Chapter 107
Civil Servant Hunter’s S-class Resignation Log – Chapter 107
Gong Hae-yeon shook her head.
"Just thinking about having to talk to Guild Master Yoo Su-eun is already draining me."
"I'll go."
She let out a deep sigh, then whipped her head around at Se-ra's words.
"What? No way. You're about to head into the labyrinthwhy take on work? I'm already annoyed you came in today. Just rest up until then."
Gong Hae-yeon grumbled discontentedly as she grabbed Se-ra's face and inspected it closely. Was everything okay in the Japan dungeon? Why had she lost so much weight? Was she eating properly? She should buy her a meal, and so on.
Good grief. She'd just said she'd finished all her work, but now she was playing around.
"I'm fine. It's just a quick chat. I'll go after lunch. Oh, and I moved."
"Moved? Where to?"
"Hehe. I'll invite you over for a housewarming after the labyrinth trip, so look forward to it."
"Whoa, no way. Saying it like that means you must've landed somewhere really nice, right? Come to think of it, you've made a ton of money. Where? Spill it!"
Gong Hae-yeon poked at her side relentlessly, but Se-ra didn't say a word until the end. Where was the surprise if she spoiled it beforehand? She wanted to properly show off her new place, so Se-ra revealed absolutely nothing.
* * *
"This place hasn't changed a bit."
The Suhorang Guild headquarters, which she was visiting after quite a while, was still flashy as ever. True to the guild with the most money, the building stood tall and eye-catching right in the heart of Cheongdam-dong. It could easily crush most major corporations.
But even this high-and-mighty guild seemed thrown off by the recent nonstop news and internet buzz about Headbang's appearance.
Upon hearing that the person in question had shown up herself, Vice Guild Master Park Kyung-do rushed down to the first floor to greet her.
"H-Headbang? I-Is that really you? It's truly, truly an honor to meet you! I'm Suhorang's Vice Guild Master, Park Kyung-do!"
"......"
No, you don't have to bow your head all the way to the ground like that. This is getting awkward.
"So, what brings you to our humble Suhorang Guild...? Gasp! W-W-Wait, are you here to join?!"
"I'm here as Association employee Yoon Se-ra, not Headbang."
"Ah...... I see......"
When Se-ra flashed her employee ID hanging around her neck, he openly showed his disappointment.
Suhorang through and through. It wasn't just Yoo Su-eun who was greedythe vice guild master was the same.
"You're here about the Baekhwa Guild incident, right?"
Baekhwa Guild. The very place at the center of Suhorang's recent troubles.
"Yes, that's right."
"This way, please. The guild master is waiting."
Park Kyung-do treated Se-ra with unwavering politeness and deference throughout. Back when she was F-rank, he'd been so condescending, but one rank change and his attitude flipped. This damn rank supremacy. Truly pathetic.
"What the! It really is Headbang! You you you youyou! Why are you here?!"
As soon as she entered the guild master's office, Yoo Su-eunwho had been pacing anxiously after getting the heads-upjumped in shock. Se-ra smiled brightly and gently waved her employee ID.
"Because I'm with the Association too. As an employee, I have to do my job."
"You're on vacation! Vacation!"
"I returned to work today. I have to leave again in a few days, but who gets to slack off whenever they want at a job? Gotta handle things until then."
Hahaha. It was thrilling to see the famously prickly Yoo Su-eun recoil like this.
As Se-ra's smile widened, Yoo Su-eun shuddered from head to toe. Like a real Chihuahua.
"Even so, you showing up in person is cheating! Huh? Who's gonna argue with you when you're this scary?!"
"I haven't done anything. I haven't even sat down yet."
"Sit! Sit! Hurry up and sit already!"
"Oh, iced coffee for me, please."
Not content with plopping casually onto the sofa, she even ordered a drink without hesitation. Yoo Su-eun gestured to Park Kyung-do, who hurriedly brought the coffee before excusing himself.
"Tch. I had everything prepared to say, but you made me forget it all."
"I'm just here purely for work. Shall we start with the details?"
Yoo Su-eun hemmed and hawed before finally sighing deeply. Se-ra pretended not to hear her mutter something about how she just couldn't handle this.
"......Our healer was in the wrong, yeah. I do spoil my kids rotten, but even I wouldn't tell them to ditch a contract and run if it's dangerous, you know? I train 'em hard and only recruit the ones who pass. Right? It's different from that Su-eon punk's Cheongrang!"
"Dispatch work is Suhorang's main revenue stream, so trust is key. That's why it felt a bit off to me too."
She had a domineering side and loved money, but all of it rested on a foundation of trust. No matter how much Suhorang monopolized healers and mages, without trust, no one would risk handing over dangerous jobs to them.
Suhorang always honored its contracts. That was the basics.
"B-rank healer. Skilled enough to reattach a severed arm. New hire, but reliable enough to send out solo."
Yoo Su-eun handed over documents on the healer in question.
His name was Kim Yu-hyeon. Awakened as a B-rank healer a year ago and joined Suhorang right after. With wide-area heals and defensive skills, he had A-rank potential if he kept growing. So why had he pulled something like this?
"And then the bastard bolted and went dark."
"......Pardon?"
"Fuck! This shitty punk splashes mud on us and acts like he doesn't know jack! How do I even say that? If we admit we can't even track the guy, our reputation tanks!"
Good lord. Yoo Su-eun's face flushed beet red as she slammed the desk she really meant it.
'Good thing I came in person.'
Yoo Su-eun must have felt safe venting the frustrations she'd been bottling up, since it was Se-ra.
"Don't you have tracking skills, Guild Master Yoo Su-eun? I saw on the forums you sometimes tip off Joo Eun about Kang Han-seo's location at Yeongwon."
"I had one of our guild mages do it. I don't have that ability. Ugh. We've already called in a bunch to track himno dice! He's either hiding with some adult beast's powers or he's bolted somewhere beyond our range. Damn punk. Just wait till I catch him."
'He'd be better off killing himself if he gets caught.'
With that furious look, if he surrendered intact, Yoo Su-eun would probably strip him down to his soul.
"Hey, L-rank. Got any ideas? It's not like you're hiding him 'cause you don't wanna hand him over! We can't find him either!"
"You should've said so sooner. The Association could've helped out."
"Fuck! I didn't think the damn bastard would vanish so cleanly! This pisses me off! I'm gonna kill him!"
"That's why we need to find him first."
How to handle this? One of the top five guilds, and they couldn't let the issue blow up like this.
At the Administrator's voice, Se-ra tilted her head. A photo?
"Guild Master, do you have a photo of that Kim Yu-hyeon healer by any chance?"
"Photo? Why? It's on the back of those documents anyway."
Flipping through a few pages, there it was. Brown hair, brown eyes. Average-looking guy who'd screwed over Yoo Su-eun and run. Wow, some real guts.
"Ah!"
Right. The Administrator was the System Administrator, wasn't she? She'd forgotten amid all the emoji spam, the name Elizabeth, and the fox transformations.
Se-ra pretended not to hear.
"Why? What's up? You got a way?"
"Looks like my god can help. She's got abilities."
"No way! For real? Really?!"
"Let's give it a shot."
She'd momentarily forgotten how petty Elizabeth could be. After this, she'd summon the fox and shower her with affection.
Oh, as expected of the Administratorso fast. Se-ra jotted down the location Kim Yu-hyeon had given.
Some rural village on Wando Island. Just barely outside a mage's detection range.
"Guess he knows his guild well enough to hide this good. Why stick around domestically instead of fleeing overseas?"
"'Cause I had people watching the airports. So this shitty punk's holed up here, huh?"
Yoo Su-eun's face turned red and purple again as she took the address. Kim Yu-hyeon might not be coming back in one piece.
"Contact the Association once you've got him. I'll buy Baekhwa Guild a few days' grace."
"Thanks. Since it's thanks to you, I won't kill himjust send him alive."
"......Appreciated."
Hey, for Yoo Su-eun's personality, not killing him was something.
With her announcing she'd head to Wando personally, Se-ra slipped out of Suhorang HQ. She even obliged the excited guild members requesting handshakes.
Ah, this really makes me feel like a celebrity. Getting attention from a few Awakenersno cameras or press involvedwas pretty nice, so Se-ra shrugged as she left the building.
"Headbang."
The smile vanished from her face the instant she heard that name.
Who the hell calls me that so casually and rudely?
"......Huh?"
But this wasn't just anyone. The 'National Assembly' letters gleaming on the gold mugunghwa badge were blinding. It was Lee Gil-sang, the opposition congressman everyone knew.
"Hello, Congressman. Didn't expect to see you here."
"You know me."
Half-familiar, and he was already using informal speech. Her mood soured instantly. Though it'd been off since she saw his face.
"Congressman Lee Gil-sang. Of course I do. I'm Yoon Se-ra."
"Even Headbang knows mefeels good."
She'd meant it as 'call me Yoon Se-ra, not Headbang,' but she ignored it.
Her mood worsened, but she faced him anyway to hear him out. Neither cared about the passersby on the main road staring.
"I've requested meetings with the Association multiple times, but they keep refusing. Feels like someone's blocking it, so I came myself."
Requests? She hadn't heard, but she could guess. Song Han-na or Do Jun-young had shut it down.
Made senseLee Gil-sang was opposition, at odds with the pro-Association president. Naturally on bad terms with the Association too.
"No interference. I refused your requests myself."
Se-ra shared their views, so she shook her head. Lee Gil-sang's face hardened.
"You? You refused my requests?"
You punk, it sounded like. No illusion there.
