Chapter 84
Civil Servant Hunter’s S-class Resignation Log – Chapter 84
"Labyrinth Dungeon..."
Se-ra, watching the breaking news on her phone, let out a sigh and turned off the screen.
"Wow, how is the timing this perfect? Everyone around me was just warning me to be careful about that damn Labyrinth."
She recalled her brother's cursenot quite a cursethat speaking of it would make it happen. Maybe it was his mouth that was the problem. Next time she saw him, she'd have to smack him until his cheeks swelled up.
"Liza, you can't just open and close the Labyrinth Gate whenever you want, right?"
As expected. She wasn't surprised, having already heard about the Designer and Administrator from Seong Ja-rim. If they could control it freely, the Administrator might have kept the door shut forever to stop her from going into that dangerous place.
"Guess I have to go to America."
Argh. Se-ra tossed her phone aside like trash and flailed her arms and legs. She didn't care about the weird looks she was getting right now.
"My lovely vacation...!"
She was currently lounging on a sunbed by the hotel pool, enjoying her time off.
Why was a civil servant slacking off like this on a weekday?
Because she'd gotten a reward vacation after clearing the Cheorwon Dungeon! Paid leave, no less! Ah, the glorious paid vacation!
'If it weren't for the Labyrinth Dungeon news, I could've savored it even more.'
She'd been happily floating around on a big tube in one corner of the pool when the sparkling alert about the Labyrinth blooming appeared before her eyes.
So startled she'd jumped up and slipped right into the water.
How long ago was that 1st-grade dungeon clear? Now it was a Labyrinth raid?
"I'll have to attend the WDO meeting under the Headbang name..."
She hadn't expected to reveal her identity this soon. She wanted a bit more freedomwhat a shame.
"Huh?"
Se-ra's eyes lit up at the Administrator's message.
Right, there was that.
L-rankers' duty was to tackle the Labyrinth, not attend the WDO meeting itselfthey could skip it. They were always busy handling top-grade dungeons popping up worldwide, so proxies were common.
Se-ra could do the same without issue.
'Of course, "proxy" is just talkI'll be going myself.'
With the Blessing 'Silver Veil' and the title Thousand Faces Mask, she could fool everyone as an F-rank proxy. Hum hum, perfect for slipping into America unnoticed.
"Yeah. Perfect."
She wasn't trying to deceive anyone. She just hated the spotlight. Haha. For real.
* * *
Every country will be pulling strings to keep their L-rankers home, so why shouldn't we? If Suhorang says so, she can make it happen, right?
Nah, Labyrinth assault teams don't work that way. Even if a country strips naked in protest, they pick the best Hunters.
Yeah, exactly. If you pull all the strong ones and fill with mediocrity, the raid fails, Dungeon Break happens, our lives fly away like paper in the wind, and Earth goes boom. Want a taste of the Labyrinth Breakout?
Ugh, chills. Thinking of 12 years ago ;;;;
Just rank 'em by skill and pick the top ones;;
They'll check health status anyway, so only uninjured, fully limbed L-rankers get picked. No worries. If someone's off, WDO cuts 'em.
|OP|: Phew, relief. OK, banking on that. TBH, I just want to protect Kang Se-jun's beauty. What if he goes injured and scars his face?
Wait, your reason is super personal??
Most biased reason I've seen lol
|OP|: Y'all wouldn't get it. Our L-sa's beauty is national treasure levelneeds protection!!
L-sa? You mean Kang S-J?
|OP|: L-rank mage. Elsa for short lol
Lmao
Insane
Nickname I never saw coming
Elsa could sue and I'd have no defense
Lord, save this hopeless stan
"Oh. Elsa?"
Se-ra, scrolling the community forum, glanced at Kang Se-jun beside her. Cracks were forming on the face praised for L-rank beautyhe clearly knew the nickname.
"Had no idea you had a nickname like that. Should I call you Elsa from now on?"
*You can use all elements, so ice magic too, right? Blue outfit, please.*
Se-ra grinned cheekily. Kang Se-jun thought punching that smug face just once would fulfill all his wishes.
"Must be nice being you, Kang Se-jun. Fans saying they need to protect your L-rank beauty and all. Oh, sorry. Elsa."
Even Han Su-eon was joining in.
The Han Su-eon he knew had been nothing like thisstoic, cold, even ruthless at times. This life was so different from the past.
"Pfft, Elsa."
Of course, Yoo Su-eun snickering at him hadn't changed. Her consistent snark was almost comforting.
"Too bad for the fans who like you enough to call you Elsa. You're going to America anyway."
Today's Association meeting was to select attendees for the WDO conference. Seven mobile S-rankers and three L-rankersnine in totalgathered.
"Obviously, the three of you are definitely going."
Song Han-na's finger jabbed at Kang Se-jun, Seong Ja-rim, and Yoon Se-ra. Jung Ho-young, who'd just learned Se-ra was Headbang and been shocked, voiced concerns.
"So, we're revealing Se-ra's identity?"
"I talked to her about it..."
As all eyes turned to Se-ra, she smiled brightly. Like her F-rank days when she blended into the background. Even as a powerhouse, her presence remained faint.
"I still look weak, right? Planning to use that."
"What? Not revealing even there?"
Yoo Su-eun asked, baffled.
"Yes. I'll reveal when Labyrinth participation is set. But for the meeting, as an F-rank civil servant proxy."
"L-rank Headbang, though."
Se-ra quietly met Yoo Su-eun's eyes, and she coughed awkwardly, looking away. What? Why'd she suddenly feel scary?
"No one pays attention to the weak meperfect for scouting the other powerhouses."
"Great for sneaking in and gauging the field."
"Or pulling a scam."
Kang Se-jun and Seong Ja-rim muttered.
"What. Can't guarantee I won't. Haha. Who knows what people might do?"
The two recoiled at her nonsense, but the problem was they were the only ones. Everyone else beamed proudly at her boldness.
No. You're all being fooled...
"So Se-ra goes as proxy. Two Association civil servants as support."
"All three L-rankers attend. Which S-rankers?"
"I'll go."
It was Song Han-na who spoke.
"That's why I gathered all the mobile S-rankers today."
Everyone's eyes widened.
"President going personally? You've never left before."
"Is it really necessary?"
Despite Joo Eun and Jung Ho-young's worries, Song Han-na was firm.
"I have to. They'll all be eyeing those three hungrily."
"Ah..."
"With me there, no one will openly harass them."
Not personal greed or politics. Protecting her nation's powerhouses nowthat was the Association President's job.
"Don't worry. Even those desperate to drag me down have brains. They know badmouthing me for protecting L-rankers by going to America hurts them more."
"If they had brains, they wouldn't have made you an enemy to begin with."
Song Han-na chuckled at Jung Ho-young's crisp summary. "True that."
"Do Jun-young will act as President proxy while I'm gone. No causing trouble, stay put. Especially Yoo Su-eun."
"What'd I do! Any incidents lately?"
"Plenty before. That's why."
"The biggest mess was from Han Su-eons guild member!"
"I'll behave."
Han Su-eon slammed his head on the table under Song Han-na's glare. Yoo Su-eun yelped "What?!" at the guilty man's quick surrender.
"With me attending, other S-rankers don't need to. What about Yoon Jae-hun?"
"If the Captain's going to the meeting, so am I. We'll head back to Athena together from there."
"Gasp."
Yoo Su-eun, yapping like a Chihuahua, shut her mouth. Athena's Captainthe world's most shrouded figure?
"I'll go too, President!"
"Can I join?"
Yoo Su-eun and Joo Eun raised hands. No way they'd miss seeing Ali Russo in person.
"Denied. What if something happens in Korea while I'm gone? Both of you out? No."
"Ah! If trouble hits, I'll rush backno looking back! Please!"
"Nope, denied."
"Aaaah."
"Really no?"
"No."
Yoo Su-eun and Joo Eun's faces fell instantly.
"So, five confirmed. Good work coming here. Dismissed."
"President, Tiger! Please!"
Yoo Su-eun clung to the end, but Tiger grabbed the Chihuahua by the scruff and tossed her out. Ruthless.
