Chapter Title: Wife Meeting
-----------------------------------------------------------------
"Blackie, water flows great... Oh? Bigger than I thought?"
Winia and Claudia came in to check out the bathroom too. Just the fact that the water came out strong was already a big plus. And the house itself was spacious—couldn't ask for more.
If the water works fine, it's basically no different from modern times, just without electricity.
"Hmm, this seems decent enough?"
Claudia looked pleased.
"It's okay, but we should still check with Karin and Lisha first. Karin's cool with pretty much anything, but no idea about Lisha."
"Yeah, you're right."
We left the bathroom and checked out the first floor. There were a few rooms, but being an empty house, it was just dusty otherwise. Still, plenty of storage space here and there, so it was a win.
The second floor looked like one big bedroom. Pretty spacious. Throw in a large bed and some furniture, and it'd be perfect.
"Hey, Winia. How much is this place?"
"No price listed. Gotta go talk to them in person."
"It better not be fucking expensive."
"I'd be so bummed if it was."
After scoping out every corner of the house, we were leaning toward it being a solid choice to live here. We wrapped up the search and headed outside.
"Getting late now. Let's head back."
"Yeah."
We returned the key and paperwork to the real estate guild right away, and it was starting to get dark. I wanted to ask about that house, but the agent had already clocked out.
At least I remembered the location. I'd ask tomorrow.
◇◇◇◆◇◇◇ The next day, I stopped by the swordsman guild first thing in the morning for training like always. As soon as I got there, I asked Karin about the house, and she was super chill—said distance like that was no big deal.
Not locked in yet, but that one-hour range seemed like the cutoff.
Decision made.
After training, I headed to the real estate guild.
"Ah, that house. Actually, it's not for rent—the owner put it up for sale."
Figured as much. That's why all the furniture was gone. Dust everywhere too. Owner probably moving to another region and liquidating assets?
"I see. How much?"
"They said to negotiate if a buyer shows up, or just let them know. Want me to pass the word?"
"Nah, but I need a ballpark price to even decide if I wanna talk."
"Exactly. But since they didn't list one, probably fine to just relay the interest."
"Yeah, do that. I'll keep looking at other places in the meantime."
"Got it."
I planned to check out more spots. Houses weren't just that one. Left the guild and poked around more buildings.
Of course, after seeing that perfect one, nothing else caught my eye. Still, I'd keep looking until we heard back from the owner.
—And so time passed like that.
Today was Karin's day off again.
No word from the owner yet. Not like we were busy anyway. Could afford to wait during this training break.
I'd let Lisha know too, and like Karin, she said that distance was fine.
"Ugh, so we're going now?"
"When else?"
"True, but..."
I also passed on that Karin wanted to meet her. So today, I'd take Karin to see Lisha.
Wives oughta say hi to each other.
Especially since we'd be living together soon.
Winia was heading to the Magic Tower for the day, and Claudia tagged along. Which was why I was going with just Karin to see Lisha.
"No need to be that awkward. What's the deal anyway?"
"It's not awkward or anything. Just saw her a few times on mercenary gigs. Acquaintances, I guess? Kinda weird."
Karin was reacting like she was dealing with someone super awkward. Made sense—I'd kinda picked up on that vibe before. But what was the issue?
"She introduced us in the first place. No need to overthink it."
"I'm not overthinking."
According to Karin, she'd first met Lisha during mercenary work, got some help from her in wars a few times after. Thought that was the end of it, but years later, after settling in Isvant, found out she was around.
Just that much, apparently.
Didn't seem like a big deal.
"Witches have that shady vibe, y'know? The help felt off too. Wasn't really help—more like a transaction. Makes me wary."
"What kinda help?"
"In a fucking lopsided battle, we paid half our contract fee for some black magic assist."
Context: turned a losing fight into a win with Lisha's help. Looked inhuman for sure.
Could happen. Nothing to sweat.
"Ah, fuck it. Let's just go. It's not like with Winia—no need for me to feel weird."
"Heh, yeah. But why Winia?"
"Winia hits different. Feels like I stole her man, y'know? Kinda guilty. And it is what it happened."
"That's why you were all meek around her?"
"Pretty much. I got manners. Gotta respect the wife. But we're good now."
That explained it.
Anyway, headed out with Karin right away. Super rare for us to go out just the two of us. She grinned and hooked her arm in mine.
"Ah, fuck, this is nice."
Not just grinning—face flushed, beaming. Looked so cute I wanted to hug her.
"Want a piggyback?"
"Nah, too embarrassing."
"Princess carry then."
"Kyaa!"
I scooped her up princess-style and strolled down the street. She shrieked and covered her face with both hands. Ignored it and kept going.
"Hey... put me down... embarrassing..."
Her voice got all tiny.
"Nope."
"..."
Passersby kept glancing our way. Karin's pretty famous, so most folks would recognize her.
Did they clock her as the guildmaster?
She'd dressed down in one of those weird outfits she bought herself last time—least bad one—so maybe not.
"Seriously, Karin? You try jumping me shamelessly all the time—what's embarrassing now? And you're fucking adorable right now."
"Fuck off... if I'm embarrassed, I'm embarrassed... More like, you keep turning your sis on?"
"What's hot about this?"
"Dunno... Karin's horny now..."
"Heh, so cute."
Carried her like that all the way to the slums.
Whole time, Karin clung tight with both arms, dead silent and well-behaved. Weirdly shy in odd spots. And got excited over strange shit.
Finally hit my limit though, so I set her down.
"Ah, fuck. Limit reached."
"...Having a husband really is nice."
"Huh."
Soon as her feet touched ground, her face looked super turned on. She grabbed my hand and dragged me into a quiet alley.
—Thud.
Pinned me to the wall and demanded a kiss.
"Whoa, sis?"
"Kiss me quick."
"Here?"
"Quick."
I kissed her deep, swapping spit passionately. Her tongue shoved roughly into my mouth. She was seriously worked up.
Calmed her down, then slipped out of the alley.
"Kyahaha, that hit the spot. C'mon, let's go. Witch is waiting."
"Unpredictable as ever."
Recharged, we marched to Lisha's shop with gusto. Slums, obviously, so we ran into some poor folk along the way.
"M-Murder Bard!!!"
"Serial killer's here!!!"
"The death-singing minstrel!!!"
They screamed bullshit like that and bolted like hell.
"What the fuck are these assholes saying?!"
Pissed, I dropkicked the shit-talking fucks calling me Murder Bard or Death Minstrel. The ones who ate my kicks flew pathetically, screeching.
"What the hell?"
Karin cracked up at the sight, flashing a bright smile and chuckling softly.
"Dunno, just idiots."
"No, that's hilarious. You always live this fun? And what's a bard?"
"I sing pretty good."
"Kyahaha, liar."
"Why the fuck no one believes I can sing?"
In this world, only old man Go sang Seolund's Compass better than me. Grinning, we arrived at Lisha's place.
Went in with Karin.
"Lisha, it's me."
"I've been waiting."
Soon as we entered, regal Lisha stood from her seat, came over, and hugged me. Hugged back, and trailing Karin greeted her.
"...Lisha?"
"Hm, you're here."
"It's been a while. You look well, so no need for small talk. We're here to say hi today, but..."
Lisha released me and stepped in front of Karin.
"...Huh? Boobs? Your boobs got huge?"
Karin suddenly gawked and pointed it out. Lisha smiled leisurely, tracing her upper cleavage with a finger.
"Ah, this? For his tastes. He likes 'em big. Right?"
"Heh, you know it."
"Anyway, sit. I'm glad too."
We sat on the sofa as guided.
Last time with Winia, this time Karin. She sat next to me; Lisha across like before.
"No need to be so guarded. You know already, right? Here as his wife."
"...Yeah. Hard to believe, but we're tied like this now. Awkward."
"Hehe, that's how it goes? Let's get along from now on. As fellow wives, serve him together."
"Hah, sure."
"Be casual."
"Then... just Lisha."
"Fine by me."
That was the exchange.
Lisha's attitude toward other wives matched Claudia's. Karin didn't mind either.
"Lisha... so we're living together from now on. Nice to meet ya. Quick question: you won't do anything weird to my husband, right?"
"Weird? Seems you have some preconceptions about me. Still hung up on the past? Forget it. I'm just a girl in love now."
She shot me a seductive glance. Definitely not a girl, I thought, and she frowned.
"...My man's full of charm. You know that? Weird stuff? No way. Don't worry."
"Yeah... he's the best. Sorry, my bad. Had some bias. Won't happen again. Let's get along—like friends?"
"Hehe, that'd be easier for me too."
Karin stood and offered her hand.
Lisha smiled brightly and shook it up and down.
Wives' intros done.
"See, Karin? Told you it'd be fine."
"Yeah, it is. No reason to worry anyway. Alright, Lisha. Let's raise our husband right together."
"Looking forward to living together."
After, we ate the meal Lisha prepared and chatted. Basically, ignore the little stuff and get along.
Left with Karin.
"Whew, one worry down. Shoulda done this sooner—we'll see each other plenty. So, hubby, wanna fuck your sis now?"
"Ends up there, huh."
Back to Karin's room, went at it till afternoon, then returned to the dorm.
House stuff should wrap up soon.
If the owner prices it right, maybe just buy it.
