Chapter 111
Chapter 111
Civil Servant Hunter’s S-class Resignation Log – Chapter 111
This wasn't the first time seeing a collapsed world. Se-ra glanced subtly at Seong Ja-rim. When she took her hand at the sight of her not-so-cheerful expression, Ja-rim's face softened a little.
"No signs of life."
Kang Se-jun shook his head after deploying his detection skill.
Everyone concealed their presence and moved cautiously. Even though the ruins of buildings clearly showed that people had lived here, not a trace of life's energy could be felt.
"Somehow, it feels familiar."
The one who said that was none other than Oliver.
"Have you seen it before?"
"No. Not even once. And yet, it feels like I've lived here before."
He'd never been here himself. But it felt familiar. That could only mean one thing.
"It's related to your holy entity."
The stronger the connection with the holy entity, the more the contractor learns about them. By L-rank, it wasn't uncommon to unconsciously glimpse their memories.
"If it's related to my holy entity..."
Oliver's face hardened rigidly. His holy entity was an archangel. There was only one "revelation" connected to him.
"Revelation."
The final book of the New Testament and a book of prophecythe world of the Book of Revelation by John.
This place was highly likely to be a world tied to the revelations inscribed there. Dungeons often manifested myths and legends from reality, so it was entirely possible.
But one thingthe name was profoundly meaningful.
"Could this be the world where the prophecies of Revelation have collapsed? No way."
"It's a parallel world."
Seong Ja-rim scooped up a handful of soil from the desolate land. Seeing a destroyed world for the second time, her face held an indescribable emotion.
"If there's a world where the prophecy came true, there can be one where it didn't. This place has summoned exactly that world."
The others looked skeptical, but Se-ra and Kang Se-jun understood immediately. I see. This was the dimension of a failed prophecy.
"No word from your holy entity?"
"The severed connection hasn't returned yet."
Oliver shook his head at Kang Se-jun's question.
Whether due to the labyrinth's immense magic power or some other reason, the connection between holy entity and contractor severed the moment they entered. It recovered quickly, but it was inevitably uncomfortable in moments like this.
What about my connection with Lizza?
Se-ra glanced at the empty air. She didn't feel any disconnection...
Seeing the playful emoticon drained the tension from her. Right, she should worry about what needed worrying.
"Feels bad."
At that moment, Julian muttered while covering his mouth as if holding back nausea. Everyone snapped into combat readiness at those short words.
"Something coming?"
"Dunno. Can't feel a thing. But it really feels gross."
"My detection picks up nothing."
No one dismissed Julian's words despite Kang Se-jun's report. Julian Martinez, the top hunter in America and one of the best in the world, had his greatest strength in his instinctssomething beyond even L-rank.
"Scout from the air."
Kang Se-jun flew into the sky. His face soon hardened as he surveyed the surroundings.
"Snakes are swarming!"
"How many?"
"At least thousands."
"Thousands coming and you didn't notice?!"
Kang Se-jun clicked his tongue as Monic yelled.
"No life energy. No presence. Fitting for labyrinth monsters."
Even Kang Se-jun couldn't detect things without energy or presence.
"They're coming from one direction, so hit them with AoE first."
As Kang Se-jun swung his hand, the ground where the seven stood rose up. The distant horizon was blanketed in thousands of snakes. It was a revolting sight that truly turned the stomach.
"Revelation and snakes. What do you think, Oliver? Any guesses on the situation?"
Oliver clicked his tongue at Ali's question. How could he not know? Revelation and "snakes" were inseparably linked.
"A great sign appeared in heaven: a woman clothed with the sun, with the moon under her feet and a crown of twelve stars on her head. She was pregnant and cried out in pain as she was about to give birth. Then another sign appeared in heaven: an enormous red dragon with seven heads and ten horns and seven crowns on its heads."
"Revelation?"
"It's the prophecy from chapter 12. Here, the snake is called the 'Red Dragon of Revelation.'"
The great red dragon. Revelation's worst demon, with seven heads, seven crowns, and ten horns.
But it loses the war against the angels and falls to earth. The angels triumph and return to God's side.
Yet this land was destroyed, unlike the contents of Revelation.
"Then this must be Armageddon."
A world where, contrary to the prophecy, the angels lost the final war. The land where the woman and child were devoured by the dragon. The world where the dragon swallowed the heavens.
"Was Nidhogg on the 3rd or 4th floor before?"
"3rd floor. Twelve S-ranks died, so they've been sending mostly L-ranks since."
The Red Dragon of Revelation, presumed even stronger than Nidhogg, which had gruesomely killed even S-ranks. How many of the eight would survive to escape the gate?
"Still, this might be easy."
Everyone turned to Se-ra at her words.
"The prophecy collapsing means all the angels in this world are dead. But unlike them, we have an archangel from another world, right?"
According to Revelation, the one who cast the heaven-coveting red dragon into hell was the archangel Michael. And Michael was none other than Oliver's holy entity.
"Hoping Oliver Ross gets close with his holy entity."
The deeper the bond, the faster the severed connection recovers. Please connect before the apocalyptic dragon appears. Or everyone dies.
"Deal with the snakes first. If those tie our feet while fighting the dragon, we're done. Dealers up front."
At Ali's command, the ranged dealers stepped forward. Mage Kang Se-jun, ranger Julian, and Yoon Se-ra.
"Gonna snipe them one by one?"
Tank Garcia, who had fallen back, taunted Se-ra. She snorted. Oh, that annoying mouth of yoursI'll make it swell shut.
"That could work. But why waste effort when I have this?"
Now L-rank, she had no need to hold back.
Se-ra openly transformed the sniper rifle Heat she held.
What she chose was a thrilling gatling gun. With a thunk, the gatling gun revealed itself, and everyone's eyes widened.
"What, a transforming weapon?!"
"A gatling gun, no less? What are you?!"
"I want it! Give it to me! I wanna have it!"
Garcia, Monic, and Julian went wild. Oliver and Ali were speechless at the cheat weapon they'd never heard of.
"Yoon Se-ra... You could transform it like that?"
Kang Se-jun's eyes shook greatly; he'd thought Heat only turned into a Colt or sniper rifle. Only Seong Ja-rim, who knew the truth, giggled at their shocked faces.
"Looks like you all have time to chat. Let's kill the snakes first."
Not inclined to explain in detail, Se-ra smiled brightly and unleashed the gatling gun.
Bullets poured endlessly from the six rapidly spinning barrels. The recoil of a gun firing about 3,000 rounds per minute was entirely absorbed by the gloves gifted by the Administrator.
Se-ra couldn't hide her thrill at the snakes exploding in an instant. True to EX-rank, mana consumption was negligible, so she fired freely. The spraying sensation was exquisite.
Hahaha. You disgusting monster bastards. This is modern firepower!
"Never seen a gatling gun suit someone so perfectly."
"The military would scout her hard. She's total army material."
"Whoa. Didn't expect another AoE dealer."
Everyone was awestruck as the snakes' numbers dwindled at a terrifying rate.
No one had ever seen someone spray a gatling gun in a dungeon. Mana drain was too intense; even if crafted, no one could use it effectively. Yet Headbang, the newest L-rank, pulled it off.
If she was this strong without skills, her combat power with skills was unimaginable.
"Her face looks way too happy killing snakes, though?"
"Yeah. Thought she was meek and mild, but nope."
Monic and Ali whispered, watching the ecstatic Se-ra mowing them down. Ja-rim, standing blankly beside them, chimed in.
"Don't mess with Yoon Se-ra. Even her smile isn't a real smile. Touch her, and you're done for. Be careful."
Monic and Ali nodded reluctantly at the serious warning.
"Even fighting this loudly, no sign of anything else appearing."
Oliver muttered, still vigilantly scanning the surroundings.
Despite the three pouring attacks relentlessly, all directions remained eerily quiet. Surely the 8th floor of the labyrinth didn't have only snakes.
