“Zzz...” The sound kept ringing out as black liquid sprayed continuously from the gash in Li Huowang’s body.
This was his stomach, after all. Li Huowang staggered to the ground, his face contorted in extreme agony.
But when he saw Danyangzi’s bizarre body starting to destabilize before him, a flicker of vicious satisfaction crossed his face.
As long as he could kill Danyangzi, he didn’t care how much he suffered!
“You ungrateful wretch! If not for me stepping in, you’d still be lost in your delusions!!”
Li Huowang gritted his teeth, trembling as he pressed the blade downward with force.
“Did I fucking ask for your help? It’s because of you!! That I live in such torment!!”
“Fine! Very good!!” Killing intent burned in all six of Danyangzi’s eyes, infecting Li Huowang with the same rage.
In that moment, no other emotions filled Li Huowang’s heart. The only thing he wanted now was to kill Danyangzi!
Just as the oppressive atmosphere reached its peak, massive swarms of flies descended from the sky, enveloping both of them completely in rot and filth.
In the distance, the six senior nuns led by Abbess Jingxin clasped their beaded hands tightly together and resumed chanting with the massive Buddha statue.
“No suffering, no origination, no cessation, no path. No wisdom, no attainment. With nothing to attain, the Bodhisattva depends on Prajñāpāramitā. Thus, the mind is without obstruction; without obstruction, there is no fear. Far removed from inverted views, it reaches ultimate nirvana. All Buddhas of the three times rely on Prajñāpāramitā!”
As the sutra chanting rang out, the decay, filth, and obesity on their bodies rapidly melted away.
These elements intertwined and spread upward into the air.
In stark contrast, anomalies appeared in the sky. At the rift in the heavens, an enormous eye emerged—one belonging to the Immaculate, Unstained, Wrathful-eyed Arhat that blotted out the sky.
“Ha!” A furious roar pierced dozens of li away. The entire space shuddered, and every abnormality in Anci Nunnery dispersed rapidly—including Danyangzi.
—
In a daze, Bai Lingmiao came to her senses. Once fully aware, she found herself sprawled before a massive wok of greasy fried rice, hands shoving it frantically into her mouth.
“Urp~!” She spat out the cloying rice and looked around in panic.
After glancing about, she realized she was properly seated in Anci Nunnery’s kitchen, surrounded by fat nuns devouring their meals. The sounds of chewing and swallowing filled her ears.
Turning back to the wok, she saw that the rice wasn’t just for her—it was for their whole table.
Gouwa, Xiaoman, Baolu, Yang Kid, and Gao Zhijian were all there, gorging themselves just like the nuns.
But soon, they snapped out of it, staring around in confusion.
“What... what happened? Why are we here?” The others clearly hadn’t pieced it together yet.
Bai Lingmiao quickly scanned the room and saw everyone else was there—except Li Huowang.
“What the hell is going on? Weren’t we exorcising Senior Brother? How’d we end up eating here all of a sudden? No veggies at all, just pure grease—how’s anyone supposed to eat this?”
Gouwa looked over at the other tables as he spoke. The nuns there ignored him completely, crazily stuffing their faces with moldy steamed buns and other spoiled food instead of fried rice.
With anxiety on her face, Bai Lingmiao approached a fat nun from behind. “Esteemed Master, have you seen my Senior Brother Li?”
“Senior Brother Li? You mean that heart elemental lad? He’s with Abbess Jingxin. Go find her.”
The nun answered without turning, snatching food with her hands all the while, afraid to be too slow and miss out.
After pushing through the swamp of moldy food once more, the group arrived at Abbess Jingxin’s quarters.
They saw Li Huowang standing there, talking with a nun whose appearance was utterly bizarre. Her eye sockets held no eyes—both had withered inward completely.
Her frame was extremely emaciated, yet her skin hung loose and baggy: the flesh from her chin draped to her belly, and from her belly to the ground, like a voluminous Daoist robe.
Hearing footsteps, Li Huowang turned, smiling as he waved them over.
Bai Lingmiao’s heart skipped a beat. This was the first time she’d ever seen Senior Brother Li smile.
“You’re here? No need to be scared. The masters of Anci Nunnery can’t always rein in their divine powers—it’s normal for it to affect people.” Li Huowang explained to the others.
As Bai Lingmiao drew near, she was stunned by the skeletal nun’s beauty. She was just too stunning.
Even with her bizarre looks. Even though Bai Lingmiao herself was a woman.
Bai Lingmiao pulled Li Huowang aside slightly and whispered, “Senior Brother Li, who is she?”
“She’s Abbess Jingxin. What, don’t you recognize her?”
Just as Li Huowang spoke, the blind girl with dragging skin nodded at the others from afar.
“She?! Abbess Jingxin?? That huge fatso who couldn’t even walk?”
Everyone’s eyes widened in shock. The difference was just too extreme.
“Anci Nunnery’s cultivation methods are different from anywhere else. Don’t ask. But thanks to Abbess Jingxin’s great sacrifice, it worked. My problem is gone. Danyangzi won’t be coming out anymore.”
Hearing Li Huowang’s final words, smiles spread across everyone’s faces as they congratulated him.
After a brief exchange, the amiable Li Huowang raised his hands to quiet their questions about the details.
“I still have some things to handle here. It’ll take a while, so you all go on ahead. Once I’m done, I’ll catch up as soon as I can.”
“Senior Brother Li, what takes so long? Why not let us stay and help?” Bai Lingmiao immediately objected to splitting up.
“Don’t mess around. You can’t help with cultivation matters. Go on ahead—it’ll be at most ten days or so before I catch up.”
“Besides, don’t you all want to get home? Hurry off. You’ve already delayed so long; any more and you’ll be spending New Year’s on the road.”
“I’m not leaving forever. Relax—as long as you follow the route marked on the map, I’m sure to catch up.”
After Li Huowang’s persuasion, the other fellow disciples finally relented and turned to leave Anci Nunnery.
As their figures faded into the distance, the smile on Li Huowang’s face gradually cooled, replaced by pain.
He untied his red Daoist robe and lifted his upper garment, revealing a massive gash in his abdomen crawling with dense white maggots wriggling in and out.
“Your wound will heal in no time here at Anci Nunnery. What you should worry about is something else. You know what I mean.”
