Dungeon & Commander (20)
“……”
Yoo Min-jeong was at a complete loss for words.
“Not out of curiosity, I hope. You didn’t seriously think you could take down a Nuclataurus with just a few fire arrows, did you?”
“I, I…”
Yoo Min-jeong couldn’t find the words to continue.
“Or did you lose all reason facing a Nuclataurus for the first time in your life? Either way, that’s failing as a team leader. Surely you know a leader responsible for their team must be cooler-headed than anyone else.”
“…I know.”
Yoo Min-jeong bowed her head.
Go Cheolmin turned a piercing glare on Choi Muhyun.
Sparks seemed to fly from their eyes. Choi Muhyun’s face was still flushed bright red.
“Scared?”
“…Master.”
“If you can’t surpass the Nuclataurus etched in your memories, you don’t set foot in a dungeon.”
“……”
Choi Muhyun knew full well he was right.
A tanker who acted like this inside a dungeon would get the whole team wiped out.
Go Cheolmin now shifted his gaze to Yeom Sang-taek.
“And you?”
“…I’m sorry.”
“Don’t beg forgiveness so lightly. Because you look weak? Why’d you freeze up like that?”
“T-that’s…”
“You’ve got a vivid imagination. It’s your greatest strength—and your worst flaw. When you’re pumped, you can buff anything you set your mind to. But when fear hits, you’re paralyzed. Why? Because you blow it all out of proportion in your head.”
Go Cheolmin’s critique hit the nail on the head.
Yeom Sang-taek could barely stand straight. Every word felt like it was drilling into his body.
Finally, Go Cheolmin turned to Kim Jun.
His icy expression softened like spring breeze on frozen ground.
“You overcame it.”
“…Not perfectly.”
“That’s as perfect as it gets. You surprised me back then—and you’re doing it again now. The survivors from the Socrates team called it a miracle you pulled off. I agree. Good work today. You exceeded every expectation I had.”
The master extended his hand. A down-low five.
Yoo Min-jeong, Choi Muhyun, and even Yeom Sang-taek stared in stunned silence.
“Thank you.”
Kim Jun slapped it lightly.
Yoo Min-jeong watched the two men in wordless silence.
