I Am the Law! I Am the Truth!
“No!!” Si Ruo Qing’s eyes suddenly widened in horror.
The next instant, a blade flashed through the air…
Blood sprayed everywhere.
An arm clutching an axe thudded to the ground.
The scarred man stared in disbelief at his severed limb, then whipped his head around. A figure had appeared silently behind him.
“Ah!!! Urk!” The scarred man’s scream cut off abruptly as blood gushed out and his head hit the floor.
“Y-you! How the hell are you still alive?!” Zhou Zhengyu and the other thugs stared in terror at Xiao Yi’s reappearance, their weapon hands trembling uncontrollably. “What the fuck are you?!”
Xiao Yi eyed them coldly, saying nothing as he hefted his Sin Blade and advanced slowly toward Zhou Zhengyu.
The thugs gripped their weapons and huddled together.
“Brothers! He’s just one guy! No way he beats all of us!” Zhou Zhengyu’s face twisted into a savage snarl. “Kill him, and all these women and supplies are ours!”
“Yeah! Brothers! One man against all of us—two fists can’t beat four hands, and we’ve got way more! Rush him together and take this bastard down!” another thug bellowed with equal ferocity.
“Young man, you shouldn’t have come back. There’s too many of them—we can’t win,” a despairing young housewife said to Si Ruo Qing.
“Xiao Yi! Be careful—he’s got a crossbow!” Si Ruo Qing shouted in warning.
But Xiao Yi acted as if he hadn’t heard a word, striding steadily toward Zhou Zhengyu and his crew.
“You fucker! Stand the fuck still!” Zhou Zhengyu raised his crossbow with shaking hands, bellowing at Xiao Yi. “One more step and I’ll shoot your ass…”
Before he could finish, Xiao Yi exploded forward in a blur.
Squelch! Zhou Zhengyu didn’t even have time to scream before Xiao Yi cleaved him in two.
Blood splattered across Xiao Yi’s face, making him look even more terrifying.
“We surrender! We surrender!” One thug, piss-soaked in terror, dropped his weapon and kowtowed desperately before Xiao Yi.
The others gave up too, collapsing to their knees and begging piteously.
“Please spare us! We’ll be your slaves!”
“Knife-Scar and Zhou Zhengyu forced us into this! We’ll turn over a new leaf and follow you!”
“We’ll scavenge food! We’ll be your dogs! Please let us live!”
“Bro! It’s the end times—survivors are rare. We’re all human; we should help each other! You can’t just slaughter innocents like this!”
Xiao Yi looked down at them sidelong. Some professed loyalty and played pitiful to tug at his heartstrings.
Others spouted grand principles, hoping he’d spare them for the sake of fellow survivors.
“Xiao Yi, the ringleaders are dead. These are just accomplices. By national law, they don’t deserve death—they barely did anything. Maybe let them go and fend for themselves?” Si Ruo Qing frowned as she stepped up beside him, her voice tinged with reluctance.
“Survivors are few now. For humanity’s future…”
Before she could finish, Xiao Yi swung his blade down on the kneeling thugs.
Nine heads rolled in unison, blood splashing across Si Ruo Qing’s face.
Xiao Yi turned to her, his voice ice-cold. “National law? What fucking law? Who enforces it—you?”
He sneered and approached a few middle-aged men who hadn’t joined the riot.
The short one leading them scrambled forward on his knees, nodding and bowing frantically. “Benefactor! I didn’t join the riot! I’m a good citizen—I even tried to talk them out of it! Please spare us!”
The other two crawled up too, pleading bitterly. “Benefactor! We were forced! We didn’t take part! We’ll follow you and Officer Si! We’ll work for you!”
Xiao Yi’s blade flashed. Three more heads tumbled to the ground.
“This is the end times! No laws. No principles. If there are any, my word is the law. My actions are the truth!”
He turned to Si Ruo Qing. “I want you to get this straight—that’s the most important fucking lesson for surviving this apocalypse. Burn it into your mind.”
Si Ruo Qing stared at him in a daze, her face draining to ghostly white, eyes swirling with complex emotions.
At that moment, the women Xiao Yi had just rescued scrambled to their feet and clustered around him, gazing up in adoration.
“Big brother! You’re so awesome! All those zombies, and you wiped them out like it was nothing! Can you teach us how to kill zombies?” The loli sisters pressed forward in worshipful awe, their eyes shining with pure admiration as they spoke in unison.
