The Eternal Incantation
The memory of being kicked out of the Otherworld War like an illegal immigrant facing forced deportation, only to end up standing before Jinri like this, made his teeth grind on their own. ‘Grind—! It’s all because of those bastards.’ Of course, the official appointment letter and the roster of subordinates placed in his hands pleased him greatly. They were titles granted by Jinri; given enough time, even the pathetically weak Otherworld would have produced at least Main God rank beings. With hundreds of Main Gods and his own authority, twisting the Otherworld however he wished would be as easy as drinking cold porridge.
‘The titles are in slightly strange condition, but they’re properly activated. The listed personnel alone number in the hundreds. If I reinforce them with my Troop of Creation Gods, I can overwhelm every force in the Otherworld. It’s clearly a gain, yet because it comes from Jinri I feel extremely uneasy. And what does “handle the barrier” even mean? Destroy it? Or reinforce it?’
He had already confirmed the barrier’s nature when it bounced him away earlier. ‘It was a sealing ward preventing the bodies and authorities of beings from the Absolute Realm or the Main Universe from entering the Otherworld.’ From a distance it was difficult to analyze, but the moment contact was made it exerted its full power. ‘They have no real strength, yet they poured their heart and soul into it. The barrier completely isolates this planet from the Otherworld. Its perfection is almost too good to destroy, so what exactly am I supposed to do with it?’
A seal also meant protection. The desperate sealing barrier created by the gods of the Otherworld was, in another sense, the ultimate defensive wall for the Wind Family. It also prevented insignificant beings from the Otherworld from approaching. ‘I can’t quite grasp the meaning behind handing something like this over to me to “handle.”’
He sneaked a glance at Jinri, but the man’s face was nothing but smiles, making it impossible to read his true intentions. ‘I really cannot tell what you’re thinking.’ Moreover, the member of the Wind Family who had guided him had somehow moved to Jinri’s right side and was smiling as well, which put him even more on edge. The sound of Jinri clicking his tongue only heightened the tension.
‘Oh no—! Dimension…’
The moment he panicked at the rebuke and began to chant, his consciousness was blasted away.
WHAM—!KWAAAAAAAAANG—!
The Magic God of Dimensions, lightly struck by Jinri’s Sword of Ruin and Soul, let out the same tremendous roar he had heard many times upon entering the Wind Family and was sent flying backward once more.
THUUUUUD—!RUMBLE CRASH—!
The Magic God of Dimensions embedded in the wall could not endure the impact and flattened completely. Every bone and muscle had been shattered by the Sword of Ruin and Soul, causing his body to stretch out fully. Yet the wall, made of special material, did not even crack; it only trembled. Plop—! The paper-thin body naturally peeled away from the wall and settled slowly onto the ground. Because the blow had come from the Sword of Ruin and Soul, which possessed the authority of non-killing, he was still breathing, but the damage appeared terminal.
Nevertheless, Jinri and the Wind Family member beside him watched what came next with keen interest. As far as they knew of Origin, there was no way it would end here.
SHIIIIIIIIINE—!
A triangle appeared within the circle of light enveloping the paper-thin body, inflating it and restoring its three-dimensional form. Bones and muscles returned to their proper places as golden dimensional authority blazed forth, reviving his life force. Black pearl-like magic power flowed from his head, returning him to a state where he could fully wield both authority and magic.
The long-standing member of the Wind Family exhaled in admiration at the sight of the Magic God of Dimensions recovering after only a few breaths despite having been turned into paper by Jinri’s strike.
The old member of the Wind Family received Jinri’s sharp reply with a gentle smile.
In the early days of the Wind Family, while Jinri had been busy flattening the Absolute Realm and fighting, he had been occupied raising the newly born descendants, teaching them, and building forces. That was how the nickname “nanny” had come about. Naturally, no man wanted to be called nanny.
He even pointed at the ten descendants who had endured Jinri’s sparring until they lost consciousness and could not regain their senses, yet the reply that returned was ice-cold.
The interrogation was sharp, yet the answers flowed like a clear mountain stream.
Jinri’s voice rose as irritation crept in, yet unlike with others he could not simply beat the man. This was the only grandson who had followed him during the time when, after being falsely accused and driven from the Absolute Realm by the First Generation Ten Centers, he had wandered without destination or possessions. Even his son Yuil Yongsinje had chosen to protect his mother and clan rather than wander the harsh world together, yet this grandson alone had willingly become the enemy of the entire Absolute Realm. During his solo duel against the First Generation Ten Centers, the man had even chosen a political marriage and labored tremendously to build and maintain a force that would not fall short of the Absolute Realm.
‘His contribution to maintaining and advancing the family even while I was flattening the Absolute Realm is immeasurably great.’
That was why, once control over the Absolute Realm had been fully established, Jinri had handed all duties to the next generation and told him to rest. A problem had arisen. Having suffered too much from a young age, once he began to rest his personality had grown strange. His behavior had fit the situation so perfectly at the time that Jinri had left him alone, but it had gradually worsened.
‘He followed me from childhood and suffered so severely that once he found stability I let him loose, and he became completely uncontrollable. It would be a waste to leave him idle, yet it feels pitiful to put him to work. What should I do? It would be good if he could take charge of the 1,001st Main Universe in its early stages, but at this rate it seems difficult.’
His rank was 111th, immediately after Jinri at 109th and Yuil Yongsinje at 110th. Although he had almost no direct combat experience due to managing the household, he was strong enough not to lose to the Ten Centers.
‘Since he created most of the current Wind Family, his management and founding abilities are unquestionably the highest level. Yet he performs no work at all, simply playing by himself in a very relaxed manner or interfering with the children.’
Of course, once the Wind Family had firmly established itself, the founding generation became unnecessary. To smoothly transfer power to the next generation, who had been properly educated as the supreme ruling force, such a bystander attitude from long-lived descendants was required, but there were limits.
‘Still, if I were to beat him until he came to his senses, the memory of him carrying me on his back while I lay bloodied and collapsed from the combined attack of my adoptive father and father would surface, making it difficult.’
It was this very child who had carried the blood-soaked, fallen Jinri on his back and evaded the desperate pursuit of the First Generation Ten Centers and the entire Absolute Realm.
As Jinri remained silent, lost in memories from a very distant past, the grandson puffed out his chest and raised his voice.
The Sword of Ruin and Soul trembled as if it could no longer endure the endless stream of sophistry, asserting its presence.
Vrrrrrr—!
Covering his mouth with exaggerated flair, the old man spoke.
Watching his grandson stubbornly continue with lame jokes that never landed, Jinri felt his head begin to throb. The past merits of saving him and establishing the Absolute Realm, along with the sacrifices made for the Wind Family, prevented him from striking the man. He was about to speak when the Magic God of Dimensions groaned, rose to his feet, and shouted.
"Dimensional Net!"
⟨ Dimensional Net ⟩
The chant he had attempted before losing consciousness completed the instant his body finished recovering. Because his mind had not fully returned, the sound that emerged was indistinguishable between scream and incantation, yet the dimensional authority activated without fail.
SHAAAAAAAA—!
Wings of light spread from behind the Magic God of Dimensions with enough force to cover the sky and surged toward the barrier. The oldest member of the Wind Family watched the massively enlarged wings of light—ignoring the concept of space entirely—collide with the Otherworld’s barrier. He alternated his gaze between the sight and the Magic God of Dimensions, who had unleashed such authority despite still being out of his right mind, and exclaimed in admiration.
It was tremendous power for a Creator God of the Main Universe, but no matter how one looked at it, the display reached only the transcendental level at best. Seeing the Magic God of Dimensions continue additional chants with his mouth moving busily despite clearly incomplete consciousness, the old man reached a conclusion.
Seeing the Sword of Ruin and Soul raised above Jinri’s head, he hurriedly finished speaking. Jinri lowered the wooden sword once more. Still, unlike others who rampaged without any achievements, he could not strike him.
…….
Jinri felt a headache coming on as he pondered how to make this grandson regain the seriousness he had possessed in the past. Yet he did not wish to see him sacrifice himself again, disregarding his own feelings and position. ‘That is why I handed it over. Let us continue handing things over in the future.’
Considering the man’s long list of achievements, allowing him to enjoy small pleasures might truly be a small thing. Meaningless conversation with a grandson of such deep connection was not unpleasant, but work took precedence now. Thus Jinri turned his gaze toward the Dimensional Net colliding with the barrier.
