Chapter 133
Chapter 133
Civil Servant Hunter’s S-class Resignation Log – Chapter 133
Drip, drip. The sound of water droplets pooling and falling to the floor echoed.
Both their gazes turned to his thoroughly soaked chest. The white shirt clinging to his skin clearly revealed his physique.
The man slyly peeled the shirt away from his chest. Only then did Se-ra snap out of it and cover her eyes.
"The audacity. Who was it that turned a perfectly good gun into a water pistol? And why a water pistol of all things? You did this on purpose, didn't you? Trying to seduce me?"
Se-ra peeked at him through her fingers before whipping her head away. For some reason, she suddenly recalled the Silent Dragon bellowing that it had committed the most sins of lust.
"Go change your clothes! Or else I'll just keep staring."
If he was fine with it, she wouldn't hold back. She had come to argue, but she kept getting the short end of the stick, which grated on her.
Se-ra lowered her hands from her face and looked at him again. Perhaps because she had steeled herself beforehand, her heart didn't pound as wildly as when she first saw the damp beauty. Instead, something else caught her eye.
His face was so refined, and he always wore those flowy shirts, so she had assumed he was slender like a model. But surprisingly, the man possessed solid, toned muscles.
'Scars...'
More striking, though, were the faint scars she had seen once before. Old wounds covered not just his chest but his entire upper body densely. They were clear proof that his life had been far from easy.
Just like Seong Ja-rim's body. No, in some ways, even more so.
"Who the hell are you, anyway? You're too vivid to be some nameless resident of a dream. And how do you know my mom?"
Se-ra had done her own investigating, in her own way. A man this strikingly handsome would have stood out somehow, whether he was an active hunter or not.
Yet no records of him existed anywhere. She had even asked Song Han-na if her mother had any Western acquaintances, but even she knew nothing.
So who the hell was this man?
"Enemies?"
Pretty well of each other.
That was how he put it, but Se-ra, Hyeon-hee's daughter, knew better. Her mother had thought highly of this man. If she had even slightly disliked him, she wouldn't have bothered with him at all.
"You won't reveal your identity?"
The man smiled. It was absurd how casually he said he was nothing, despite being alive.
It didn't seem like nonchalance. It felt more like the dry emptiness unique to someone like Seong Ja-rim, who had endured despair for so long that they had let everything go.
A chill ran down her spine.
"No one? Is that why you don't care if the world ends or not?"
The question that had been nagging at her most poured out like water from an open faucet.
"Because this world has nothing to do with you?"
The man smiled instead of answering. His hazy smile held no emotion, and Se-ra involuntarily stepped back.
For the first time, even though he had done nothing, the man felt frightening.
"What is the world to you, exactly?"
"Does giving up hope mean the same as wanting destruction? How are those the same? I don't want to die. I've clawed my way this far! You think I'm going to let it all end now? I'll stop it for my own sake if nothing else."
The man's eyes widened at Se-ra's outburst. His eyelashes trembled as if he had heard something astonishing.
"What has you so shocked?"
"Of course. I've come this farwhy would I die now?"
The regressor Kang Se-jun had only found a life where no one died after six loops. The returner Seong Ja-rim had finally made it back to Earth for the first time.
And Se-ra had barely escaped the Werewolf Dungeon.
Would such miracles happen again? What if they didn't next time? This might be their last chance. She would survive, no matter what.
"So you're going to destroy the world?"
Se-ra gripped her gun again. As if she would switch it to lethal and kill him on the spot if he said yes.
The man, having already masked his surprise, shook his head.
"Really? You're not the one who helped the Silent Dragon on the 8th floor of the labyrinth? Or stole the key to unlock the Cheorwon Dungeon?"
Se-ra stepped forward and placed her hand on his chest. His heartbeat was steady and calm. Of course, that didn't prove his innocence. But with no clear evidence, she decided to drop the interrogation.
"I hope you're not my enemy. I don't want to film a splatter movie even in my dreams."
The man shrugged at her warning that she wouldn't let an enemy off easy.
The man muttered to himself for a moment, then nodded as if it was a good idea.
At his calm words, Se-ra blankly looked around. All the hundreds of jewels on the floor? No, the entire mansion?
Good lord. With that, she could buy several penthouses... No, with a mansion, who needed a penthouse...
Her mind raced with greed. Se-ra, who had been mentally tapping away at a calculator, belatedly noticed the man's smiling face and jolted back to reality.
"How do you bring stuff from a dream into reality? Don't scam me!"
"..."
Well, when he put it like that, she had nothing to say.
Se-ra glanced back and forth between Heat, now a water pistol, and the man. Was it really possible?
The man grasped Se-ra's hand on his chest. She yanked in surprise, but it wouldn't budge.
A bet. The bet between Hyeon-hee and the man.
As the forgotten memory resurfaced, Se-ra tossed aside the water pistol Heat had become and grabbed his collar.
"The bet with my mom. You said you lost. So where does your heart lie now?"
Did he wish for the world's destruction?
Or did he not?
What had the man chosen?
The man suddenly pulled Se-ra's waist toward him, embracing her tightly. At the same time, he flipped her backward.
It was the fourth time already, so she knew what was coming. Determined not to let go this time, she clenched her gripped hand and the one on his collar.
But when her body plunged into the water, the man had already vanished like a burst bubble. Se-ra clenched her fist in vain frustration. Damn it!
Glug, glug.
Bubbles from her mouth rose to the surface one by one. She squeezed her eyes shut at the sight of the man who had disappeared without a trace.
She still didn't know if she could trust him or not.
"Gasp!"
Se-ra's eyes flew open as she bolted upright. The clock read 10 a.m. It was already the morning of New Year's Day.
"Wow. Worst New Year's morning since twelve years ago."
It would've been less irritating if today was January 2nd. But no, it had to be January 1st, making it all the more unpleasant.
"That damn bastard. No name? Nothing at all?"
Fine then. She'd give him a name herself. Something like Worm Kim.
Se-ra kicked off the blanket, thinking up what she considered the most awful name. She was too pissed to stay put. She needed to work out and shake off the unease.
As she scratched her head and tried to get up, Heatwhich she had tucked into her arms before sleeptumbled onto the bed. A sudden chill washed over her.
"...What?"
She had definitely transformed Heat into a Colt before bed. But now, it felt far too light. The shape was the same, but why...
"No way."
Se-ra hurriedly gripped the gun and pulled the trigger. No cube, no silencer, but she didn't hesitate.
Squirt. As expected. What came from the barrel wasn't a bullet, but water.
A water pistol. Exactly as the man had arbitrarily changed it in the dream.
"...Crazy. What the hell is this?"
"How do you bring stuff from a dream into reality? Don't scam me!"
"You brought a gun from reality into the dream, so why couldn't it work the other way? When you wake up, you'll know if I'm telling the truth."
"That's exactly what that man said..."
What happened in the dream had happened in reality. It was utterly impossible, yet the lightweight water pistol proved it unmistakably.
Se-ra couldn't move for a long while.
