in advance— I don't believe in your fortune-telling at all!"
Laxus turned his head away, looking as though he was deeply reluctant, but because Cana was simply too enthusiastic, he grudgingly agreed.
"Let me see...
Whoa~
Laxus, you're really out of luck!
The cards show that if you go on an S-Class mission today, you'll have terrible luck!"
Cana spoke softly, following the guidance she had received from her card magic.
"Is that so?!"
Laxus, who had been looking down on her just a moment ago, immediately turned around, his expression filled with alarm.
"Um, I mean, I'm not feeling well today, so I'll skip the S-Class mission for now..."
Laxus said as he sat up from the floor and walked straight toward the guild's exit. As for the S-Class mission in his hand, it had already been snatched by Erza and re-posted on the S-Class quest board on the second floor.
"Hehehe..."
Cana watched as Laxus, who was feigning nonchalance but was clearly panicked, hurried away. She covered her mouth with a card and giggled quietly.
After the boy left, it was Macao, his pockets bulging with earnings, who was now taunting Wakaba relentlessly.
"Hahaha, what did I tell you?! When it comes to gambling, I'm a pro!"
"What’re you so smug about?! You just got lucky, you jerk..."
Wakaba's face twisted in frustration. Seeing Macao rake in the cash was more painful to him than if he had been killed.
"It's a bit noisy here~ I can't concentrate on picking a quest..."
In front of the regular quest board stood Erza, who had sustained some minor scrapes in her fight with Laxus. Her eyes darted rapidly across the posted quests, searching for one that suited her.
"This quest seems perfect for me."
After a moment, Erza picked up a quest sheet offering rare armor as a reward upon completion while muttering to herself.
A few days later...
Evan had already stepped off the train with his backpack as he faced a vast, snow-covered mountain range ahead of him.
"Next, I'll have to keep heading northeast!
The air’s getting colder too..."
Evan looked at the map in his hand and muttered to himself.
The Kingdom of Fiore, home to Fairy Tail, was located in the southwest of the Ishgar Continent, directly facing the Western Continent. As such, should the Alvarez Empire launch an attack on Ishgar, Fairy Tail in the Kingdom of Fiore would be the first to bear the brunt of it...
Meanwhile, Deliora lived in the colder northeastern part of Ishgar, which was already outside the Kingdom of Fiore's sphere of influence.
"Huff..."
Evan exhaled a puff of white breath and, following the map in his hand, set off toward the pitch-black mountain range. From here on out, there would no longer be any convenient means of transportation like trains.
As night fell...
Just as the last train arrived at Moné, a coastal city to the northeast, a short, elderly man leaped off the train. He closed his eyes, sensing the magic flowing through the air, and wore a look of resignation.
"Was I still too late? Damn it, doesn't that brat Evan need to rest at all?!"
This short old man was none other than Makarov, the Guild Master of Fairy Tail, who had been chasing after Evan. He had originally intended to intercept the boy earlier, but Evan was moving too fast— he had been transferring between trains with virtually no gaps. It was clear that before setting out, he had already studied the train schedule and chosen the optimal route.
"It's too late. There's no catching up to him now. I'd better get some rest..."
With that thought, Makarov checked into a nearby inn.
Meanwhile, Evan continued onward. The Zoan-type Fish-Fish Fruit, Mythical Beast Model, Azure Dragon granted him immense physical and mental strength, allowing him to go five days without sleep without feeling the slightest bit of fatigue. If it weren't for his fear of encountering Deliora in poor condition and letting the demon escape, he would have simply chosen to fly at full speed to find it...
Two weeks later...
In a vast, endless expanse of pale, snow-capped mountains, a young boy lay sprawled out on the snow. He looked somewhat disheveled, as if he had just been in a fight with something, and was now fast asleep, overcome by exhaustion.
"Roar~"
Before long, a massive white bear — one that seemed on the verge of blending into the surroundings — detected the scent of the sleeping boy lying in the snow. Without a moment's hesitation, the bear opened its gaping maw, ready to sink its teeth into the boy’s flesh.
"Ah?!"
Just as the bear opened its jaws, the boy's eyes snapped open.
"What’re you doing?!"
The boy stared at the bear’s gaping maw while furrowing his brow. For a moment, a crimson glow — accompanied by an overwhelming aura — seemed to burst forth from his eyes.
"Ugh..."
The colossal bear that was standing nearly five meters tall showed a look of fear the moment it saw the boy's open eyes. Beads of sweat kept trickling down from around its nose and lips.
In an instant, the boy's appearance in the bear's eyes underwent a dramatic transformation. To the bear, the boy was no longer a tiny child, but a terrifying divine dragon hundreds of meters long — with its dragon head alone being as large as a small house — opening its blood-red maw wide enough to swallow it whole, and roaring incessantly!
It felt a fear born of its primal instincts! It caused the giant bear to roll over immediately, lying on its back like a puppy with its tongue hanging out, and wearing a pleading expression.
"Good boy!"
The boy gently stroked the giant bear's head, then he took a piece of charcoal out of his pocket and held it up to the bear's nose.
"Sniff, sniff~"
The giant bear seemed to understand the boy's intention. It sniffed the charcoal vigorously, then it stood up and adjusted its direction.
"Let's go!"
The boy leaped lightly onto the bear's back and gave its massive head a gentle pat.
"Roar~"
The giant bear, like a delighted husky, set off in the direction where the scent left by the piece of charcoal the boy had let it smell was strongest.
As for the boy riding the giant bear, he was none other than Evan, who had been tracking Deliora across nearly the entire northern continent of Ishgar.
In a city in the north, perpetually shrouded in ice and snow...
A beautiful woman with short jet-black hair, delicate features, and a curvaceous figure stood in her underwear while practicing ice-shaping magic amidst the icy landscape.
Behind her were two boys, appearing to be around eight or nine years old, also only wearing their underwear as they practiced ice magic alongside her.
The three seemed oblivious to the biting cold, letting the icy wind lash against their bodies without them feeling the slightest discomfort…
A few hours later, after the three had finished their training...
A boy with short black hair sat in the vast expanse of white snow while looking at the beautiful woman and said.
"Ur, I've tracked down Deliora's whereabouts. I'm going to find him and take my revenge!"
Thud!
Upon hearing this, the beautiful woman punched the boy in the head and shouted angrily.
"You fool! You’re still too weak to stand against Deliora. You want to take revenge on it? Wait until you've defeated me first!"
"Ur, I'm already very strong!"
The boy stared defiantly at the beautiful woman, his eyes blazing with fury. Deliora had destroyed his town and killed his parents. He harbored a blood feud against the demon.
"No, absolutely not!"
The beautiful woman spoke, cutting off the boy before he could say another word. She picked up her clothes from the ground and dressed herself, intending to go into town to buy some treats for her two apprentices.
Several minutes later, after the beautiful woman had walked away...
"Damn it..."
The boy clutched his head, tears glistening in his eyes.
"Gray, calm down…
Ur’s only doing this for our own good!"
Beside the black-haired boy stood a youth with short white hair who appeared slightly older than the other. He spoke softly, trying to reason with his fellow apprentice.
"Lyon, you don't understand anything...
Even without Ur's help, I can take down Deliora all by myself!"
The black-haired boy named Gray shoved aside Lyon, the white-haired boy who was trying to reason with him, and sprinted off at full speed toward the direction where he had heard Deliora was lurking.
"Gray...
This is bad. I have to tell Ur about this..."
Lyon watched Gray sprinting away at full speed, his eyes filled with anxiety. After a moment's thought, he decided to head down the mountain to find Ur.
"Hey, can you give me a better price?"
"This is already the lowest price I can offer, you know?"
"This is really a bit of a problem..."
In town, Ur was haggling with a fruit vendor. While there was no shortage of fish or meat here, since the area was perpetually covered in ice and snow, fresh fruits and vegetables were scarce. These were shipped in from the warm south, and by the time they reached here, they were exorbitantly priced.
"Ur! It's bad news— Gray has gone to find Deliora!"
Just as Ur was pondering on how to lower the price of her purchase, Lyon's voice suddenly rang out from the distance.
"What?!"
Her eyes widened in panic at the news, and she furrowed her brow.
"Gray, that idiot!
Lyon, you stay here!
I'm going to find Gray..."
With that, Ur tossed the food that she had just bought — which she had been holding in her arms — to Lyon, then ran frantically toward the town where Deliora was rumored to be passing through.
Meanwhile...
Evan, who was riding a white bear, had also arrived near the town where Deliora was located...

T/N - I'm sorry to say this, but due to my busy schedule recently, I'll be putting this translation on hiatus. It hasn't been partucularly popular and no one wants to support it, so now that I'm currently busy with real life stuff, I can no longer continue translating this for now. Maybe if enough people want me to continue, I'll do so later on. But for now, sorry. (6/17/2026)
Gray finally gets introduced along with Ur and Lyon. I look forward to their whole family, Gray, Lyon, Ur, and Ultear, ending up in Fairy Tail. Because in these Fairy Tail fanfics, once you save Ur, you’re bound to save Ultear as well.
