Chapter 13: Meeting Under the Golden Wind and Jade Dew (Thanks to the Alliance Leader who calls me the Train King)
For a brief moment, Lu Feng almost thought his night vision device had broken.
However, after the series of shocks he had faced since this morning, he found it hard to focus on just one more.
Here he was, a novice who had never even touched a gun before, yet in the midst of chaos, without any real aim, he had pulled the trigger for the first time and, in less than half a second, hit a moving target fifty meters away three times.
Was this real?
There was no way this was true!
Yet, in a fleeting glance, he saw Ji Jue’s firm grip on the gun, the precision of his stance—it was so perfect it could bring tears to a drill instructor’s eyes.
In that moment, Lu Feng felt a flicker of self-doubt… Could he have entered a false hell camp?
“Good boy, hey—”
Underneath his mask, Lu Feng couldn’t help but chuckle as he unsheathed the axe hanging at his waist and swung it down on the head of an approaching enemy, charging forward without a second thought.
He no longer cared about the shadows pursuing him.
He let Ji Jue’s bullets whiz past his ears!
In the distance, Ji Jue fired again.
It was relentless.
Then, bullets naturally began to shatter skulls or force back those who peeked from the corners, keeping them at bay.
He could feel it—the pull of the trigger, the mechanics of the gun working, the bullets roaring within the barrel, the shell casings ejected—just like effortlessly picking an apple.
There was no need for thought or focus; it was just simply easy.
That was all.
What overflowed more was a certain sensation coming from their communication, an instinctive reaction that he had never felt before.
It was a feeling like no other—a pleasure like never before.
As if invisible hands were guiding him, pouring the accumulated experience of long years into his very bones—
The moment Ji Jue’s ability merged with this gun, he suddenly sensed it.
It had a soul!
An inexplicable understanding washed over Ji Jue: perhaps this was the true way to wield his power—understand the tools, learn from them, and let them show him how to truly use themselves!
Thus, he pulled the trigger.
Towards the chaos of writhing bodies where a woman, who had remained aloof the entire time, stood.
He could see the slight, disdainful smile at the corner of Zhu Hong’s mouth and the blood-red eyes behind her sunglasses.
Those eyes shifted, and in an instant, they locked onto Ji Jue’s direction.
Boom!
The deafening sound of the bullet tore through the air, the brass projectile spiraling into her forehead, piercing through the skull, and turning her brain into a horrible mush—this was how it should have gone down—naturally.
But regrettably, it hadn’t happened from the very start.
The bullet sank into flesh, as if it had hit a bulletproof plate, and actually ricocheted off the skull!
Only a quickly closing wound remained.
Ji Jue pulled the trigger again.
At that moment, blood and fire erupted from Zhu Hong’s eyes, scales appeared to flicker over her lovely face, and she parted her lips, silently uttering something.
Ji Jue heard nothing.
But the sight made him feel like he had fallen into an ice pit.
The freshly restarted surveillance was frantically sending him warnings—[Get out of the way! Get out of the way! Get out of the way!]
With no time to think, without hesitation, Ji Jue lunged forward like a hungry dog pouncing on its prey—ungraceful and unrefined—but as fluid as a donkey rolling in a muddy pit.
It was a chaotic mess.
Then, the solid concrete where he had once stood, along with the parking sign above it, suddenly shattered into pieces!
A thunderous roar.
A long, scaly tail appeared out of nowhere, manifesting for a moment before quickly blurring again, difficult to discern in the shadows.
Yet, in the infrared of the camera, an image flowed toward Ji Jue relentlessly.
It was a python!
In the infrared view, the bizarre serpent slithered through the shadows, its scales reflecting a dazzling light, translucent in appearance.
Yet, to the naked eye, its colors blended into the surroundings, making it impossible to identify in the darkness.
The gigantic snake, measuring several meters long, writhed in the dark, dragging along incomplete vestiges of limbs, each resembling a failed evolution, with bumps scattered across its face.
What stayed in its eyes was an overwhelming hunger and madness!
“Damn, Brother Feng, be careful, there's a hunter here…”
In a split second, Ji Jue dared not look back but shouted desperately, only to see the big snake springing toward him like a coiled spring.
He instinctively squatted down, wanting to roll away, but the moment the front of his body lunged forward, his legs suddenly felt like they were ensnared by ropes, yanking him back!
The python’s tail, agile as a hand, wrapped around his left leg, pulling tight and lifting him into the air.
Then, its gaping, blood-colored maw opened wide amidst the stench, snapping toward Ji Jue’s head.
Bang.
A muffled sound erupted as the serpent’s jaws closed, threatening to crush his bones like a guillotine, but it suddenly stopped… blocked by Ji Jue’s arm!
Even in its frenzy, the snake’s eyes betrayed a glimmer of astonishment, uncomprehending.
Underneath the torn work clothes, slivers of paper peeked through, shredded by the snake's teeth—this was Ji Jue’s protective gear against potential attacks from the deadly old uncle! He had bound hefty books tightly on his arm with tape, and it had been that formidable collection that could give anyone sleepless nights, "The Thirty Volumes of Exam Kings!"
“How’s the taste of knowledge?”
Amidst the pain of his bones cracking, Ji Jue’s expression twisted, and he couldn’t help but grin.
With his other hand, he suddenly thrust the hot barrel of his gun into the snake’s eye, shattering the iris, and frantically pulled the trigger!
Four bullets exploded within the eye socket, and the giant snake let out a dreadful shriek, thrashing violently.
Ji Jue was violently flung back, crashing to the ground, his vision darkening, nearly losing consciousness.
But before he could rise, a biting chill washed over him.
The massive body of the snake, now convulsing, coiled around Ji Jue, constricting tighter and tighter!
This was the hunting instinct of a python, capable of crushing even large carnivores to death!
Crack!
Ji Jue heard the agonizing scream of his left arm under the mounting pressure.
His other hand fumbled, desperately grabbing at the tip of its tail, but couldn’t break free.
In that moment, Lu Feng, catching the glimpse of Ji Jue’s plight, dropped his empty submachine gun and sprinted over the corpses.
With his other hand, he pulled out a shotgun, not aiming at the python, but turning it toward the distant Zhu Hong, pulling the trigger!
“Catch the thief by catching the leader first!”
Metallic rain erupted from the gun, instantly screaming toward Zhu Hong.
The bullets embedded into her body, but after piercing through her tailored dress, they were swallowed up by the writhing flesh, only causing her to step back a pace.
He didn’t stop there, continuously pulling the trigger, filling the entire parking lot with its deafening roar.
Even that slender figure seemed to instantly transform into a mass of mangled flesh, her clothes shredded, revealing shocking patches of crimson and tantalizingly pale skin.
Three conical shapes that jumped and bounced… Three?
The approaching Lu Feng hesitated for a moment, his gaze blurring as if something had just flown past.
Wait, why did she have three arms?!
And what had just whizzed by…
His gun barrel suddenly felt heavy as two bloody, mangled hands reached up to grip it, hissing.
In the close proximity, that once-beautiful face slowly raised, revealing a twisted smile full of bullet holes and blood, mockingly teasing:
"What’re you staring at?"
In the next instant, Lu Feng finally understood what had just zipped past— lodged right in his throat was an… arm!
Hidden beneath layers of clothing and disguise, a bizarre arm!
It gripped Lu Feng’s neck and gradually lifted him up.
One, two, three…
Lu Feng’s eyes widened as he counted the arms on the woman again, incredulous, yet soon came to terms with it: after all, it's common knowledge that a person is born with two arms and two legs.
If one person had three arms, then having three legs seemed pretty reasonable too!
Then he saw it—a fourth sharp, blade-like limb slowly extending from Zhu Hong’s back, and then a fifth!
Like a spider tearing away its membrane, revealing its true form.
“I thought it was some ghostly thing. Who knew I had fresh ingredients delivered? Thanks to you, I could clear out this bunch of excess baggage and trash.”
Zhu Hong grinned, her fingers tightening slowly, reveling in the thrill of her prey's despair.
But next, her face suddenly lit up.
Lights flickered.
Finally, the power came on!
But the arrival of this light was not a signal of victory, rather an unexpected calamity.
A harrowing shriek echoed.
Lu Feng swore this was the first time in his life he had heard a snake’s anguished cry, and it sounded almost identical to Ji Jue’s scream… But quickly, he realized that it was indeed Ji Jue’s scream.
Because that mass, once a strange giant serpent, had fallen silent!
Just moments ago, Ji Jue, on the verge of being completely crushed by the giant snake, made one last desperate struggle.
He didn’t waste energy trying to take another bite of that creature but instead used every ounce of strength to shove the strange python’s tail…into an electrical socket!
“Hey, buddy.”
With a face turning ashen as liver, Ji Jue strained to lift his head, looking at the giant snake with a final smile: “Do you have a ground wire?”
Crack!
In that instant, the life force drawn from his watch activated the ability!
Restarting everything that had been shut down.
Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang!
The entire building trembled as if in a quake.
The previously disabled circuit breaker seemed to come alive again, merging once more, engulfing the dark and chaotic nightclub in radiant light.
Alongside Ji Jue.
Amidst the wails of the power distribution box, as enough voltage to supply an entire nightclub’s dance floor, lights, sound systems, performances, booths, kitchens, and every single room surged in response to Ji Jue’s call, even burning the wires in the process, it cascaded forth.
And at that moment, the giant snake, for the first time in its life, illuminated with dazzling brilliance.
Like a light bulb.
The tidal wave of force seemed to tear through the thin shell on its tail, penetrating into the python’s flesh, coursing through the blood and bones, radiating heat throughout its body.
In less than a second, the wire was completely incinerated, rendering it ineffective, while the massive serpent’s body froze in place, its protective conductive scales barely allowing it to maintain its former posture.
Then, under Ji Jue's trembling, it broke into several segments and lost its once wild and menacing appearance, resembling burnt remnants under a scalpel, emitting a maddeningly charred aroma.
Ji Jue choked violently, convulsing, barely managing to rise, then collapsing once more.
When he finally propped himself up, he couldn’t stifle the urge to vomit.
He gagged profusely.
Until he finally recovered enough to breathe, lifting his head to see nearby lifeless bodies and, in a pool of blood, Lu Feng being held aloft by the neck.
And behind that, a ghostly Zhu Hong was staring at him.
He reflexively touched his face and realized that in the snake’s snare, his mask had already vanished.
At this moment, his pale face was smeared with saliva and blood, nearly unrecognizable.
Only the scar from his neck running up to his cheek stood out clearly.
It was unforgettable.
It was finished, he was unmasked.
Ji Jue slapped his forehead, sighed, and forced a strained smile toward the car owner sister who had warmly invited him out.
“Hey, boss.”
He ruffled his hair, blinking his watery eyes, trying hard to manage a flirty charm: “Need any service?”
