Cafe Internet Broadcasting 4
The viewers harbored their doubts about the Good and Evil Detector, but once they heard it had actually caught someone, amazement swept through the chat.
Na Sujeong knew the machine was real — Liria and Silvia had come from another world, after all — but having a whole livestream call her a good person still made her flush with embarrassment.
The moment Silvia started her race, the chat went quiet. Everyone seemed to lock in on her gameplay. Even a customer who'd been waiting for their coffee never noticed their turn had come, too glued to the YouTube stream to look away.
Liria noticed that Silvia's racing line was subtly different from the record holder's. And given that she was pulling ahead of first place, it seemed Silvia had found the optimal route all on her own.
The viewers were so locked in that the most anyone managed was a handful of clipped messages.
Silvia took first place with a time far faster than the previous record — a staggering five seconds ahead, an utterly dominant victory. Liria was as overjoyed as if the win were her own, and immediately threw herself into Silvia's arms. Silvia held her tight, looking thoroughly pleased.
"She's right, you know. You did take first on a laptop."
"What's wrong with a laptop?"
"Laptop keyboards are a bit more awkward than a regular one. That's why the viewers are even more impressed."
"Silvia unnie is most magnificent."
Liria said it with unmistakable pride. Silvia was family to her — as dear as anyone could be — and seeing her recognized here on Earth filled Liria with a joy so complete it felt like her own success. Silvia hadn't even used mana, and she was still this good.
"Our Liria is adorable, isn't she?"
Word that Silvia had taken first on the hardest track spread through the kart racing community, and the viewer count began to climb. In no time at all, it had already broken a thousand. Posts about a beautiful girl pro gamer were flooding every community board, and the audience swelled almost instantly.
"We'll be uploading the video to YouTube, so if you subscribe, you'll be able to watch it later."
"I'm Na Sujeong. You can call me Na Sujeong, or Sujeong — whatever you like."
Only then did the viewers learn her name. The Elf Cafe community had no information on Na Sujeong, so none of the viewers had known anything about her. Even the customers who knew she was a blue light had never learned her name, and could only call her the blue-light girl.
"Looks like nobody here came over from my YouTube channel. Hehe."
Viewers who'd been curious about the Elf Cafe found themselves taking an interest in the videos on Na Sujeong's channel as well. She was so grateful to Liria for bringing people to her YouTube that she could hardly put it into words.
"Thank you, Liria."
"Think nothing of it."
"Still, we should start running the Elf Cafe YouTube in earnest now."
Na Sujeong no longer had any intention of keeping her own channel going. She believed, without a shred of doubt, that Liria and Silvia's YouTube would become the greatest channel there was. A desire had taken root in her — to grow their channel into the best in the world as their editor. Someday she wanted to put together an editing team and see that goal through.
"Ah, that's right — there was a reaction speed test."
If they had a reaction speed test, Na Sujeong thought, they could make a real impression on the viewers. A dragon would surely produce a reaction speed that transcended anything human, and people would lose their minds calling it fake, calling it rigged, saying every word under the sun. And when it comes out later that it wasn't rigged at all — how huge would the impact be?
Na Sujeong's heart began to pound.
"What's a reaction speed test?"
"There's a website that measures how fast your reactions are. You do it five times and get an average."
"I see."
"The human average is supposed to be 0.3 seconds, but I think Silvia-nim will be faster than even 0.1."
"Want to give it a try? How about you, Liria?"
"Liria wishes to see it too."
With Na Sujeong's help, they pulled up the reaction speed test site. The test itself was extremely simple.
"The way it works is easy. You press the start button here and it turns red — then when it turns green, you press it again."
"I press with this?"
"Yes."
Silvia rested the mouse over the button just as Na Sujeong had said, and clicked once. The button went red — and the instant it flashed green, she clicked again.
The record that came up was 50ms.
Of course, Silvia had pressed it at a leisurely pace. The viewers had no way of knowing that.
At some point, the viewers had started calling her Silvia-nim as a mark of respect. Between her stunning looks, her overwhelming skill, and her sheer charisma, they simply wanted to use honorifics.
Silvia kept clicking the button at a leisurely pace, and just like that, all five attempts were done.
Average Speed: 48ms
Register this record on the ranking?
When the ranking window appeared, Silvia entered her name in Korean. The chat exploded. Message after message poured in, all of them some variation of this can't be real.
"So 48ms is 0.05 seconds. Is 0.05 seconds fast?"
"Yes. It's faster than the human limit."
"Is that so? I thought I was taking my time. I suppose that's fast for humans."
Silvia hadn't put her heart into clicking that button, and Liria knew it. She found herself wishing Silvia would take the test seriously.
"Liria also believes Silvia unnie was not giving her all."
"You want me to take this seriously, Liria?"
"Yes, Silvia unnie."
"Well, even if the humans find out who we really are, it wouldn't be a problem. Fine — I'll give it everything I've got."
"Yes, Silvia unnie. Liria shall cheer you on. But you mustn't use mana."
"Alright."
Liria wanted to see Silvia's serious mode. This wasn't a fun little game like kart racing, so she knew Silvia had been clicking halfheartedly. If she gave it her all, Liria expected a speed in a completely different dimension from 0.05 seconds.
The viewers' reaction was the same across the board: 0.05 seconds already defied belief. How could anything be faster than that?
At Liria's request, Silvia began the test in earnest, concentrating properly this time.
