The Abomination from Daesurim
The elves of Daesurim. My first impression upon facing one was a clump of pure malice, an alien dissonance that shouldn't exist in this world. A noise that grated like static. Even when I'd confronted the evil god Succubus Lord, I'd never felt anything this vicious. I knew I shouldn't judge without proper knowledge, but even so, the being before my eyes screamed to be cut down right now—as if the unbidden cry of the Bopal Weapon was flowing into my hand.
A prickling chill like electric currents clawed into my skin, sending nauseating pain straight to my brain. Eyeless, with pure white sclera and long, mad strands of hair dangling down. The clothes it wore looked like leather, but I couldn't even guess what kind. Even in the night, it glowed stark white, like a ghost returned from hell. With a mere gesture, the invincible fleet rose into the sky only to crumple. Cannons fired in unison toward the elf, but as it casually spread its hand, the shells trembled as if seized by invisible forces, slamming to a halt. They reversed course faster than they'd come, striking back at the fleet.
The ships attempted to dive beneath the waves, but the elf scoffed dismissively and strolled forward, parting the sea. As it pried the waters apart like ripping cloth with its hands, the vessels plummeted, crashing into the surface with a deafening crunch. It jabbed a finger into the air like squashing an ant, twisting its wrist—the ship warped, split, and crumpled. Spinning in one direction, it compressed into a tiny ball, tumbling into the depths.
Thud! An energy projectile—perhaps swapped for shells—struck the elf dead-on. The two remaining ships, refusing to yield, shifted tactics: smoke grenades to obscure vision, followed by nets and magic bullets. The nets sparked with electricity upon hitting the water. But they never reached the elf. Caught in an unseen barrier, the nets hung suspended; the bullets scattered silently against an intangible wall. It was utterly unreasonable. Could a single individual really be this strong? An evil god made sense because it was a god. Maou candidates were understandable with their Maou powers. But this? Just one elf from Daesurim—not even an Overlord. The thought that there were at least a hundred more like it sent shivers down my spine.
Anyone not a fool could see why elves were symbols of fear and terror, and how vastly they differed from Trust Union's elves—the gap was obvious.
"We're flooding! Isn't there any way to escape?!"
Turning at Bartholomew Kidd's desperate shout, I saw water rising in the sinking Nautilus. Circe frantically tried to block it with magic, but the submersible was already doomed. She rushed to a console, activating panels and checking something urgently. She yelled that she could repair it somehow. But everyone froze, goosebumps rising as they turned their heads in unison.
"—One of those fish survivors from the fallen kingdom?"
It recognized her—or perhaps it already knew. "You dare carry a noble life without knowing your place, now scrambling over mere livestock. I won't even grant you death."
Daring to claim we'd killed countless elves, turning the tables shamelessly. They were the ones who'd destroyed kingdoms and slain gods. Even Kidd spat curses: "Don't bullshit me, you psycho bastard!" And denying her death? What did it plan to do with her? Calling people livestock, no less.
In that brief distraction, only one ship from the invincible fleet remained. It switched armaments again—a harpoon pierced the elf's abdomen, ripping through leg and guts in a spray of entrails. Lemon Hyacinth gasped, "If we'd used that from the start, we'd be dead!" The force was insane, shattering rocks on the distant island. But—as if time rewound—the severed flesh, gore, and blood flowed back, wounds knitting shut.
"Hah, the livestock's crossed the line. Back in the day, you'd have begged for mercy."
With those words, over twenty wind spirits descended with shrieking howls. They tore the last ship to shreds in seconds, ignoring the vessel itself to slaughter the pirates inside. Crew leaping from the deck were shredded mid-air, reduced to ash on the wind. Sailors on the Nautilus wailed in terror, some soiling themselves. What was that? What the hell is this? This is an elf? The warnings to avoid them at all costs weren't empty—I broke into cold sweats realizing it.
If Circe were at full strength, could she win? She'd claimed she could kill an elf, but only without us around. If it targeted us, she'd have to protect everyone. A Master Sorceress, but frail physically—she'd die to a single hit.
"ᚾᛟ ᛞᛟᚾ'ᛏ ᛞᛟ ᛁᛏ"
Circe saw through my thoughts, trying to stop me, but I turned to Hyacinth. "Hyacinth, party leader's orders. Prepare to withdraw."
"...Understood."
I leaped through the breach onto the sinking Nautilus, glaring at the elf. Its eyes widened in surprise at the sight of me. Circe bellowed from inside to come back, but I had no intention of retreating.
"Impressive energy! How does a mere human have such power? Never mind... Hey, I'll let those vermin below go. Come quietly. I won't kill you. I want to study that infinite energy's source."
Energy...? This energy? But it drew the elf's full attention. Moonlight bathed my head—my hair, now snow-white, gleamed. I rolled Costume Change LV.2 until Dice showed 6; bursting light obscured my form. Simultaneously, I opened the Memorized Spellbook and fired Blind Light at the elf.
Opponent's resistance is too high. It doesn't work.
The exploding light had zero effect. A Fireball halted mid-air, swelling into a massive blaze hurtling back at me. I summoned and gripped the Bopal Weapon. Under the full moon over the night sea, pounding drums echoed. Flashy guitar riffs kicked in; accelerating to the intro's beat, I thrust the Bopal Weapon at the elf. Standing on water, it didn't even bother dodging.
"Stop."
Its word of power hit me, but my surging energy overwhelmed it. Low output, but limitless emission made it possible. The Bopal Weapon resisted the psychic energy, grazing the elf's chest—but it seized the blade, hurling me toward the island. Mid-flight, I summoned a magic circle as footing, leaping up—only for the elf above to kick me again.
"Born with power beyond your station? Don't worry. Livestock learns obedience when beaten. I'll educate you before dragging you off."
Blatant insult, treating me like vermin. Tumbled onto the beach, I eyed the floating elf, passing Cursed Die to Invisible Touch. Wanted to stiffen it with Fading Star and behead, but no allies nearby, and none could withstand 500% enhancement backlash. Bopal Weapon at the ready, I held my breath, unsure of its next move.
A rock protruded from my shoulder.
Gritting teeth, I backpedaled—stones teleported to my spot. Branches and debris overlapped, summoned relentlessly. The earlier harpoon destabilized its embed point; cliffs collapsed. The elf levitated rubble, sharpening stone spears, hurling them like javelins while leisurely watching. Toying with me until exhaustion. It sensed my infinite energy, probing cautiously. While its focus was on me, Invisible Touch rolled the die—unseen number, but a gash appeared on its chest. Touch nudged it again; a blade slashed its face. The third critical tore its throat, fountaining blood. Touch crushed the die, using magic circles to accelerate skyward. Levitfoot leap—moonlight bathed me, power exploding.
Moon's Blessing? Speed and strength dwarfed the giant knight fight. Bopal Weapon severed the elf's head in a blur—no sensation in my hand. Illusion. Psychic energy surged like current from its fingertips. Reflexively Recycle to rubber—but not that type; skin split like lightning-struck, blood spraying.
Headless hands seized me psychically, slamming me into the forest.
Sensing invisible blades, I Selene Jumped instinctively—space-leaping under moonlight. Body acted on survival instinct; mind didn't grasp it. Time Rewind needed visualization, impossible mid-fight. Metal Skin useless against this elf. Teleporting objects to kill? It targeted my brainstem repeatedly—occiput throbbed. 'Hero's Soul saved me.' It resisted psychics; superior Levitfoot senses prevented vegetable state.
'Couldn't behead it.' As blade neared throat, it self-decapitated. Regenerating instantly. Desperate brainstorming. Gazer Eye heat ray bought time, but swirled around it, slicing the island in half. Headless, yet reacted as if seeing. Superpowers... precog maybe? Enraged trees uprooted, stabbing sand. I merged with forest, vanishing; regenerated elf landed, puzzled, searching.
"Impossible... assimilation with the forest? ...Not just transformation skill..."
Faint hope glimpsed. Elves hunt druids with Sahal. I had World Tree power. Gamble time. Abyss of Hatred [奈落] wouldn't trigger on elves. Passed Bopal Weapon to Invisible Touch, chugged elixir, resummoned spirit sword—shattered ones reformable. Female gender felt off, but no time. Flesh Creation: golden World Tree fruit. Emerged holding it; elf stiffened, reached—crushed it viciously.
"You bastard!! How dare you!!!"
"Gonna kill me? Last druid in the world? Lose limbs, easy death."
Elf grimaced, pondering. Vegetable state useless. Blood dripped from shoulder wound. Pale already, now ghostly—might actually die. It raised hands. "Arrogance in solo charge has reason. But prove you're a true druid?"
Phantasmal Feast: golden fruit manifested on palm. Tossed it; elf bit without suspicion. Identical taste, texture, massive mana with World Tree traces—it grinned ecstatically, gums bared.
"Come quietly, or your comrades die."
Pulled ominous cursed collar from waist, closing in coercively. Precog seconds only? Didn't foresee fruit. Limited mid-combat? Invisible Touch circled behind, hiding Bopal Weapon. Wind spirits encircled me now. No-win fight. But—would it eat stranger's World Tree mana blindly?
"Deadly Queen"
Deadly Queen
BOOM! Elf's chest exploded, blood geysering. Energy blocked external, but internal? LV.2 blast devastating. Second detonation shredded torso—bones, vessels exposed, organs pulped. Head gone, lower half remained. Decapitation plan failed, but... head exploded. Dead? Swallowed hard, gazing at moonlit remains. Wind spirits menaced threateningly. Fleeing would trigger attack? Killing elf problematic—then blood converged; head and torso regenerated, abandoning legs.
No way. Despair. Reached out: ☆Friendship grab + Black Cat Rune—rune reflected back. Fine, just luck swap. Gripped hand crumbled to particles; drew shortsword, severed it. Decomposition via psychokinesis spilled as blood.
Outer God Fear LV.2
Stiffened momentarily; Bopal Weapon swung from behind. Blade passed through translucent spirit form. Mind blanked—searing abdominal pain flung me tumbling.
"Gahk!"
Gaping hole in gut. Transformation released, strength ebbed. "Tch... Misjudged force... No choice, erase traces."
Elf prioritized self over World Tree, reaching—death? Shadow burst from sea, hurling rock-pierced harpoon through elf's chest. Bartholomew Kidd charged roaring. That idiot followed after all? If so, I'd die. —Irrelevant. But no one dies. —Unacceptable.
Activation conditions for Abyss of Hatred [奈落] fulfilled.
Indeed, couldn't overlap Small Polymorph. Activated—vision drowned in darkness.
......
About to gruesomely dismember the lizard scum who harpooned it—darkness engulfed the world from behind. Elf shuddered, leaping back. Lizard irrelevant now. Drew sword from waist, channeling psychic energy, teeth chattering at the abyss ahead. Impossible to forget—that terror glimpsed afar on battlefields. Nightmare returned. Black pillar erupted from island. Praying saintess dashed out, gazing skyward. Ink-black heavens churned infinite dark mana, terrifying even Maou candidates. Chronicle's powerhouses turned one way. Hatred. Innate arrogance, boundless malice, remorseless acts as natural, delighting in others' pain. Shouldn't exist. Resentments coalesced into darkness, focusing on one form. Reviving ravaged body, abyssal darkness under moonlit sea glared at elf with hatred-filled eyes.
Maou Candidate title temporarily changed.
Abyss incarnate rose from darkness, gripping demonic sword swirling ominous mana.
"Get away from my comrade."
Killing intent's pressure made elf vomit blood, knee buckling.
Your title is "Maou".
