Starlight Generation 1's Explosive Debut!
Our relay debut stream, kicked off by the President's raid, started with around five thousand viewers. This in itself was absolutely massive. From the perspective of VTubers struggling down in the double digits, it was a start that could easily spark jealousy.
"Hello, everyone! I'm Miho, a member of Starlight's first generation! Nice to meet you! Yoroshiku ne~!"
Seowoo's stream was met with overwhelming praise across almost every community. Along with her unique, bubbly charm and her appeal of being quadrilingual, Seowoo's avatar itself received a ton of compliments. Her avatar was crafted by Muromachi-san, one of the top avatar artisans in Japan, and took the form of a fox beastkin. A three-tailed gumiho with long, straight magenta hair.
Seowoo's live name was the highly intuitive 'Miho.' Her roleplay lore was that of a baby fox who had worked tirelessly for the past nine years to become a nine-tailed fox, but ultimately failed. It was a narrative of a spiritual beast who chased the starlight of Starlight to become a true gumiho. Her default outfit consisted of a white T-shirt and short shorts that put her thighs on full display. It gave off a vibe of, 'Wait, the girl next door is actually a gumiho?!'
Seowoo actively utilized her strangely alluring avatar to act cute in her 'Liver Room,' and the viewers watching her aegyo were practically dropping dead from heart attacks. A Liver Room is a streaming space implemented in a virtual world. It's essentially a 3D version of the background that 2D VTubers usually set behind them. Just creating one of these Liver Rooms easily costs several thousand dollars. It's practically equivalent to the cost of installing a soundproof booth.
Smiling brightly while striking various poses on the sofa placed in her Liver Room, Miho truly looked like a real fox. So sly! It was the kind of cute charm that would be incredibly difficult for me to copy. I was so envious. I was incredibly jealous of Seowoo's talent for brewing simps! Her feminine charm was just too high for me to keep up with.
Come to think of it, I remembered that I had started learning how to apply makeup from Seowoo last month. If it weren't for her, I'd probably still be walking around bare-faced in a tracksuit. At any rate, Seowoo's debut was a massive success. She hit ten thousand Twitter followers at the exact same time her debut stream ended.
Jihae Eonni was also a huge hit.
Jihae Eonni's roleplay lore was a baby bird who failed to become a phoenix, named 'Nina,' with an age setting of three hundred years. Her avatar's appearance featured short orange hair with a bird feather pinned as an ornament. Unlike Miho, who was quite busty, Nina gave off a very strong impression of a loli character overall. Wearing a neat school uniform, she was the kind of character where you'd definitely be called a lolicon if you liked her, but because her lore made her three hundred years old, she felt like a 'loli-hag' or a 'mesgaki' that was perfectly fine to like.
In any case, she was just as pretty and charming as Seowoo. On top of that, Jihae Eonni's characteristic gentle tone, combined with her witty banter where she subtly said everything she wanted to say while teasing her audience, perfectly captured the vibe of a true loli-hag. The communities reacted very positively, celebrating the arrival of a loli-hag character after a long drought. Of course, some people had already dug up Jihae Eonni's past streaming history, teasing her for being on her 'fourth reincarnation,' but since she received so much praise for her gentle, pleasant voice, she looked quite satisfied.
Both Seowoo and Jihae Eonni are doing so well on their debut streams without even shaking. Thank goodness I took that herbal sedative. Otherwise, I would have been trembling like a leaf.
I was deeply impressed by the two of them, showing off their charms so effortlessly without a hint of nervousness. It made me want to cheer them on. As expected, VTubers have a charm that naturally makes you want to support them. I hoped I possessed that kind of charm too.
"Well then, see you all soon~! Take care!"
As her time drew to a close, Jihae Eonni delivered her sign-off message, promising to see them next time. Now, it was my turn. The viewer count was still holding strong at around five thousand. Everyone entered my room with eyes full of anticipation. Since the first two had been incredibly charming, I, as the final act, was carrying the full weight of their expectations.
Whoa! The chat is moving way too fast.
With five thousand people typing all at once, the chat was surging upward like a flooded river. I couldn't read it. It was making me dizzy.
Perhaps this was a real audition. If I couldn't show off my talent today, there was a high chance that less than a hundred of these people would remain. They hadn't gathered solely to see me; they were just guests who had dropped by out of curiosity. A transient population that could vanish at any moment. An illusion that would disappear entirely if I couldn't grab hold of them and make them fall in love with me. I had to turn them into regulars. I had to win them over with my first impression alone.
Let's show them. Who I am.
I cleared the waiting screen and stepped out. Now, they would be able to see me too. An imugi—a serpent—with blue hair and bright blue eyes. Slit pupils and a tongue that split at the tip. My outfit was a unique blend of a sailor uniform and casual wear. It was beautiful. In terms of the avatar alone, I didn't fall behind Seowoo or Jihae Eonni at all. I just had to show them who I was through this gorgeous avatar. Right, let's start with a proper greeting.
"Hello, everyone! I'm Riu, making my debut as part of Starlight's first generation! It's a pleasure to meet you!"
I shouted energetically, giving them a powerful greeting. Since it was our first meeting, a headstand bow seemed like the perfect choice. Not knowing how to start the conversation, I impulsively performed an unplanned headstand bow and glanced at the chat. The reaction was...
Mr. Homeless:?
HachuChief:What is this lololol
WhatThe:?
CoffinGamer:Did she just do a headstand bow?
GameJa:Hardcore right from the start lmao
GrandmaCartStealerTaco:First time seeing someone do a headstand bow in a debut stream
UltimateVTuberWhatshisname:?
MelonSichi:Are you perhaps a former athlete?
2Am:Her physical stats are insane lololol
PetMonkey:Wait, what theeee
DankaengOnly:Where on earth did Jeong Hari find kids like this?
lfskdkdk:SPECIAL GRADE RIU
The reaction was explosive.
In a regular streaming Liver Room, unlike a game world, the avatar can only replicate movements that are physically possible in reality. This meant that my headstand bow on screen was proof that I could actually do a headstand bow in real life. In short, it proved I had the physical capability to pull off a headstand bow without any preparation!
"Hahaha! I'm a bit embarrassed because the reaction is so much better than I expected. Well then, let me briefly introduce myself! I've prepared a slideshow to show you all. Shall we take a look together?"
It was a great start. Everyone was laughing. Thanks to that, my tension eased slightly, and the words began to flow naturally. I could proceed with the debut stream exactly as scripted.
The headstand bow worked wonders.
I was a little worried I might end up branded as a pure clown, but isn't it much better to be seen as an eccentric, entertaining person rather than being labeled boring on your debut? I could always adjust my image later. For now, I had to grab their attention. Buzz was everything to a streamer, after all.
I've introduced my MBTI. My blood type and roleplay lore are done too.
By the time I finished my self-introduction, forty minutes had already flown by. Now, in the remaining twenty minutes, I had to completely brew these viewers into my dedicated simps.
"Now that the self-introduction is over, I'll show you the talent I'm most confident in."
JiHyunZone:Yes!
OnlySinging:I've been waiting for this the whole time lol
Hummingbird:*thump-thump*
Mr. Homeless:Upvote if you've been waiting for the singing
Rkakrnl:Upvoted lol
ThreeSlicesOfBread:Upvoted
SkaSka:Looking forward to it! Fighting!
HeniyuSimp:Let's goooo
ChuchuHarika:Is something big coming?
AxeFlavoredCandy:Do you take song requests?
DankaengOnly:I heard she's the main vocalist pick
zksskdml:Give me the glowsticks
The chat was burning up. It seemed everyone already knew I was the vocal pick. Well, the President had probably been hyping me up all over the place. It was highly likely that some information about us had already leaked.
For now, I decided not to worry about anything else and just prepare for the song. My heart was pounding so hard I was worried I might make a mistake, so I took a deep breath.
Inhale. Exhale.
Good. I was completely prepared. All that was left was to step forward.
"Well then, I'll sing. My first song is..."
The very first song was 'Princess Train.' I knew it. It was a Japanese song, and since it was a Vocaloid track, many people might not know it. Yet, there was a specific reason I chose this as my first song.
Because if I pull it off, it'll be absolutely mind-blowing.
Vocaloid songs are tracks originally made for virtual synthesizers. True to their nature as machine-made songs, their difficulty is incredibly high. But as difficult as they are, if you can pull them off flawlessly...
Is there any song more exhilarating?
The intro began to play.
GrapeJuice:She's doing this?
OnlySinging:Whoa!! (Don't know what it is)
ShiningStar:Kyaaaaaaaa
CeilingPiercingKim:Going straight in without even warming up her voice
GuruGuruMeguru:Let's goooooo
RestaurantClosed:What song is this?
ChuchuHarika:Kyaaaaa
SuperSweet:Kyaaaa
dytlRoddl:Is she about to show us?
Mr. Homeless:This is insanely hard right from the start, can she pull it off?
As the intro started, the cheers of those who recognized the song began to flood the chat. There were also those who doubted me. They didn't know yet. They didn't know my true skill. Hence, the conflicting reactions.
Looking at their reactions, I began to sing.
You doubt me? I'll turn every single one of those skeptical glances into roars of adoration.
2Am:Whoa, what theeee
PetMonkey:Kyaaa
DankaengOnly:Wow
lfskdkdk:SPECIAL GRADE RIU
GrapeJuice:Insane!
OnlySinging:First time seeing someone sing this song so well
ShiningStar:Kyaaaaaaaa
CeilingPiercingKim:Tension is rising!
GuruGuruMeguru:Mind-blowing
RestaurantClosed:No idea what song this is, but it's absolutely insane
ChuchuHarika:Kyaaaaa
SuperSweet:Kyaaaa
dytlRoddl:What is this!
Mr. Homeless:Wow
OnlySinging:Kyaaaaaaaa
HeniyuSimp:I'm a Riu simp starting today
ChuchuHarika:Something big just landed
DankaengOnly:She really is the vocal pick
zksskdml:Holy
The President's custom glowstick subscription emotes flooded the screen, and the chat was completely painted with 'Kyaaa.' Not a single person doubted me anymore.
This is me. This is me, Riu.
The only reason you'll ever need to love me.
I always prove myself. Just watch, because my story is only beginning.
