Chapter 22: Emptying the Sect’s Treasure Vault
Chapter 22: Emptying the Sect’s Treasure Vault
“Saint Son, this is the sect’s treasure vault. Feel free to choose anything you like and take it.”
Inside the sect’s treasure vault, the guardian elder Liu Yong stood beside Su Ming with an ingratiating smile.
Currently, no one in the Three Saints Sect would dare show any dissatisfaction with Su Ming’s actions.
Even the rule of taking only one item from the treasure vault had been changed specifically for Su Ming.
The events from just two hours ago were still fresh in everyone’s minds.
The breach in the sect’s protective formation remained unfixed and unfixable.
At this point, no one wanted to face the wrath of a Heavenly Dao realm expert.
Moreover, Su Ming’s strength was undeniable. Even setting aside his mother’s intimidation, any discerning person could see the Saint Son position would ultimately be his.
What a pity about that Chu Fan though - his talent was equally remarkable, but falling into spatial turbulence meant he was almost certainly dead.
Thinking of this, Liu Yong wanted to strangle Li Jianping.
If not for that foolish sect master, would things have come to this?
Surveying the vast treasure vault, Su Ming already had his answer.
“Elder Liu, could you show me the vault’s inventory? Going through items one by one would be too time-consuming.”
Liu Yong nodded repeatedly and immediately produced the list: “Here’s the inventory, please take a look, Saint Son.”
Taking the list, Su Ming quickly scanned the items before marking about a dozen entries with his finger.
“These will do.”
Looking at the marked list, Liu Yong felt his heart bleeding.
While the dozen or so items Su Ming selected weren’t the rarest treasures, they were still hard-earned resources accumulated over time.
Yet he didn’t dare refuse, forcing a smile as he said: “Excellent choices, Saint Son. I’ll retrieve these for you immediately.”
“Elder Liu, I think you misunderstood. What I meant was - I want everything in the vault except the items I marked!”
“Th-this… this…”
Liu Yong, a peak Star Realm cultivator, suddenly found himself stammering incoherently.
A treasure vault reduced to just a dozen items - could it still be called a treasure vault? Even a regular storage room would have more than that!
“Elder Liu, didn’t you personally tell me I could take anything I liked from the vault? Surely you’re not going back on your word now?” Su Ming gave Liu Yong a “kind” smile.
With things having reached this point, did Liu Yong dare refuse? Obviously not.
Suppressing his crumbling composure, he forced another smile: “Of course I wouldn’t do such a thing. I’ll prepare everything for the Young Master…”
Like a walking corpse, Liu Yong personally packed every single item from the vault into storage rings, leaving only the dozen or so items Su Ming didn’t want.
The once abundant treasure vault now stood nearly empty.
Trembling, Liu Yong handed the storage rings to Su Ming.
“Elder Liu, at your age you should take better care of your health,” Su Ming comforted while pocketing all the rings.
“Th-thank you for your concern, Saint Son…”
Su Ming patted his shoulder before turning to leave without another glance.
With resources secured, it was time to resume cultivation.
After Su Ming left, Liu Yong completely collapsed to the ground in despair.
Having guarded the sect’s treasure vault for decades, seeing everything vanish in an instant was more than he could bear.
Yet there was nothing he could do against Su Ming.
As if misfortune never comes singly, Li Jianping chose this moment to send a voice transmission: “Elder Liu, I see Su Ming has left. What treasures did he select?”
This proved the final straw.
“Sect Master… gone! Everything’s gone! Su Ming took everything from the treasure vault! He only left us a dozen items!!”
His voice dripped with misery, bordering on tears.
Hearing this, Li Jianping nearly fainted.
He’d expected Su Ming to be ruthless and shameless, but never imagined things would come to this.
The entire accumulated wealth of the Three Saints Sect through generations - emptied just like that!?
Li Jianping instinctively reached for his Lifebound Flying Sword, only to grasp empty air.
He then remembered it had been shattered by Meng Shu and was currently being reforged.
“SU MING!!!” Li Jianping roared inwardly, wishing he could tear the youth to pieces.
But after witnessing the terrifying power of Su Ming’s mother, he couldn’t muster the courage to oppose Su Ming directly.
Even if someone were to act against him, it would have to be a fellow disciple - that way, even if Su Ming were defeated or injured, his parents would have no justification to intervene.
Would a Heavenly Dao realm supreme being really interfere in juniors’ squabbles?
Yet reality was cruel. Had Su Ming grown up under his parents’ protection, anyone daring to harm a hair on his head would have been beaten to soul annihilation by Su Wu and Ling Xiao.
“The Three Saints Secret Realm… if he enters it…”
As the sect’s most important secret realm, it naturally contained countless opportunities and inheritances left by predecessors.
If Su Ming entered, wouldn’t he take all those inheritances and opportunities too?
The thought made Li Jianping shudder.
Yet he had no way to stop him.
In just three days, Su Ming’s parents had appeared twice. Even if only through residual will, it demonstrated their formidable power.
“Could the ancestor’s information be wrong…? Have Su Ming’s parents actually escaped their confinement already?”
This possibility made Li Jianping jump to his feet, heading straight for the sect’s forbidden grounds.
Regardless, he had to inform the Three Saints Sect’s founding ancestor about these developments.
…
Upon returning to Chenyang Peak, Su Ming saw Meng Shu standing in the courtyard with a white-haired girl beside him.
Just from her silhouette, Su Ming could tell she was breathtakingly beautiful.
Of course - which female protagonist of destiny wasn’t drop-dead gorgeous at minimum? Their upper beauty limit only depended on how much literary talent the author possessed.
Sensing Su Ming’s return, Meng Shu turned and announced: “Young Master, mission accomplished. I’ve brought your fiancée back.”
Hearing this, Luo Ningshuang finally turned to look at Su Ming.
Seeing her face, Su Ming’s understanding of beauty was rewritten.
“My fiancée - why should she submit to destiny’s arrangements?!”
“If destiny wants to cuckold me, then I’ll become the purest champion of true love!”
While Su Ming was appraising Luo Ningshuang, she was studying him too.
At first glance at least, both seemed quite satisfied with what they saw.
Yet within the Yaochi Heavenly Lock, the remnant soul of the Yaochi Empress urgently warned Luo Ningshuang in a terrified voice:
“Stay away from him! You must stay away! He’s calamity personified!!”
