Cyber Witch-Hunt (3)
The Demon Lord Gallery was, as it had always been, the Demon Lord Gallery.
Targeted callouts and cyber witch-hunts overflowed across the boards, grotesque imagery was scrubbed in real time by moderators, and the Colosseum arena board buzzed with endless bloodshed and degenerate gambling. In that sense, it was an entirely ordinary day.
The only slight difference was that today's hottest drama happened to center on a 'forum newbie,' and the discourse burned somewhat hotter than usual. Otherwise, it was the exact same community as ever.
Of course, the recent atmosphere on the board had played a part in fanning the flames. Ever since the Pandemonium conference concluded and a massive batch of gallery users vanished overnight—an event officially termed the 'pruning and culling operation'—the majority of regulars had kept their heads down. Even when juicy drama emerged, people hesitated. No one wanted to risk retaliatory dimensional strikes from whoever was involved, nor did anyone fancy disappearing without a trace over a single careless troll comment. That primal dread lingered deep in the minds of countless Demon Lords.
Furthermore, the high-tier entities who either understood the pruning process or possessed enough raw power to ignore it actually preferred the quieter, tamer state of the forum. But this new drama was built differently.
While the posts didn't explicitly spell out a name in their titles, every active user who frequented the board knew precisely who was being dragged into the spotlight.
The newbie.
A supernova who had burst into the gallery just a few months ago, posting under the anonymous handle ㅇㅇ(111.432).
Those with a bit of intel knew this Demon Lord was far from formidable and hailed from a barren world where magic did not exist. Those with even deeper insider knowledge were aware that his name was Shin Soohyun, and that he was loosely affiliated with the Neutral Demon Lord faction. Yet, unlike those scattered fragments of classified intel, there was one glaring piece of information that literally everyone on the board could see: his dimensional IP—the 111-series.
Dimension IP 111.xxx could be interpreted in several ways. For starters, it was exceptionally rare—in fact, the only registered IP of its class across the entire gallery. More importantly, it meant that virtually no Demon Lord in existence, save for perhaps one or two terrifying anomalies on the site, could exert the slightest bit of physical influence over Dimension 111.
Conversely, that also meant the newbie had no way of touching any other dimension either.
In short, you could orchestrate forced witch-hunts, slander him, spam callout threads, and churn out toxic drama to your heart's content without having to worry about blowback. Retaliation was a bedtime story from five dimensions away. Endless, frictionless drama with absolute personal safety—where else could anyone find such magnificent entertainment?
And so, after a long drought, the snowball of forum drama began rolling down the mountain once again. Just as the entire board was gleefully roasting the newbie, a brand-new post went live.
It was authored by the very center of the storm.
Within seconds, clicks flooded in by the thousands.
Somehow I ended up becoming the main character of all this forum drama.
I was originally going to write a long, serious explanation, but someone gave me some advice. They told me that if a post drags on, forum addicts won't bother reading it anyway.
So I'm just going to throw a straight fastball.

It's me, you sons of bitches.
Can't a guy minding his own business ask for advice when a Hero literally drops out of the sky into his lap? For fuck's sake.
If you've got a problem with it, send a private message and stop burning down the damn board, you degenerate no-lifes.
Oh, and by the way? The Hero is a girl.
Too insolent to be an explanation, and far too arrogant to pass for an apology.
The post was more than enough to detonate the entire gallery.
"Haha."
A hollow laugh broke from my lips.
No, there was simply no other reaction to give. Anyone witnessing the state of the Demon Lord Gallery right now would have laughed out of sheer disbelief.
• [I Hate This World]
• [That guy I miss so damn much right now....jpg]
• [Chilling fact: The Heroes launched a retaliatory invasion literally 2 months ago]
• [Look at all these Hero sympathizers crawling out of the woodwork]
• [Throwing fresh firewood on the dying flames lol]
• [The newbie << Upvote if this alpha chad won your respect lmao]

Far from burning out, the drama had reignited with volcanic fury. Rather than entirely new discourse, it was closer to an escalated continuation of the witch-hunt that had run rampant at dawn.
The catalyst, unsurprisingly, was my so-called clarification post.
Sure, it had been a little aggressive, but that post was the hard-earned result of trial, error, and outside counsel. When I uploaded my very first attempt at an apology, anonymous users immediately buried it under a hail of downvotes and comments like 'Look at this dogshit writing,' forcing me to delete it within seconds. After consulting a few sympathetic regulars, I drafted the revision.
Slamming into the forum with zero brakes had yielded a truly explosive reception.
To sum up the comment section in a single phrase: an unhinged parade of absolute lunacy.
Some users demanded to know why I hadn't butchered the girl on the spot.
Other deranged degenerates interrogated me on why I hadn't jumped into bed with a female Hero yet.
And then there were the scholarly types, probing for data as if my life were a field study.
The comment section was a bubbling cauldron of chaos. But in truth, that wasn't the real problem. No matter how wildly out of line those remarks were, they were ultimately confined to the margins of a single thread. The genuine crisis lay with the gallery hardliners who had found their casus belli in my aggressive post. Armed with self-righteous justification, they began battering me with cold, hard facts.
Do these Demon Lords have goldfish brains? It hasn't even been two months since the Heroes invaded and slaughtered our kind, yet they've already wiped their memories clean.
Now look at them saying, 'Well, fraternizing with Heroes isn't technically against the rules, so what's the big deal?'
Literal Hero collaborators and race-traitors to the demon realm, fr.
ㅇㅇ(666.856): Who even colludes with Heroes in this day and age lol
↳ ㅇㅇ(666.749): (They actually exist)
ㅇㅇ(497.684): Hang out twice and you're dead lmao
Never Again War: Nice propaganda. We're talking about keeping professional duty and personal life separate, what the hell Do you really think Demon Lords who support Hero x Demon Lord romance would side with the Heroes if war broke out?
↳ ㅇㅇ(666.849): Yep.
[Screenshot of an old post by registered user Demon Lord (Old Maou)]
The man who beat down Hero sympathizers like nobody else...
The man who scolded Demon Lords for losing their dignity and acting rashly...
The man who roared in outrage at the mere notion of Demon Lords and Heroes getting together...
The man who declared Heroes to be the Demon Lords' eternal archenemies for a hundred million years...
Ah... I miss him.
ㅇㅇ(666.841): Miss you, sir...
SurvivalDayN: Come to think of it, where did that boomer go? That bastard always mocked me for being weak, I swear to god.
↳ SpiderLord*: Went into secluded cultivation because he felt his power waning. Said he won't be on the forum either.
ㅇㅇ(666.974): Was the Old Maou actually right all along?
↳ ㅇㅇ(483.372): Whoa, don't call him a boomer. That's 'seasoned wisdom'.
Wave after wave of threads dragging me and every other Hero-tolerant user flooded the boards, smothering nearly half the entire front page in blazing outrage. Posts explicitly targeting me kept surging into the Hall of Fame, only to be vaporized by administrative censorship beams minutes later.
Yet, amidst the purge, a single callout thread managed to survive untouched on the recommended board. The reason was painfully obvious.
I hate this world.
I hate every living creature breathing in this world.
I hate the very fact that this world exists.
I hate this world where the female gender exists.
I hate this world where it feels like everyone is dating except me.
I hate a world where a fucking newbie gets lucky and picks up a female Hero.
I hate a world where a fucking newbie can flex his romance and still be allowed to live.
Just die, all of you. Please, just die.
ㅇㅇ(666.884): Upvote for sympathy....
I'm Not a Hero Sympathizer: I'm sorry...
Hero Demon Reversal: I'm sorry...
↳ ㅇㅇ(666.485): Why is this guy apologizing?
↳ Red Wine: Who knows?
The sheer, despondent agony dripping from the author's words was so raw that no moderator had the heart to strike it down.
Naturally, the text was littered with absolute delusions about me dating a Hero. Strictly speaking, going by age alone, the Hero was young enough to be my daughter. Romance? What utter nonsense. I might look youthful on the outside, but chronologically, I was already in my mid-forties. Spending twenty solitary years on an empty world had piled on the mileage, after all.
"...It's totally unhinged slander, but I almost feel bad for the guy."
Considering the author's circumstances, his meltdown was somewhat understandable. Rumor had it he had lived for hundreds of thousands of years without ever so much as brushing hands with the opposite sex. To be perfectly honest, surviving that kind of eternal solitude without losing your sanity was an achievement in itself.
Then again, looking at his post, he had clearly already lost it.
Regardless, this was the exact brand of hostility being hurled in my direction. I had gone from an anonymous lurker to the undisputed main character of the forum, to the point where trolls started spamming brain-dead threads titled 'From now on, this board belongs to ㅇㅇ(111.432).' The sheer scale of unwanted notoriety was careening past every acceptable limit.
Realizing the situation wasn't going to resolve itself, I fired off several private messages to the assistant managers and posted a few explanatory threads. But unlike the early morning mob, these users were armed with legitimate historical grievances, and they refused to let the fire die.
After two grueling hours of keyboard warfare, I was finally forced to pull the ultimate trump card.
Summoning the Chief Manager.
> You have been invited to the Administrator Chat Room.
> Temporary clearance granted.
> Room entry complete.
[Ban-gal-juk]: This is the administrator chat. You sent a message.
[Ban-gal-juk]: What favor are you calling in?
[ㅇㅇ(111.432)]: Have you seen the state of the gallery?
[Ban-gal-juk]: I have. The board is on fire over Demon Lords fraternizing with Heroes.
[Ban-gal-juk]: If you're asking me to step in and mediate, don't bother. Unless you're ready to sign the contract right this instant.
[ㅇㅇ(111.432)]: That's not what I'm asking.
[ㅇㅇ(111.432)]: What I'd like is for you to establish a clear set of rules and an official announcement regarding fraternization between Heroes and Demon Lords.
[ㅇㅇ(111.432)]: I think once an official standard is set, the drama will die down. Along with all the threads mentioning me.
[Ban-gal-juk]: Why do you assume that?
[Ban-gal-juk]: What if I post an announcement stating: 'Fraternizing with Heroes is strictly prohibited'?
[Ban-gal-juk]: Wouldn't every Demon Lord associated with a Hero be hunted down, setting off an even greater inferno?
[ㅇㅇ(111.432)]: I don't believe the Manager—or rather, the Council Chairman—would make that kind of judgment.
[Ban-gal-juk]: Hmm.
[Ban-gal-juk]: Quick on the uptake, aren't you?
[Ban-gal-juk]: Then tell me: what reason do I have to grant this request?
[ㅇㅇ(111.432)]: There were a few clauses in that contract of yours that bothered me. I'll overlook them.
[ㅇㅇ(111.432)]: What I can guarantee is that I will review the contract with extreme favor.
[Ban-gal-juk]: ....
[Ban-gal-juk]: A bit noncommittal, but acceptable.
[Ban-gal-juk]: If snapping my fingers brings me closer to securing your signature, it's a profitable trade for me.
[Ban-gal-juk]: Make sure you honor those words.
[ㅇㅇ(111.432)]: Understood.
[Ban-gal-juk]: In any case, the ongoing drama regarding Demon Lord qualifications will resolve itself before long anyway.
[ㅇㅇ(111.432)]: Excuse me?
[Ban-gal-juk]: I will explain later. Though if you accept the contract right now, I wouldn't mind telling you immediately.
[ㅇㅇ(111.432)]: No, I'm fine.
[Ban-gal-juk]: Very well. The notice will be posted shortly, so rest easy.
[ㅇㅇ(111.432)]: Thank you.
[Ban-gal-juk]: Take care.
> Temporary clearance for ㅇㅇ(111.432) has been revoked by Ban-gal-juk.
> Exiting administrator chat room.
A few minutes after that clandestine conversation deep within the gallery's administrative core, a new pinned notice appeared at the very top of the board.
This is an official administrative notice regarding fraternization with Heroes.
First and foremost: there is no rule prohibiting personal relations or contact with Heroes.
The statutory laws and contractual obligations concerning fraternization with Heroes are defined as follows:
1. If an individual suffers harm or invites retaliatory strikes as a result of fraternizing with a Hero, they may not request retaliatory assistance or military intervention from the Demon Lord Gallery or Pandemonium.
2. Leaking the existence of the Demon Lord Gallery or disclosing information regarding other gallery users to a Hero is strictly prohibited.
└ 2-1. Unless dictated by unavoidable circumstances, prior permission from the Chief Manager/Deputy Managers, or formal approval from a Pandemonium Elder, mentioning the Demon Lord Gallery to outsiders is forbidden.
3. If a formal command is issued in the name of the Demon Lord Gallery or Pandemonium, you must eliminate the Hero—even if you have established personal ties with them.
└ 3-1. Any Demon Lord who violates this clause will be immediately expelled from the gallery and subjected to permanent annihilation.
Some users may find Clause 3 concerning, but barring extreme emergencies, you will virtually never be required to eliminate a Hero with whom you have established friendly relations.
After all, befriending a Hero is, from another perspective, no different from neutralizing an enemy asset.

A single post from the Chief Manager was all it took.
The tempestuous gallery subsided in an instant. The runaway snowball of drama lost all its forward momentum, grinding to a dead halt. The witch-hunt threads and targeted callouts that had spread like wildfire vanished from the boards as if they had never existed.
Such was the absolute authority wielded by Solomon, creator of the Demon Lord Gallery and King of Pandemonium.
To put the outcome in plain terms:
The Chief Manager's intervention was super effective.
