A Peaceful Epilogue?
My memories of my past life have returned.
Heart-fluttering Stormy Harem Transfer Student.
This was the world where I had been reborn after dying from a meteor strike while walking down the street.
To be precise, I had been living a perfectly fine life without knowing anything, and then suddenly, my past life's memories just flooded back.
In this life, my name is Rofel of the Count Teufel family. Put together, Rofel Teufel.
I was an extra who didn't appear as a helper or a villain in the game. To be more precise, my name was never even mentioned.
Hm? Am I unhappy about being born as a character with zero relevance to the plot?
Not at all.
Surprisingly, the game Heart-fluttering Stormy Harem Transfer Student is about the protagonist saving the world.
It might sound a bit cliché, but the main plot revolves around the protagonist enrolling in Dandelion Academy in the capital, getting caught up in various incidents, discovering the mastermind behind it all, and saving the world by stopping them.
In that sense, it is an absolute blessing that I am neither the protagonist nor one of his close companions.
They say with great power comes great responsibility.
Conversely, that means if you don't have great power, you don't have great responsibility either.
Not only do I not have to risk my one and only precious life, but I also don't have to be crushed by an immense sense of duty and pressure.
Although we are just nominal nobles located on the frontier—or rather, precisely because of that—I can live comfortably without a single care in the world.
Well... talking about this now is actually meaningless anyway.
That's because the protagonist has already saved the world. Even before I regained my past memories.
He successfully handled the terrorist attack by the black mages when he first entered the academy.
He played a major role in arresting the human trafficking ring that was kidnapping students.
Furthermore, he subdued the assassination guild targeting the imperial princess who enrolled in the academy, and even exposed the crown prince as the mastermind behind it.
On top of that, he resolved all kinds of incidents, big and small, from student bullying to an undead invasion led by necromancers.
One by one, he struck down the scenarios leading to ruin, ultimately saving the world and becoming the hero of the academy.
He truly is an impressive figure. So much so that I suspect someone else, not me, possessed or reincarnated into the protagonist.
Anyway, thanks to the protagonist progressing through the scenario and resolving all the incidents on his own, I was able to enjoy a comfortable academy life up until now, even without my past memories.
Knock, knock, knock.
"Young Master? May I enter?"
"...Ah! Yes, come in."
"Excuse me, Young Master. I came to check on you because breakfast is approaching, but you have not yet come out."
"Right, I was just about to head out anyway."
"Understood. Then... I shall take my leave."
The maid closed the door and left.
I must have spent too much time lost in thought after regaining my memories.
After tidying up my clothes, I headed to the dining room.
"You're a bit late today, aren't you, Brother?"
My younger sister, Sera Teufel, born to my father's second wife, was already eating.
She had the same black hair as me, but inherited her mother's blue eyes.
Though she was a bit cheeky, Sera was my one and only younger sister, and she had her own cute side.
"It's nothing... Hm? Where did Father go?"
"The master had urgent business to attend to, so he is currently in his office."
Charles, the elderly head butler, answered in his stead.
"You know how noisy the academy has been lately, right? Father seems quite exhausted because of it. I assume you wouldn't be ignorant of it, Brother, considering you're about to graduate soon."
Sera added coyly.
It was true that the academy had been in an uproar lately.
This was because they were pouring immense effort into reinforcing facilities and expanding security to strengthen the academy's safety.
It was only natural, since there hadn't been a single quiet day since the protagonist enrolled.
For three consecutive years, the academy had been rocked by problems big and small.
It was no wonder the public worried that something else might happen at the academy again this year.
Well, honestly, I thought it would be fine.
If I recalled the original game's plot, all the dangerous and unpleasant incidents ended in the third year.
The remaining fourth year was mostly a healing story filled with all kinds of fan service as a reward for the player's hard work.
But... what did the academy being in an uproar have to do with Father's workload increasing?
Surely the academy wouldn't ask a frontier noble like us for help.
After all, our Count family had nothing special about us, except for a slight talent in magic.
We didn't have any local specialties or special facilities in our territory.
We were just the most common type of nobles, simply inheriting what our ancestors left behind.
Pondering these questions, I finished the plate in front of me.
"Young Master? The master said he would like to speak with you briefly after you finish your meal."
"Father? Hm... Alright."
"The master is currently waiting in his office."
"Whew... You're here, Rofel."
My father and the current head of the Teufel family, Henry Teufel, leaned back in his chair, looking exhausted.
His eyes and beard looked droopy, as if he hadn't slept well since yesterday.
"Yes, Father."
"I called you because I have something to discuss regarding the academy."
"Are you talking about me returning to the academy after the break ends?"
"No, it's something more important than that."
Hm? If my memory served me right, I didn't have my past life's memories during my three years at the academy.
So I had lived a life that was slightly above average, neither outstanding nor lagging behind. Why would there be important news about the academy for someone as ordinary as me?
"...By any chance, are you having girl trouble at the academy?"
"...Excuse me? What do you mean by that?"
"Like, being in relationships with multiple girls at the academy... or, well, it's not unusual for someone your age, but... playing around with your thing carelessly, that sort of thing."
"What... No, no, no! What on earth are you talking about?! I've never even had a girlfriend during my time at the academy. Sure, I've been confessed to a few times by other students, but I rejected them all."
"Hmm... Is that so... I see."
"...Did you call me here just to ask that?"
"Yes. Actually, I received letters with similar inquiries from the academy, as well as from other noble families. The contents were so absurd that I called you."
"What did they say to make you react like this?"
"They were asking about your relationships with women."
"Since I'm graduating from the academy soon, isn't it just about marriage proposals?"
"I thought so too at first. But if that were the case, there would be no reason for the academy to send a letter, would there? Besides, the letters from the noble families were just too... No, never mind. Thinking about it again is just making me tired. I'm sorry, but let's end the conversation here. Seeing your reaction, I can tell for sure that you don't have any girl trouble. I'll handle the replies myself."
"Pardon? But surely that's not enough. Since you're sending replies anyway, I can help you."
"That is exactly why I said I would handle it. In my experience, whenever you talk or write about these things, you always end up making people misunderstand in a weird way. You're my son, but with that face and the way you act, you look like a gigolo. It worries me."
I wanted to say more, but Father looked truly exhausted, so I decided to excuse myself and return to my room.
"...He certainly doesn't seem to be lying... Then what on earth are these letters...?"
Henry Teufel opened his drawer and looked at the various letters inside.
They were all letters asking about his son's relationships with women.
Up to this point, there was nothing strange. Rofel Teufel, though he was his own son, had a knack for charming women.
The boy himself seemed oblivious, but he had unconsciously attracted the favor of the women around him since childhood, so receiving such letters was not a first.
The problem was that these letters were sent from the academy, and even from a Duke's household, to a mere Count's family.
He had expected his son to face trouble with women eventually as he grew up, but...
He had an ominous feeling that things were about to spiral out of control.
"Man... I really hit the jackpot with this reincarnation."
To celebrate the return of my past memories, I looked into the full-length mirror in my room.
The first thing I was glad to see was my thick, albeit slightly curly, black hair.
In my past life, I had been balding.
And it was male pattern baldness in my twenties, no less.
On top of that, my face had been unattractive, so I had absolutely no luck with women.
But what about now?
Though I might look a bit dark and gloomy, I had become a handsome man with sharp, decadent eyes.
Thanks to this, even though we were just a frontier Count family, I had received plenty of advances from noble ladies solely based on my looks.
In fact, once I graduated from the academy, I was bound to receive quite a few marriage proposals.
And what about my body?
Looking at my physique, I thought that I might have had some faint, subconscious memories of my past life all along.
After all, my biggest complex in my past life was my sweaty, out-of-shape, chubby body, especially since I was terrible at sports.
Otherwise, there would have been no reason for me to train my body like a madman despite being a student in the magic department.
Indeed. Out of habit, I had never missed a single day of physical training up to this very day.
Thanks to that, I had broad shoulders, muscular arms, and a defined six-pack on my abdomen.
On top of that, my "third leg" was something I was prouder of than any other part of my body.
Suddenly, I felt incredibly proud of myself, and so glad that I had reincarnated.
Good job, self... Even without remembering your past life, you lived diligently, unlike back then...! No... it's not over yet. I have to keep living diligently in the future too!
Returning to the present, the protagonist had already reached the ending, leaving the world completely peaceful and free of danger.
According to my memories of the game, all of its endings were harem endings, but they were all happy endings nonetheless.
Great... Now, shall I officially begin my second life?
....
....
...Hm?
But now that I think about it, there's one thing that bothers me.
No matter what you do in this game, it always leads to a harem ending.
The funny thing is, even if you were to take a dump in the middle of the street, the affection levels of all the heroines would automatically spike once the third year ended.
But... if my memory serves me right, the protagonist of this world...
Hasn't ended up with anyone yet?
Hmm...
Hmm...!
Ah, well...
What's the worst that could happen?
