Rebecca Ignis (1)
At the same moment, in the gods' conference hall.
Seven gods stood in a wide circle, engaged in heated discussion.

A female Upper God with her golden hair braided spoke while standing with her arms crossed.
A silver-haired girl wearing an eyepatch over one eye scolded her.
As the conversation began to grow overheated, a god with golden eyes and a small sun floating above his head stepped in to mediate.

My name is Rebecca Ignis! I am Master's eternal maid.
Although it has been over ten thousand years since Master and I first met, I still remember every single memory of him in vivid detail.
When I was first born into this world, my name was Scarlet Ignis.
It was the name my previous father gave me. Of course, I am grateful to him as well, but now the name Rebecca Ignis is far too precious to me.
I was born as an ordinary red dragon. Back then, the world was still at peace.
We dragons had been given the sacred duty by the gods to protect the middle realm. As the superior race that encompassed all other species, we lived our lives guarding every living being that existed in that realm.
Then that incident happened.
I was a hatchling who had only been alive for about two hundred years at the time. If only I had been stronger back then, maybe none of it would have happened. Or would it? Even then, I probably wouldn't have been able to stop it.
I heard that while I was still in my egg, my mother fought with my father, left him, and went to another man. So my father and I lived happily together in our lair. Watching my mother's irresponsible behavior, I made a vow that if I ever found a man I loved, I would devote everything I had to him.
Then one day, a massive tremor suddenly shook our home and a hole was blasted through the wall with a loud bang.
And through that hole, a human stepped inside.
When some random human suddenly barged into our home, my father became extremely enraged.
My father used Dragon Speech infused with the power of instant death against the strange intruder.
At the time, I didn't have the slightest doubt that the man would die.
But the man took the Dragon Speech head-on and emerged completely unharmed.
!!!!!
Father's 9th-class magic struck the man. It was the very fires of hell—stronger and hotter than any flame I had ever witnessed in my life. Yet the man walked out of that ferocious blaze with a smile on his face.
The man drew the spear he had been carrying on his back and gripped it with both hands.
When the man shouted loudly, his spear transformed into two massive swords.
Then, with a wide swing of his two swords, he severed both of my father's arms.
And with that, he swung his swords and severed my father's neck.
Thud.
Having witnessed that scene, the young me could do nothing but tremble violently where I stood.
I was so terrified that he would kill me.
I had no idea that death would have been the far better option.
The man cast a brainwashing spell on me. Since I was a dragon, such magic should never have worked on me, yet for some reason I fell under his control.
He really did ride me around like a mount. He barely fed me, and every single day began with beatings. It was utterly horrific.
He was the king of a certain kingdom. And an incredibly ambitious conqueror at that. He declared war on every neighboring nation and spent his days waging constant battles.
And on the day when the allied forces—centered around the strongest nation on the continent, the Parthian Empire—faced him in a massive plains battle to oppose him…
Salvation came to me.
He had massacred the majority of the allied soldiers. Even the Parthian Empire's army was no match for him.
Just as the tide of battle was about to turn completely in his favor, the gods descended from the heavens.
The gods, unable to tolerate how a single man had thrown the entire continent into chaos, had reached an agreement to intervene in the mortal world. Originally, there was a law that gods must not directly influence the mortal realm. They were only permitted to act indirectly through oracles or apostles. This rule was strictly upheld among the gods.
So the gods descended, and the man named Inoue Yuuki was struck down by divine punishment and annihilated. It was a complete erasure of his very existence, one that would not allow him to return even through the cycle of reincarnation.
Not only him, but his entire kingdom's army was also annihilated by divine punishment. After all, they had enjoyed themselves with plunder, arson, and rape while ravaging other nations.
And then…
I should have been completely annihilated as well.
But one god strongly opposed the others and insisted that I must be spared, and thanks to him, I was able to survive.
However, because that god had defended me, he ended up in a truly miserable state afterward.
In order to protect me… Master lost everything he had.
