Chapter 32
Civil Servant Hunter’s S-class Resignation Log – Chapter 32
Uh, so... the mental erosion doesn't work on me...
"...which means that thanks to our Liza protecting me, it's basically like I have a mental barrier skill, right?"
Oh my god. Come to think of it, even back when the first rift dungeon broke out, they sent that cheerful fighting emoticon.
Sometimes it was hard to tell if they really cared or not, but if it had been truly dangerous, they wouldn't have sent something so playful.
"So, that means I can just clean this place out, huh? Thanks to you, Liza?"
"Shoot them all with the gun?"
Se-ra pulled Heat out of her inventory, where she'd converted it to a slingshot. With Kim Sang-hyun passed out, there were no eyes on her. She switched it back to sniper rifle mode and fired at the ghost that had tried to erode her.
Pfht! But the mana bullet passed right through the ghost and embedded itself in the floor. The dumbstruck white ghost saw it and bolted.
"Mental erosion works fine, but this is the problem."
Ghost types were exactly what they sounded likespiritual bodies. Normal physical attacks didn't work.
She wanted to blast away all the ones that had flung her Crimson Flail.
"More than anything, I need to save the section chief. Ah, what am I gonna do?"
"Shoot the squares? Oh, cubes?"
Her unique skill, Field Domination.
"I see. If I set the zone to the ghost types themselves..."
She hadn't tried it before, but if the Administrator said so, it should work.
"Field Domination."
Se-ra activated the skill without a second thought. Her reddened eyes fixed on the fallen Kim Sang-hyun.
It wasn't him specifically. Her left eye caught the ghost that had invaded his body and was gnawing away at his mind bit by bit.
Her finger pulled the trigger. The bullet pierced Kim Sang-hyun's forehead in an instant.
Bang!
Aaaaah!
A balloon-popping sound rang out alongside the ghost's scream.
The attacked monster burst out of Kim Sang-hyun's body. Its milky eyes turned toward Se-ra, and in the next moment, the ghost's form scattered into dust in the air.
The death of a ghost type. And not a single wound marred Kim Sang-hyun's eroded body.
"Whoa. That's awesome."
Se-ra alternated glances between Kim Sang-hyun, now peacefully asleep free of the ghost, and her gun. A bright smile crept across her lips.
A thoroughly vicious grin.
"So... I can kill all the ghost types here?"
What floated before her eyes wasn't a familiar emoticon, but another unprecedented message.
Right she'd forgotten for a moment, but earlier there'd been one just like this.
"Fury my ass!"
Se-ra punched at the incoming message. Perhaps startled, the Administrator cut off mid-sentence, and the system screen vanished.
Se-ra glared at empty air.
"Elizabeth, what the hell was that message? What are you hiding from me right now?"
She swung her fist demanding an answerbut that only sent more blood droplets flying.
Unable to hold back, the beast let out an inhuman screech and charged. Se-ra fired desperately, but as expected, the bullets passed harmlessly through the spirit.
She flung herself sideways. Her wounded area scraped the hard floor, sending a stinging pain shooting through her.
"Ow, this is the worst time for something like this. I need to shake down Liza proper."
Even an S-rank was useless without a skill to hit spirits. Especially one that could wound flesh.
That's why matchups mattered more than rank.
"Should I force the skill to activate?"
"Knew you'd say that, Liza. Be good and spill it nicely."
The Administrator finally sent a new message after shedding a single tear drop. It wasn't proper speech, but it was clear communication, just like from other adults.
How long had this kind of message transmission been possible? And why hadn't they told her?
